BC game Injuries from my front row perspective (Holston)

Do not post that often, but first off I joined TKPers club a couple days ago, you should too if you haven't already.

Sorry to add another forum to a frustrating night, just wanted to give my perspective. I was standing in the front row of the endzone near the visitors section, so I got to see who was going in and out of the locker room.

Injuries that knocked players out of the game:
-Tyree Rodgers: Absolutely demolished that guy on the kick return but he went head first, the hit ripped his helmet up. Nose was bleeding. Did not see him on the field after that so I'm guessing he had a concussion.

-Jalen Holston: Holston got hurt and went to the locker room after his fumble. He came out and was limping for the rest of the game on the sideline, wasn't able to walk it off, so it looks like they held him out of the game. My guess is an ankle sprain. But he did not get benched.

-Tyjuan Garbutt: Tyjuan's left arm was completely dead even when he came out in street clothes, was just dangling there. This was really early on, got hit on a blindside block. Looks like his shoulder was dislocated by the way it was hanging, hopefully it wasn't that bad.

-Jovonn Quillen: Jovonn Quillen was on crutches and his mom was pissed when he told her whatever was wrong. Left leg or ankle.

-Mega Jesus: Hoyt was a bad one. I was in the first row and everyone knew something was wrong and immediately gestured to the sideline. No movement in his knee when being taken off the field.

We had a bunch of guys get dinged up and missed a drive on both sides of the ball.

Other things to note: the sideline was completely different than last year, the team stayed together and kept fighting and supporting each other even when we were down 14 late. They truly felt like they could still win and never gave up. Fuente was a lot more active and energized on the sideline than I've seen before, celebrating with the players throughout the game which was a really encouraging thing to see. Second, there was a ridiculous amount of VT fans there, literally thousands. Only wish we had a better chance to make some noise. Third, serving alcohol in the stadium is a no brainer.

Finally, those WRs are legit and such a deep position. Just gotta get the ball to them. Will leave the football analysis to the actual experts

Wow thanks for the insight but that sounds like some possibly serious injuries to a few guys. I really hate it for those kids with this happening in game 1.

Using /s is for cowards.

If Garbutt was hurt on the play I'm thinking of (right by the vt sideline near the beginning of the game) it seemed like the exact type of play the new blindside hit rule is trying to remove...and yet they didn't even call a foul on it.

That would suck for him to be out an extended amount of time with all the good we heard throughout camp.

Throughout the game the coaches were looking up to the scoreboard for a replay so that they can protest calls or make a case for a missed call. Yet they barely showed replays unless it was a scoring play way after the fact.

They ask you how you are and you just have to say that you're fine when you're not really fine.

Glad to see someone actually there commenting on Fuente on the sideline. All we see on TV are small cuts to him.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

On tv we only see him for 1 second right before the play.... when he's waiting to see what happens, so he really shouldn't be doing anything exciting. Which is why its frustrating that they only show him then. He was also really concerned with all of our players when they went down, you usually see coaches getting the next guy ready but he was more concerned with the injured player.

Gotta love playing Boston College in the first game of the season. They're not a dirty team like Georgia Tech under Paul Johnson, but they're physical, and you're damn lucky to escape without any injuries if you play them.

Thanks for the up close updates. I really hope Garbutt can get healthy before October, we need his pass rushing skills badly, I didn't see Belmar, Adams, Becton, or Griffin win a battle with an OT all day in the passing game.

Also hope Holston's injury is minor, we need a back over 190 pounds to go to when we need a few yards in between the tackles.

Lastly, good to hear about the team's demeanor, like Fireman said they didn't really pan to Fu too much throughout the game other than him trying to fire up the team at the end of the first half. Despite the frustrations with the offense, I don't see the quit in the team that crept in last year, allowing us to lose by multiple TDs's.

Hoyt's injury sounds bad, which I hate for the guy but hope Harris can take advantage of opportunity.

I think Malik Bell could help out here.

Is coronavirus over yet?

Lets heal up

Hoping we can get a somewhat transparent injury report from Fuente. All those mentioned, plus Deablo got dinged up, Turner, and Hazelton was already sidelined. Not good Bob!

Great, now you're making it seem worse than I originally thought.

Fuente mentioned in post game interviews that Hazelton had a lingering hamstring issue, not discipline related. He also elaborated a bit saying it has been there awhile and something that is hard to overcome.

He was warming up with the punt returners and was pretty active. They might've just not worked him into the rotation on offense yet

They ask you how you are and you just have to say that you're fine when you're not really fine.

Go listen to Fuente on the post game. He talked quite a bit about it. He's not putting him out there until he's 100% and no setbacks. Sounded frustrated for Hazelton.

Sideline reporting and an endorsement of TKPC.

Holston had surgery so he'll be out for a while.

Thank goodness for King & McClease. Even though McClease looked (was) rusty this Sat, I still trust him to step in for relief of King. Just need that line to open up some gaps.

was dislocated by the way it was hanging, hopefully it was that bad.

What kind of monster are you? /s

uva sucks

Guessing it was meant to be "just" or "only". Dislocated shoulders can be healed in a matter of weeks with no surgery.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.
