Great start!! Took the offense 73 yards to the 2 yard line where his running back fumbled on the first drive, then an 83 yard TD drive on the second possession.
6-6 passing and 2 scrambles for 34 yards.

Tim Settle had a pretty good game for Washington. He's had a great offseason and looked good against the Browns' starters. No really impressive stats but he consistently generated pressure and helped stuff the run.

He strikes me as a player the media will never talk about due to lack of stats but every Olineman and OC will know who he is and he will pop up on those player voted best players list.

Why does Joey Slye refuse to give up his NFL dream?"I promised my brother, who passed away in 2014, that I would make it."https://t.co/Vv0eQo0bPdβ Carolina Panthers (@Panthers) August 9, 2019

On the radio this morning, they are talking about how Slye may force Coach Rivera to give him a look at the starters job. Hopefully he makes a better decision than they did in letting Harrison Butker go to KC. If he kicks this well over the preseason, I can see them keeping two kickers...Slye for Kickoffs and Gano for FGs...Slye was booming it last night..

Thing is, Gano kicks touchbacks nearly every time already. Slye looked really good last night for sure, I'd just be a little worried that he'd revert back to his senior year form. Personally I hope he's improved a bunch and this preseason makes someone take another look at him, even if it's not Carolina.

I didn't get to watch the full Redskins game -- did Adonis or Stroman get any playing time?
I read on a Redskins blog that both of those guys have been struggling through camp. Adonis seems too big and slow to cover the receivers and it sounds like Stroman is just struggling in general. Really hope both of those guys can stick.

I've heard nothing of the sort regarding Stro. I've read he's been doing just fine. Adonis on the other hand....has a LOT of work to do to earn a roster spot.

Am I alone in thinking that kicking in the NFL might be a little easier than college given that the hashes are closer together? Not to take anything away from Slye because he's doing an incredible job, but he seemed to really struggle from the hashes his senior year.

Even so, the hashes in the NFL are even with the field goal posts, meaning that kickers essentially just have to kick it straight and maybe just push it the tiniest bit left or right. In college, the hashes are much wider. Kickers have to angle it way more.

Also, your only focus is on kicking without having to worry about classes, etc. That's gotta help a lot for a position so dependent on focus and consistency.

And Slye just made a 55 yarder!
Then he kicked it off and ran down the field and was in on tackling the kick returner at the 22 yard line
Teller was at left guard when Cam caught the TD.
Local Jaguars TV guys are raving over Reavis.
Lead the team in tackles tonight, I was impressed with his play.
8 total tackles, 6 solo. Someone said he was always in the right spot. A Torrian Gray student for a year!
Chuck Clark just tipped a pass about two yards down field and should have had the INT.
That was brutal man. He was running for the end zone before he had it.
Isiah Ford is doing a solid job returning 4 punts for the Dolphins. 71 yards
Lock up the special teams spot, smart move. Then he can wow when he gets his snaps out wide.
two yards away from a pretty nice day.
Tyrod at QB for Chargers.

Tyrod, my man!!!
6/6, 72 yards and 116.7 QBR.
Is Tyrod back to being the preseason stud he was when he was at Baltimore?
**IS, never stopped being a stud
Oh I know. I just meant it seems like he's been relegated back to a preseason stud rather than a Bills starter with no help from an administration
Brandon Facyson started at CB for the Chargers, looked like he was locking it down in the 1st half, had a good pass breakup too

He was in the backfield on a couple tackles in the little bit of time I spent watching the game.

Mentioned it in the other thread that Fireman made but AA is not making the roster from everything I've read.
Slye just hit a 54 yarder!!
He missed one early but it was called back on a penalty, so he is perfect in the preseason. 6 for 6?
4-4 from 40+
2-2 longer than 50 yards

I think he was recovering from a hamstring injury for most of his senior year.

Panthers are pretty set with Graham Gano as their guy (provided he's healthy) but with those stats, Slye should definitely get a look from other teams
