Depends on if the storms on my weather app are "it's gonna be stormy and cloudy all day" storms or "it's summer so we're gonna say there will be thunderstorms everyday for the next 6 days so that we capture the 2 actual storms sometime within that period" storms.
I'd like to spend it by a pool with my friends or on the lake surfing behind a boat. Both instances would also preferably involve some good beer.

Rain won't dampen that bunch. Derrick Trucks is the best slide player I've ever seen. The bass player, Oteil Burbridge used to play with my brother's band way back in the 70s, and is a fantastic bass man. But Trucks, man, wow. And regardless of the heat, he'll be wearing jeans and a flannel shirt and won't say a word.

I don't think Oteil is with them anymore, at least wasn't when I saw them last summer. He'd be on tour with Dead and Co. right now anyway.
I'm not worried about the rain washing the blues away. Had a great duel between Derek and the trombone player last year. It's gonna be a hell of a show.

I don't keep up with all the comings and goings, but I had heard he was doing the Dead thing. Trucks is the reason to see that group, regardless of his side men. He and Frank Zappa might be the best guitar players I've ever seen live, and I've been fortunate enough to see some of the great ones back in the 70s.

I'll admit to having never heard of Derek Trucks. So when you compared him to some of the "greats of the 70s", it peaked my curiosity. How could I have never heard of someone who compares to Clapton, Van Halen, Gilmore, Beck, Page, and the like?
So off to YouTube I went. Damn, you aren't wrong. Definitely adding his music to my list.

See him live when you get the chance. For me, he was the only one on the damn stage. He's just not commercial, and times have changed with how people hear music, but like you said, worth adding to the list.

We are having some friends come up. HokieEnginerd is going to fire up the Weber to make bacon burgers/sliders and hot dogs- foot longs and red Jesse Jones (that my mom has to buy for me and freeze because they don't exist north of about Lynchburg). After grilling out, we are going to watch the fireworks from the bridge.

Smoking a 19 lbs brisket for tomorrow. Packing over the following two days for a week long no itinerary camping trip that starts at Mt. Shasta and then...... wherever I want to go. No email, no internet no nothing but cooking over fire and enjoying nature.
I'm sooooo looking forward to it.

Kind of pissed they dropped it today instead of yesterday or the 5th. It didn't HAVE to be on the 4th exactly... just made it more difficult for me to binge it ASAP, as I have always done before.

Bbq for 80 - 90 people at my house on Saturday. I live next to the township park where they do the fireworks. My back yard is wide open to view them without having to move from your seat.

That's awesome! We also see fireworks from my parents' backyard - amateur hour but they do a pretty good job every year, enough to make us not want to go anywhere

Community parade, met Abigail Spanberger during the parade. Kids got lots of candy. Lots of flags everywhere. Hit up the pool and mini carnival. Then it rained. In fact, it's still raining. So, we are moving on to Stranger Things 3 as soon as the kids are down.

HokieEnginerd grilled in the pouring rain. Attempted to go see the fireworks. Got there and the fireworks had already started (they changed the time about an hour before the show was scheduled to start). Watched the end of the fireworks then came home and watched the random fireworks in the neighborhood.

I got a little worried about the weather down here in the OBX, but we never got a drop of rain. Had a nice fireworks display at the Avalon pier. We walked out from our house at the 1st St access...night was complete with amatuer fireworks going off 50 feet from us, and two wasted guys almost coming to blows over it.

I hear that there might be bad weather here so, this:

It's going to be the latter.
With the only real storm coming at 8PM Saturday night while I'm at the outdoor Tedeschi Trucks Band concert in Simpsonville.

I saw derrick trucks at a bar in central florida when he was 10. Kid was killing it then. I can't imagine what hes doin now. Enjoy the show!
we are doing the annual family backyard bbq - it'll be on the smaller side this year which'll be kinda nice in terms of prep and clean up

Leaving for Disney World Friday. Meeting both daughters, their husbands, 4 grandsons and one mother in law.
this sounds like a break for the daughters/SIL's.
You are correct, sir. But the wife loves being grandma; so everyone is happy.
My condolences...
Making a costume for Raleigh SuperCon Wednesday then driving up to NOVA to visit friends for the weekend.
Working some, fishing, golfing, drinking, grilling, and blowing shit up. My kinda weekend...
I'll have what you're having!
Not checking the recruiting thread!
Patriotic role play sex, I'm Uncle Sam, she's sexy Betsy Ross.
Is there any other kind?
Yes, last year when she was uncle sam and I was Betsy Ross.
Methinks smittyvt32949 may have came out a bit premature with that GIF.
Golf cart Parade. Pool. Grilling. Beach this weekend. Sleep in till at least 7:30
Ummm, golf cart parade? Really?
https://images.app.goo.gl/oZzJUvvuoNs7p4GJ8
Kids love riding in a decorated golf cart. Did it for Halloween and Xmas too.
Ain't doing nothing
Petersburg National Battlefield Park followed by some cardio then beer and various grilled foods.

You heading north to cascades or east/se to the sierras? Or maybe sw to the coastal range in ca?
Probably north. I've done the coast, Yosemite was last year and the Sierras was the year before.
Might take a trip to Rubicon later this year if I can find someone else with a vehicle that can drive it to go with.
I'm in Iceland for work, so I'll be hitting up the Blue Lagoon.
I'll be spending Independence Day on the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN, off the coast of Iran, still patiently waiting for a fireworks show.
And we thank you for it
People like you are the reason that the rest of us can celebrate Independence Day. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Many thanks.

LIGHT 'EM UP!!!
Working. I'll hold back the complaints as 6 weeks of vacation + holidays in Germany is quite luxurious in any case.
I at least baked a 4th of July cake for the office to celebrate a little. Sporting red, white, and blue clothes, too.
Nats game with my oldest son, then my brother is bringing over a pork shoulder, then we will blow some stuff up.
Awesome. How was the game? Been to many up there, but never the 11am game. Always wanted to go, but the 4th in DC terrifies me.
Stranger mother fucking Things.
Kind of pissed they dropped it today instead of yesterday or the 5th. It didn't HAVE to be on the 4th exactly... just made it more difficult for me to binge it ASAP, as I have always done before.
A biography?
cooking ribs...eating ribs
Correct answer: whatever my wife wants to do.
So you're dressing up as uncle sam?

Ok. Party on saturday at 5 if u change your mind.
I totally missed the Saturday part π€¦ββοΈ! I'll be visiting some friends up in CT
Ok. Safe travels. ...
Just got back from the beach in Va Beach. Big thunder cell rolling through, but we've been out there since 1030 AM so it was totally worth it
Has traffic improved since I left home? Getting to the beach on the 4th was always the absolute worst
I have avoided being on the road at all today, but it has looked pretty typical. Probably about what you'd expect
I played a show in Wytheville. I'm now trying to keep an 8 month old happy while I rest up for a very long gig tomorrow.
Watcha play?
What do you want me to play? I'm basically the equivalent of a music hooker. I'll play what pays.
This was a blues band.
Lol...
Good luck with all that. It gets better.
Tri-tip with garlic bread, pico de gallo, and a bean concoction. BP even keel, Zac Brown tunes around the grill.

Spent Independence Day by not going quietly into the night and not going out without a fight
