Most public trollish thing you've did regarding VT

Was just thinking about this earlier today.

Back in 2014, the Durham Bulls made the AAA baseball playoffs, and their first round opponent was the Columbus Clippers. Happened to notice that they played each other at noon on Sept 6, 2014. So my wife and I bought box seats right behind the batter box.

For the maybe 5 or so fans in Columbus who wanted to watch their team in the playoffs while tailgating for the Virginia Tech at Ohio State game, they got to enjoy 9 innings of a Marcus Vick jersey (lowest quality to sweat in during the afternoon sun) right behind home plate, watching their team get eliminated in the playoffs, only to later head into the Horseshoe to watch the Hokies ruin their home opener. I wish I could find a good pic from that game, but its finding a little difficult at the moment, but I have always been happy that I was able to add my own little flavor to the day for maybe one or two people who cared.

Anyone else have some stories about maybe a little thing you've done here or there publicly on behalf of the Hokies?

I'm just saying, both coaching staffs have been replaces, and its been 15 years... I think its ok for someone to finally own up to it.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

With how these kind of things get handled legally nowadays I sure as hell wouldn't admit it without a legal guarantee against prosecution. Kids can get their lives ruined by climbing on the roof of a building these days. Just absurd stuff.

I agree, I would like to know some more details about this, but if it wasn't an inside job on UVa's side, then I would say limit the details in case there is a weakness in the UVa security/stadium that could be exploited again in the future.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

I feel like if this was an inside job, they would've used a paint which would have washed off fairly easily after getting the proof of the "vandalism" and getting ammunition to fire up the team.

However, the only way they could remove the paint was to kill the grass, thus staining the "T" into the field which I think they spray painted green to blend into the rest of the field.

Or maybe they really are just that dumb.

VTFootballGrad knows all the details. He was on staff that year. And he did divulge that it was NOT an inside job. But good luck getting him to say much else on a public forum.

From a quick Google search, it looks like the statute of limitations for vandalism and trespassing are both 5 years. So, even applied consecutively, its well beyond.

Oh, Hokie hero, come out and receive thy richly rewarded praise!

If you play it, they will win.

I knew the guy(s) who pulled this off through a common friend. It was definitely not an inside job and from what I understand was way easier to pull off than you would think.

Personally I think this would be super easy. College football stadiums have some of the worse security. You can walk in to a lot if them very easily. If you know what you are doing you can get into the stands with out a valid ticket at a few stadiums too.

True, a couple of my buddies peed on the uprights at lane north one night.

I was with a friend when he pissed on the 50 of GT 2 days before WVU played GT in the gator bowl .... damn Aaron Murray.

I know all the details. Unfortunately there could be some ramifications if the person is identified, so until that changes I will keep it to myself unless you meet me in person.

So I'm not proud of this one, but it turned out okay. We were leaving the Georgia Dome in 2009 after getting waxed in the 4th quarter by Alabama. There was a dude carrying a huge stack of stadium cups. As we were walking by, I whacked the bottom of the stack and they went flying.

I'm not sure why I did it, but the urge was too much to handle. It turned out that his buddies thought it was hilarious so we all laughed it off and I helped them pick up 30+ cups from the side of the road.

As long you helped me pick em up, I would have laughed as well.

Damn, you got real lucky they thought it was hilarious haha. Could have been real bad.

Yea, I started to apologize while they were mid-flight.

I'm not familiar with this concept of legs. Are they important on this site? How does one go about amassing them? Do you have any?

I made a youtube hype video for the second OSU game using exclusively clips of us on our best play to make it look like OSU was a JV team. That video has 46k views and 11W wrote an article on it.

Great Video

Oh yeah. Great video.

So THAT's what a defense looks like.

I mean, for what it's worth, I can make last year's defense look like that. Cherry picking big plays is easy.

What kind of witchcraft is that? Just kidding - I know what you're saying.

I see what you did there, but all those interceptions and that final score happened in one game.

If you can make the final scores "wins", you're hired.

How have I never seen this? Probably not TKPing hard enough. That's one of the best hype videos I've ever seen. What a night. Hoping for similar outcomes this year.

I was new on the site and dozer's video came out very shortly after.

Just for clarification, I meant it was me that wasn't TKPing hard enough. Nice video.

In 2013, I made a prank Facebook news article that said Bud Foster was going to be the head coach at USCw and it took off and pissed a lot of people off. It made it waaaay outside my circle of friends before dying. I was waiting for mention of it to pop up on TKP.

Freshman year (2009) I was sitting (unfortunately that's what they do) in the UVA student section. I was not shy about wearing my VT garb, so I received multiple insults, but the one that stood out the most was a guy yelling at me relentlessly that he had higher SAT scores than myself.

The game was relatively close through the 3rd quarter so the fans had not left to go enjoy white wine spritzers yet. Between the 3rd and 4th, I got smacked in the back of the head by something. I turn around and there's nothing there. A few minutes later, I get hit in the back with a similar feeling object, I look down and it's a semi-squeezed (to get it juicy) half of lime. I look back up at who would've thrown it and the nice girl behind me helps brush off the pulp/seeds. I wait a few more minutes and act like I'm back into the game when I impulsively whip my head around and catch a guy 5 or so rows up against the stadium stairs, left arm leaning on a crutch, and his right arm cocked back holding a half lime. I stare him down and point at him thinking he's smart enough not to throw it, I turn back around, and get pelted in the back of the head again with a lime.

I leave my seat, walk up the steps to confront him, and all I say was: "That was dumb" as I kick his crutch out from underneath him. He face plants onto the bleachers/steps and tumbles down about 3 rows.

EDIT: I just realized this story stems from the same game as the "VT paint-gait" featured above...maybe they had a right to be mad....

Pelting people with limes while on crutches is such a perfect microcosm of LOLUVA fans it almost defies belief. Like, even if I didn't know what school he was a fan of, just going off the first 7 words of my post I'd be able to guess LOLUVA fan. No other member of any other fanbase in the country would try to pull something like that

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

To be fair it sounds like he had a better arm than the UVA QBs.

He probably did... their QB was Jameel Sewell and lucky for him, he sat next to me in some high school classes at Hermitage.

So I'll take some credit for unknowingly helping out the team by getting him through high school, so he could throw picks and get sacked at UVA.

This really isn't trolling but it came to mind. My Fraternity threw an enormous tailgate outside the Georgia Dome for the Alabama game in 2009. We started tailgating at 9:00 AM for the 8:00 PM kick off. Anyway, Chick-Fil a was walking around handing out free chicken sandwiches and full size foam footballs in the parking lots. An Alabama Fraternity was having a tailgate a few spots down and were just being a bunch of douche bags the whole day. Anyway, as the day goes on, I've got some liquid courage and took a foam football and soaked it with beer. The next scene was something straight out of revenge of the nerds movie, seemed like time slowed down. I chucked this foam football 35 yards and it legit hit this Bama kid right in the head. Everyone at the VT tailgate erupted in applause and the Bama kids didnt do anything but act tough from a distance. Good times...until the 4th quarter Bama comeback.

After we beat WVU a couple years ago at FedEx, I drove all the way from Lewisburg back to Huntington with my VT flags flying on my car. It's 156 miles from the Lewisburg exit to the Huntington exit, and I was going 80 mph most of the way, so you can imagine I passed a lot of angry Mountaineers.

Additionally, during that game, I wore a Marshall hat. After the game, we were waiting for our Uber, and some WVU fan said "that idiot's wearing a Marshall hat too." I kindly reminded him that Marshall was also 1-0 just like VT and unlike WVU.

Sat in the JPJ parking lot after the 2015 UVA game and played Enter Sandman on repeat for 90 consecutive minutes as my friends and I drank all the alcohol we had left in the cooler.

Beat UVA 38-0 at their place on national television.

Gobble Till You Wobble

A friend of mine went down to Raleigh for the 2010 VT NCSU game (Russell Wilson v Tyrod Taylor). His dad went to NCSU and he was a sophomore at VT so they both go and have pretty good seats since his pops was paying.

VT is down 17-0 in the 2nd Q. The entire first part of the game the NCSU fans are giving my buddy hell from behind him (where the seats aren't as good). They were yelling at him that he should leave and we were getting blown out and all that jazz.

Tyrod works his magic and makes the biggest comeback under CFB. My friend turned around after the last VT td that sealed the game, took a long stage bow to see that most of the NCSU fans had already left or weren't able to even look at him.

That was an awesome game. Wilson threw 3 INT that game

I tailgated in the lots and then watched the game from Rudino's right down the street on Edwards Mill because we couldn't get a ticket.

I have never seen a fanbase go from in your face obnoxious to the point of trying to provoke fistfights to vacating the premises tails tucked not wanting to look anyone in the eye as quickly as I saw out of NC State that night. And pretty much everyone from VT who I know down here who went to that game has similar stories as you regarding just how awful they were in the stadium. Personally, I was called a 'fucking faggot' multiple times in the lots and even had a couple douchebags yell about how "not enough of you were picked off in the shooting". Real classy bunch they were that day. By the time Evans ran in that last touchdown to seal it, I looked around the bar and there were maybe 10 of us left in a space that had probably 300-500 people just a few minutes before.

NC State has a bad inferiority complex. They are the red headed step child of the ACC.

Story #2 - Unintentional Troll

Went down to Chapel Hill in 2008 with a buddy, sat in their student section and got some well deserved friendly smack talk since we were playing so poorly. UNC controlled 95% of that game, but we had a Tyrod and he made a 4th quarter comeback to win. The friendly jabbers apologize and say good game and we part ways.

We decide to go out that night in Chapel Hill. We know nothing about Chapel Hill. We ask where the most popular bar is to go to after games and get steered to one specific bar. Little did we know, that's where the UNC players go Saturday nights.

We bust into this bar wearing VT shirts, we're hammered drunk, but civil, we're having a god time. I wouldn't have been able to identify a single one of their players sober let alone drunk, but when I went up and jokingly asked the guy sitting at the bar if he went to the game today, he stood up, dwarfed me, and suggested I "Get the F out of the bar..."

I down my drink and on my way out say "Better luck next year." The next day I sober up, I look up their roster online to see who it was I pissed off, turns out he was a senior and never beat VT.

I was on a work trip in Miami with a coworker who went to UVA. He was dying for me to go to the UVA vs. Miami football game with him, so as any true Hokie football fan would do, I accepted. I went to the game wearing my VT shirt, caught shit from both fan bases and loved every second of it.

While both teams are losers, unfortunately, one of them had to win....

The morning after the 2017 UVA game in Charlottesville, I thought I'd be cheeky by wearing my Tech jersey, pants, and hat to Bodo's bagels right on 'The Corner'. Turns out, there were about 50 other Tech fans who stayed the night doing the exact same thing. We all relished our NY bagel sandwiches outside on the patio and waved to everyone while all the UVA students walked by.

I used to live in Charlottesville, any time I go back, I make sure to wear a shirt pertaining to x amount of years we have won at the time. The HooBooos don't take too well to it. Just remember.. we live RENT FREE in their heads.

Born in Charlottesville, Reborn in Blacksburg

At the 1986 Peach bowl a group of us were walking to the stadium and somehow ended up walking through the NC State VIP lot. It was close to game time and nothing but cars with NC state bumper stickers on them. We had been to bowl event the night before, and ended up with a stack of VT stickers. Used them all up in that parking lot. We laughed all the way home thinking that some NC State fan, after losing the game on a last second kick, drove home with a VT sticker on their car.

I was at that game. Not really trollish per se, but as someone who can't stand "the wave" in a stadium (especially when the game action is going on), it was hysterical to me to watch the NC State fans doing the wave only to see it come to a DEAD STOP when it got to the Hokies' sections. (Also that was the wildest on-field celebration I have been in-well except perhaps the '83 squeaker at Lane North where the goalposts were torn down and removed from the stadium!)

From the 2018 VT-uva game-"This is when LEGENDS are made!"

I wonder what would happen in today's society if the goal post thing were to be attempted? I'd love to see it happen.

When I was in the HTs, we were the pep band for the Women's BBall team, and got to travel to Greensboro for the ACC tourney every year. One year, because we were awful, we were playing the noon game, and in order to fill up the arena a bit, local elementary schools were given free tickets. These kids had no real rooting interest in a VT-GT women's basketball game, but as GT started to come back in the second half, some of them decided to lean GT, and heckle our players during free throws. Being a mature adult, I took exception to this, and politely informed 300 or so schoolkids that the Easter bunny wasn't real. The resulting silence from the kids and death glares from their chaperones were absolutely priceless.

I can't remember, but that may also have been the game where I got threatened with a technical foul for loudly and colorfully questioning a ref's decisions.

Carrying on the HTPB tradition of breaking the awkward silences at WBB games. Well done on the technical warning.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I remember there was that VT football team that beat the UVa football team 15 years in a row.

Yes, those were the days.

When asked in Charlottesville why I'm wearing a VT hat in this town (which I do every day), my go to response is, "It's ok...we have a long term lease on the football stadium here."

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

A buddy and I were both living in Tidewater about 10 years ago and we'd carpool back to Blacksburg (our hometown) throughout the year. Every time we'd make the trip, we'd pick up some Hokie car magnets and throw them on the "Welcome to Charlottesville" sign on 64E as we passed through on our way back to the 757.
