Idk if this is deserving of it's own thread, but anyone know what happened? Is he injured?

Goddamnit
God Damn. Shit the bed
He shit the bed? That's unfortunate and embarrassing. Hopefully he doesn't let it get to his head.
Sorry. Who is this?

What type of black magic is this?

Interesting take after the most exciting season of VT basketball in like half a century.
I guess I'm not following too closely
Word is ACL and done for the year.
Damn. He had back problems dating back to his high school days that it looked like he had finally gotten under control. I hate it for him that this is now happening.
Damn it. Dude was due for some real playing time this year after mostly riding the bench last year. I feel awful for him.
Longtime reader, first time poster. Was working out at the gym this morning and met one of the VT basketball staff members. He told me it was surgery on his hip and he will be out for the year. Also said Kabongo is a great guy. Hope he heals and comes back better than ever.
I'm more concerned with Kabongo's long term health than our short term rotations in a rebuild year. But it's worth pointing out....
If Kabongo is out for the year, our rotations will include 5 players who have ever played one minute of college ball: Bede, Wilkins, Horne, Johnson (at Alabama State), and walk-on Brendan Palmer (2 career minutes). So 3 players to ever play real ACC minutes and for the most part, that was off the bench.
Specifically looking at our true backcourt players (Bede, Cone, Radford, Cattoor, Alleyene), only one of those guys has ever suited up for a college game. That's insane.
That has to be one of the most inexperienced teams I've ever seen. I really hope people don't place too much expectations on these guys in a rebuild year while they develop.
The other side of this is that in 22-23 we will have a senior laden team that has A LOT of ACC playing experience
Yeah I'm cool with having high expectations for the future, but I hope people understand it if we are awful this season.
I don't believe in curses.
But VT Basketball is cursed.
Zero question about it.
I mean its more that its just a product of not having layered depth in basketball. Except for a couple James Johnson years, we've always been capable of recruiting a starting 5 that is good enough to keep us in most games in this conference. Where we struggle is rounding out the bench with enough players that one injury isn't going to gut the season. We struggled with that badly with Seth, and even under Buzz it was never truly ideal.
We have the ability to take the next step in basketball. We have shown the potential is absolutely there to legitimately build something and build it fast here. Where we trip ourselves up is not being able to carry that recruiting momentum year after year, and instead pretty much load up every other year, causing the bench to either be non-existent, or too young to contribute, despite the talent they may have.
News out today from CMY that he's medically disqualified. An unfortunate short lived life for the Kabongo Dynasty :(

Disappointing. I suspect that this is what CMY alluded to a couple of weeks ago when asked about the numbers and he said that another departure was coming.
