OT: Destiny 2 Shadowkeep

Just wanted to start a thread for the Destiny nerds like myself. I haven't played Destiny 2 in over a year, but I decided to get the Shadowkeep expansion because it seemed like Destiny 2 was starting to trend back towards a similar game play as Destiny 1. I stopped playing Destiny 2 mostly because the Raids (the part I loved the most about Destiny 1) were terrible IMO. I was not disappointed yesterday when I started playing Shadowkeep and got all the feels from the nostalgia of being back on the moon with damn near the same layout as D1. I'm looking forward to the Raid release on Saturday (even though I won't be able to play for the next 12 days) because it has promised to return to similar D1 Raids. How is everyone else in the Destiny community feeling about Shadowkeep?

It's so good but I'm hearing a lot of negative feedback about the campaign. I think a lot of people are missing that there's a ton of unreleased content that comes throughout the season and the raid is going to be a direct continuation of the story. The power grind hasn't been too bad. Crucible is better on console than it has been in all of D2. I'm excited for the future of the game and helping new players learn all about it with New Light arriving.

It's not a full campaign. It's the introduction of a story that is supposed to dynamically play out throughout the course of the year with new seasonal events and new DLCs.

That's what I was getting at.

I saw a lot of people complaining that the expansions is just a re-hash of a lot of the old bosses and the just gave them different names but it's like playing the strikes and story from D1. I loved D1 so I'm not at all disappointed by any of that.

Just wish there was new loot. Yeah a couple exotics and one set from Eris, but I was not excited to pull a Bad News as my first world drop.

Maybe Zavala will actually give me a Service Revolver this season though, since his loot pool hasn't expanded.

The campaign/content should be fine as the season goes on... we're just going to need more loot.

I've been on it pretty much since launch. I admin a clan and we have three day one groups that are getting ready. Working on my third character and should hit light around 930 for raid launch. Hoping the Vex Invasion contributes some needed depth to the season. Overall, it's good fun. I've been having a blast with finishers and the few new exotics that are available.

I downloaded it yesterday and am waiting for the servers to calm down and the bugs to figure themselves out, plus i travel for work next week so I'll probably start it when I get back Sunday. I'm excited, I stopped playing for a bit after black armory to grind League for ranked but now that I'm at the elo I want to be at I can put time to other games (like this one). I'm probably overly excited about those new melee skills I've been seeing on reddit xD

They'll really get after ya

Just realized I can finally port my console guy to PC so downloading it on steam so I can play on my PC at work during breaks and lunch hopefully the old beast will handle it on low settings.

Man, I want to play soooo bad. I really loved Destiny 1, but stopped for kid #1. I started playing again with Destiny 2, but had to stop to study for my PE and have kid #2 eleven days after the PE test. I don't think playing is in the cards for at least another year :(

The Pyramid Ships are FINALLY making an appearance. The artwork with that is amazing. I'm digging it ok so far. Revisiting old parts of the EDZ for the riskrunner was cool. I went ahead and dropped the $60 on the whole thing so I hope the Activision-less Bungie really runs wild with it. I'm not liking the limited quest space and the fact that I have yet to have an auto rifle drop AT ALL.

Gonna play some the next few days before I drop 35$ on the expansion plus I'm still debating picking up BL3

I already got BL3 and it is amazing except the input lag on console is pretty rough. They're supposed to be working on a patch. I think Destiny's tight controls have ruined us for other games.

I do miss my Zane movement speed when coming back to Destiny though. Floaty McWarlock feels like he's running in mud.

The auto from the Lectern is decent with a good roll and can be had via grinding. Loving the new vex activity... now I just gotta get raid ready and more importantly get a squad together.

FYI everyone there are now videos on how to glitch to a raid chest. Will drop raid-specific mods and can be farmed on each of your characters - made easier by going in with a group.

The hand cannon from the Vex Invasions has almost negative recoil on PC. After using HCs that kick like broncos, it's silly how stable it is.

Oh man even with the range nerfs, hand cannons feel AMAZING on console now. The recoil change has been huge. And the nerf was done well, so that I actually have reason to use scouts and whatnot now.

The only update I'm immediately not a fan of is the armor mods being tied to damage types with no easy way to tell what falls into which type

I've actually seen the hand cannon nerf as less of a HC nerf (I know it is one) but more of an scout buff. HCs are still crazy strong at the midrange engagement and just lost a little bit at their top range end which most people rarely used outside of Ace of Spades. Scouts feel real good again on red bars and a lot of the environments on Luna/VO have great sightlines for them.

I will agree with you that armor 2.0, while an improvement on the random roll farming that was 1.0, is very opaque. I would love to see what mods I have and don't have, what polarizations they are tied to, and what an armor's max stats would be when masterworked. There is just a lot of behind the scenes stuff you need to do to get there. I have most of the polarizations memorized due to the raid race but still find myself trying to remember which polarization an obscure new mod is and if it is on class item v head armor.

Just hopped on for first time on PC and man HC's feel smoother now than they did a month ago. Love the added finishing moves as well. Havent sunk into armor 2.0 so we shall see on that.
