Ask TKP: Which one of you sent in a question to The Athletic's MBB mailbag?

Caveat: Yes, The Athletic is a pay site, so per community guidelines, I'm not going to post the link. Nor am I going to cut/paste the substantive portions of the answer to the question. But the question and the first two paragraphs of the five paragraph answer are so TKP that it had to be someone here. (And this was the second of two VT-related questions.)

Is Va. Tech better off in the long term with Mike Young than the much-traveled Brent Williams? Young wants to be there long term, and it's home for him. Brent was looking to leave as soon as an opening in Texas appeared. — Ron R.

No. 1: I've never heard Buzz Williams referred to as "Brent." I had to pull up his Wikipedia page just to make sure this was actually his real first name. That's ... tremendous.

No. 2: I'm guessing, Ron, that you're not using Williams' ubiquitous nickname as a way of intentionally withholding endearment. If so, this is also tremendous. I enjoy quality sports pettiness as much as anyone, and this is sports pettiness of the highest order. Bravo.

...

So, Bravo to you, Mr. Unnamed TKP Question Submitter. You got moxy, kid. Don't ever let them take that from you.

I had to think about who Brent Williams was too. I only remember a "Brent Snake"?

The Brent stuff is played out sour grapes in my opinion.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

counterpoint: it's hilarious and you're wrong

I get it, but, like the person on The Atlantic, I'm okay with sports pettiness. It's part of what makes sports fun (aside from, you know, the actual games).

Is it childish? Yeah

But are we that serious? Mostly no.

I am not angry at his leaving and I'm very very appreciative of what he did here, so I think the vitriol directed at him is over the top. That being said, I love calling him Brent .

And, if you're referring to Greaseman's old Clinton character, I can not give you enough legs.

I'm guessing you cropped out the rest of the bullet points because it says we'd be better off with Buzz?

Does anyone actually think we wouldn't be better off with Buzz? I don't think that's an argument.

Not really.

oooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr he cropped out the rest of the bullet points because not doing so would have been a CG violation and the point of the post wasn't to debate the merits of having him vs not?

Buzz who? is gone and hypotheticals are absolutely inane at this point. I predict we'll quickly move on if everyone will just let us. The king is dead...Long live the king, Coach Young.

This is a great slight. I still supported Buzz after he jumped ship; it wasn't until after the half-ass thank you to the University and the 'double dolla bill' sign in front of the Johnny Manziel banner that he became dead to me.

Brent did have a couple of moments that were a pleasure to watch. "Quit your cussin'" was a classic. But he gone - so now he's Brent.
