Leonard's Speedy Clemson v Hokies CMYBall Preview

Holy Bleeping Bleep, Basketball starts tomorrow.

Who: Virginia Tech takes on the Non-Dabo Tigers
Where:The not so cozy confines of LIttleJohn Arena.
When: 7:00 pm on DA U. (Actually not DA U, DA OTHER U owned by Disney.)

Not much to say here other than it's kind of cool that the Hokies are jumping into an ACC tilt not a week removed from Halloween.

I have no idea how this team will look. CMY probably doesn't either, but fuck it... let's ball. Bede, Wilkins, and Horne will probably start since they are probably the only ones on the team who are over 18, and have actually seen an ACC arena. Other than that, I can't call it. Nolley will also, maybe, probably start since he's actually sat on the sideline of a college game in street clothes.

The good news is, Clemson doesn't know much about their team either, but their new guys are grad transfers who can drink.

Prediction: A sloppy rock fight where Clemson eventually posts the 7 point win. 76-69. Aftwards, the Clemson guys will buy the Hokie kids beer because they don't even have their fake IDs yet.

Looks like a starting roster has been posted. Surprised seeing Cattoor get the start.

Yikes, it's going to be a long year. Little shocking Cattoor is getting the start over Cone. Even more shocking we're playing Nolley at center.

Nolley at center? where do you get that? Horne is the "Center" in that lineup.

CMY has confirmed that Nolley, although a traditional "3" will play as a "stretch 4" this year out of necessity. Which should be fine tbh. 6'7" with some muscle can handle the 4.

Horne will start at the 5, which is fairly concerning due to his lack of height. Not really other options though. Branden Johnson was a backup at Alabama State and John Ojiako has literally only played 2 years of basketball in his life, both at the high school level.

PJ can play bigger than he is though, so hopefully he can be kind of a poor man's Zach LeDay this year.

Admit it, you were drinking when you wrote this. It just seeps that fine aroma of hops and mash.
JK.... glad you got us riled up for this game, Bring on CMY-Ball!

Disagree.

Don't think this will factor in for VT this season, but crucial ACC seeding comes down to the final day of the season. Making 14 out of the 15 teams start off the season without any chance to develop team chemistry hurts them in the long run. All that for a chance to show off the ACC Network.

Half agree. I like seeing good basketball (see: better than Alabama State) for the opening week, but hate that it's only for the bullshit network that nobody can even watch

I just said it's kind of cool... and if you take a look in the mirror and are truly honest with yourself, you will have to kind of agree.

Leonard. Duh.

ACC is moving to 20 games this season, tough to fit those all in during January / February.

IMO this type of schedule will end up favoring teams like VT that tend to build veteran lineups and play mostly juniors and seniors. The Dukes and UNC's of the league with fab freshmen getting major minutes are the ones going to suffer more from lack of chemistry and time on the court.

Of course this season we're in the 'tons of new faces' boat so it sucks to open with a league game, but at least Clemson has a bunch of new players too.

You and TheFifthFuller need to do a collab piece each week

Pretty much my reaction after reading this. A huge thanks for the reminder.

Excited to see the young guys . I'm really interested in what the rotations will be. Obviously having a top 20 team is way better, but having a rebuild year with no expectations will be easier on my stress levels than viewing almost every game as a must-win
