What is everyone eating and drinking to kick off the season? 4 o'clock game is actually perfect for this imho. I am going to airfry some wings to get us through the first half, will have some smoked ribs ready for dinner during half time and several different chips and dips ready. Beer fridge is fully stocked for in game drinking and I have 5 unopened bottle of whiskey and bourbon to celebrate or commiserate afterwards. And go!

Send me some wings n ribs?
Kinda last-minute, but I might be going to this game
May not travel well but sure
Hope you got a parking pass. That stadium is not geared toward having fans from outside college station.
That said, I will be there too. However the last two times I've been to games at BC, it did not end well for the good guys.
I've decided to head to KC, instead of BC. Never been, and can't wait to try their excellent bbq options.
Get some lobstah!
Buff chick dip, jalapeno popper dip, and I'm open to suggestions for beer. Anyone have a good opening day beer for me to drink a million of?
Looking to make some buffalo turds and smoking some whole chickens. Both beer fridges are busting at the gills, but probably will grab the Slip Ons from RAR to drink thru the day.

You lost me a buffalo turds

The chicken is barely visible...but it's there.

Those turds look delicious! (Never thought I'd type that...)
today's context-free quote of the day brought to you by smittyvt32949
smittyvt32949 needs to add that to his new sig line.
Great, now I'm starvin'
Slighty OT, but I will be in Myrtle for this game, any locals know of Hokie friendly bars to watch?
Mulligans in Little River
Thee Dollhouse. Great service.
Lol
I've heard that from reliable sources (sources being me senior year of high school)
Somewhere that carries the ACC network.
Grilled wings, most smothered in Franks Red Hot, and a batch using "The Last Dab" a la Hot Ones on YouTube.
Slow cooked steak finished under the broiler for some barbacoa street tacos.
Brand-new sixtel keg of Dry Hopped Kolsch from Settle Down Easy Brewing in the kegerator.
Jack Daniels.
I don't know but Drink in these Ryan Willis highlights from last year to get ready for the game:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_xtdp-eCi4
yeesh. watching that made me a little uneasy with not having Kumah this year.
I'll be at SML (probably burgers/brats and loads of beer) or Mac's Speed Shop in Greensboro (wings and loads of draft beer).
What's a good place near Alumni Stadium for food before the game up there? Since i'll be at the game.. :)
There's an old thread here that had a few suggestions - seems like I remember people heading over to Newton Centre just west of Chesnut Hill for food and drink.
The food isn't that great, but it is convenient, Cityside Bar. Ever since Roggies shut down there isn't much in the way of good game day wings / bar food. You can hop right back on the T and BC is 3 stops away.
I was thinking of coming up from the Cape for the game, but I have been to BC four times now and, well, that whole environment just sucks the life out of a college football game. There is no easy way to get there (plus I'll have horrendous bridge traffic getting on & off Cape on a holiday weekend), no parking, and no tailgating. Take the T, with the dozens of stops every 500 feet? Nope, did that once and never again. Drive to a remote lot and take a 20 minute bus ride from there (and then wait on a bus until it fills up before they drive you back)? That has been the best option, but that still blows. No tailgating, shitty concession food, no alcohol, and ten minutes before kick-off the stadium is 75% empty. The best option is probably my couch.
But, it's my Hokies and they are playing 60 or so miles from me. My VT flag will be flying outside of my house and if I can get my son off to college in time this weekend, I still may say 'WTF?' and go.
At least you can get it!
"Waiting on bus" = Boston hospitality!
Uber!
We are staying right on the coast of Boston - says the T is an hour ride to the stadium.. Not knowing the city, parking and etc.. There is tailgating now (3+ hours for a 4 pm start)..
Whatever food they serve at Disney ESPN Club.
Shutup.
This isn't a good thing bruh. No guarantee they have sound on for game.
ESPN Club is pretty cool, though. It's Disney.
I'm competing with Bama fans so we shall see how cool it is. But it's my only option to watch game.
I am sure that HokieEnginerd will cook something over a flame... I will be drinking Captain and Coke.
For those in the Roanoke Valley area, I'll be stocked with several growlers from the Hammer and Forge brewery on 220 in Boones Mill. It's a great little brew pub, the owner Caleb is a fine brewer. Nothing he makes is boring, that is for certain. He usually has 10 or 12 different things on tap. I am hoping he still has Romanov's Return, a Russian Imperial Stout, yumI. And for the BC game I'll get at least a couple of jugs of Wicked Watah, a really nice New England IPA. https://www.hammerandforgebrewing.com/
That is a nice Brewery.. Parkway or Big Lick are still my favs.. Deschutes is good and fun for Trivia on Sundays.
Parkway has my favorite beer in the area (Raven's Roost), Big Lick I think has some of the best beer overall, and Olde Salem rounds out my top 3. I also really like Chaos Mtn. but they're a hike for me, so I usually only get their bottles.
Gonna be at a flyball tournament all day Saturday, so probably won't be able to catch most of the game. Hopefully I can find it on the hotel TV just before it ends
Whelp that was worth the google... couldn't have been farther away of what I was picturing in my mind....
Good Luck!
Yup. Glad I googled...but wasn't what I was expecting either.
Did much better in Baltimore than the team did in Boston.
I'll be at Carolina Beach and I'm worried the condo won't have the ACCN and the manager hasn't emailed me back yet.
Anyone know of any bars that would likely show the game in Carolina/Kure Beach? Longshot I know.
Not sure about those areas, but Wilmington would be under 30 minutes and there are plenty of options up there like the Carolina Ale House where I've watched several Hokie Games. Good news is you are in ACC country, so I bet one of those beach bars will have the package.
Bar food! Comcastshit no have ACCN!
I am in the same boat. Let me ask y'all non-drinkers something: sitting in a bar and not drinking for an extended period like a football game, is it still entertaining? I will not be drinking at that is new for me.
You can come visit us and watch the game at our house!
Right now I can barely make the drive to work otherwise I would definitely consider that.
If you are invested in the game, it's fine. And if you have other Hokies or at least people interested in the game (either from a monetary stand point or simply football stand point) you will be fine. It's not as odd as you might think.
I had to find a bar open at 6 am in hawaii to watch VT play once. It was fine, I was the only Hokie fan in there, and at 6 it was just me and te bartender. Some other football fans mad it in fir the 9:30 games.
Grilled cheese sandwich:
Shredded buffalo chicken
Provolone & fresh mozzarella
Fried heirloom tomato
Avocado
Plenty of butter on fresh bread
Whatever local California beers I find at the store where I buy the rest of these ingredients
Yahkni and aash. Veggie omelet, beef patty, and Cipro. Chai. Lots of chai.
Hopeful to be able to find some sort of streaming service with the game on. We'll be in Mons, Belgium for the 75th anniversary of the Tanks in Town. Game time is 2200 there, so hopefully I can stream the game on my phone with some headphones and not interupt daughters sleep in the Air BnB. My hope for food is to have some nice and fresh Belgian frites and a possible waffle or two to be washed down by some St Bernardus Abt12 or a Tripel Karmeliet or three.
Grilled wings. Hardywood Richmond Lager while watching nooners and grilling, followed by WT101 for the game.
Bowman Brothers Single Batch Virginia Whiskey
Fairwinds Quayside Kolsch (such a refreshing easy drinking beer)
Port City Integral IPA
Glory Days Buffalo Garlic Wings
And hopefully a Perez Carrillo La Historia post game celebratory cigar!
Question: is everybody still hungover (in the bad way) yet??
What's that? I just woke up, is it still Saturday?
