So I recently saw the play when it came through town as my wife wanted to see the dancing. I knew it had been on broadway a long time and figured it must be good to make it so long. I had no idea it was just a series of songs about different cats, no plot line, just kitchy songs about the nuanced behavior of cats. I rate it near the bottom of all the live theater I have seen.

That was the highlight of the show. The actress that played the part hit the solo perfectly and literally jolted me in my seat, half the audience was up in a standing ovation before she finished. Might have been the most impressive singing performance I have ever seen live. Overall though, the song and dance routines were well performed and entertaining, songs about cats get old after about 2 of them.

Anyone see the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt where Titus joins the cast of Cats? Apparently all you have to do is run on stage and sing a song and you're officially in.
