Has anyone had experience taking in baby food pouches? I'm planning on taking my son in before he turns one. He's still eating some purees, mostly in the form of pouches. Obviously, I can't take in regular food for him. As of now, we're dealing with a potential food allergy, so, we're trying to keep him on specific foods.
The hokiesports fan guide says "Diapers and other young child/baby items (must be in clear bag)" under permitted items.
But under prohibited items, they say "Outside food or beverage".
So, do they allow baby food in?

i'd raise such a ruckus if they tried arguing that you couldn't bring in baby food. the idea behind the rule is that they want you to purchase their options rather than bringing in your own, which obviously doesn't apply to baby food since they don't sell it.
you could always just try to wrap the pouches in diapers though.
For most stadiums we've been to that have a "no outside food" policy, baby food is usually not included in that restriction. You should be fine.
Public Service Announcement:
Don't feed the UVa fans.
Put it in airplane bottles, stuff it in your underwear, and sneak it in that way. It's fullproof.
I would suggest using empty air plane bottles, but hey, I'm not a parent
Airplane bottles?
I've been smuggling in full 5th's under my compression pants during the cold games....it's "fool-proof"
I partially fill a couple of freezer bags. Baby food or bourbon - either works.
My wife even was allowed to take in a diaper bag that was not transparent (I think for a Saints game in Nola)
I'm glad you brought this up because we will be bringing my son who will be 8mos this Fall also. I wouldn't have even thought to ask this question. I would hope the answer is that it won't be an issue.
It also gives me a fantastic idea for a new method of bringing in my Bourbon... Inside a baby food pouch in a diaper bag seems much more age appropriate than my old college standby of the double ziplock of whiskey tucked in the front of my pants (which at 36 I have used as recently as this past bowl game).
Better yet....leave the baby food in there and spike it
Hopefully you'll find a better policy than when I had to buy an extra ticket to bring in our 6-month old so that my wife could see a game. That was about the most asinine thing I've heard at any sporting event I've been to (although I hear it's not uncommon).
I get your point, but I'll offer a rationale for that policy.
When I was at the Florida State game last year, there were parents with infants in our row. So the entire row was squished in like sardines. Usually, parents with kids bring extra stuff. So while the child may not really be able to enjoy the game as a spectator, they do take up space.
So maybe it's not "infant-friendly", and maybe it's just being realistic. I don't have a strong opinion either way, but I'm saying I understand it to some degree.
Not really relevant in my case, as we have assigned seats in the SEZ. I literally had to buy a ticket nowhere near our seats. :D
Well, think of it a donation, I guess!
It cost them more in my next year's donation than they got for that ticket though, as we didn't buy an extra seat for my wife. :D
I mean, a football game in general isn't really an infant-friendly event.
Especially with the club access and everything entailed in TDT, it's really a great environment for parents of young kids where we sit. Moms still want to come to games once in a while and we can't all leave an infant with a babysitter for three days. There's just about always a tot somewhere in our section.
I compare it to going to a Carolina Panthers game, where they really go all in to make it an environment where you don't mind bringing the kids.
We consistently bring a couple of pouches, some snacks (fig bars, crackers, goldfish) and my kids are now 3 and 6. You shouldn't have any problem. We use a clear backpack instead of the full blown diaper bag.
Yes, baby food and toddler snacks have always been fine for us. 5 kids and bringing babies since 2001.
I had a colicky son and we had to use a specific formula and room temperature bottled water to mix it. Stadium personnel did want to let us bring in the water, wanted us to purchase cold water in the stadium or use the fountains.
I could be wrong, but I feel like if the staff enforced things like this for baby food there would be a shitstorm of epic proportions.
Took my 1 yr old to a few games last year. Used a clear bag for the diaper bag and loaded it with pouches, pb & j sandwhiches, other snacks and even sippy cups with milk, water, juice etc. Never had any issues with getting them in. Actually never even had to open the bag for them to look through.
Seems like they would let baby food in. Not like he's going to be able to choke down a Turkey Leg.
Needs to TKP harder.
He'll get there.
Good for you taking your youngling into a game. Due to the ticketing policy, I wont be taking mine until she's of a decent age.
I'd think unopened baby food jars would be acceptable. I agree with making a stink if they prohibit you from brining in baby foods. Having to buy a ticket for an infant should give you special privileges in order to care for said infant. If they don't allow it, then they should offer infant foods at the concession stands by law I believe, and since they don't...

I took my daughter to the VT vs Miami basketball game in March when she was 3 mos. We had to take in a clear bag, but her baby food was allowed. However VT has an asinine policy that you have to buy a ticket for your baby to all sporting events in case you didn't know
The most important thing will probably be shade and enough hydration for your kid. Some of those early games can be scorchers with the sun.
What I'm getting from this thread is that the best way to sneak in booze and food into Lane is in a diaper bag. Now I just gotta get a baby....
See if you can find a loaner. Don't think the payoff is big enough to justify a full time one.
You are all far braver than I am. I have a ~1 year old and would be terrified of a meltdown going to a game. Especially between the heat, noise and general disruption to nap time that a Gameday would require.
I have a friend who brought her 8 week old to a game. Slept through the entire game including the flyover before the game.
The thing is, that would be the best case scenario, but maybe not the most likely one.
Too true
I've got kids turning 3 and 7 during the first half of the season, and I'm still not ready to take them to games.
Same here man. Plus mine are little girls and not interested in sports at all. Aaaand the Mrs. and I like to get a little loose before the game and that's just simpler when there's no kids to worry about.
Shit, I've got a 5 year old that I'm still gonna wait 2-3 years before taking to one
Just fly it in on paper airplanes and have it air dropped to your section.
Shouldn't the headline read:
Lane Stadium Rules!!! Taking in baby food?
