I think at this point, every single Hokie is pretty livid about the whole uva ticket thing. Even though I got my tickets by donating the $100 (as much as it broke my Hokie heart), let's use all of this as fuel for noise on Friday. For those that got their tickets refunded and got screwed by the website being closed until kickoff, let's just make it that much more known that Hokies are rocking the house. This should be an opportunity to be louder and ever. When we blow them out by 28+, let's all cheer like we've never cheered before and make it known that no matter what you do, Hokie fans will be there. Don't try to deter us from coming to the game, because we'll want to show up that much more.
I hope you all are AS AMPED UP AS I AM! GO HOKIES, LET'S SEND THOSE BOO HOOS HOME CRYING LIKE ALWAYS!

Hell Yes!!!! FUCK UVA!!!
There's apparently a work around for that 100 donation thing. I saw someone bring it up on thesaber yesterday, and there's currently a Reddit post about It right now. Gimme a second, I'll link it.

Edit: looks like Virginia fans got the Uva website to patch it. Bitches.
It's been fixed apparently
They caught onto it. A buddy of mine did that and they refunded his tickets but not the donation, and now they've shut down the website so nobody else can do it.
Did they also refund the folks who made the donation?
That makes no sense.
That's bs if true. Everyone should call their credit card company and dispute the donation. Completely induced by fraud if they didn't get their tickets out of it. Guarantee they're going to try and double dip now to get a second donation out of people for the tickets.
Update:
Here's what I read:
They gave refunds to folks who made less than the required donations for their tickets, and voided the tickets. I'd assume they gave full refunds. If not, I'd dispute it with the credit card company, or better yet, call the UVa ticket office and give the full donation to get your tickets.
This is a messy look for UVa. If they had a loophole in their selling service, it's a bit lame to cancel folks' tickets. But yes, they should treat their patrons fairly.
If your friend got a refund because they didn't donate enough, but are willing to go with the required donation, call their ticket office and get it straightened out. The entire thing was silly enough to confuse folks.
Pretty lame that the UVa folks would rather eat their tickets than sell to anyone who isn't a wahoo. Yet they claim no knowledge of a rivalry.
***dislaimer***: All of this ticket information is just stuff I read on the internet, and not from an official source.
Hmmmmm. Obviously, you can dispute a charge that was for goods or services not received. I'm not sure if you can dispute a charitable donation. However, since UVa is requiring patrons to donate in order to receive said goods or services, I believe there would be a case.
I don't know why you couldn't reverse a required donation, if you didn't get the goods and services promised.
I would think that even UVa would reverse it, in order not to get a black eye over it.
Or, just plus up to the required donation and get your tickets restored.
This all, of course, pending the internet rumors being true, and not just a fabrication.
If it were simply a gratuitous donation, totally agree. But it was consideration for and a condition precedent to the opportunity to purchase tickets. If their site advertised that you had to donate in order to buy tickets, they took your donation, and you got no tickets, there was misrepresentation involved in inducing your donation. Easily should be disputable.
My friend said he got refunded for the tickets, but not the $10 donation.
That's complete crap. He should get all his money back.
He should call them and complain until they refund it.
There's a work around nobody has mentioned. Donate to the HC and get your tickets through our ticket office. Just saying.
The 4,300 tickets didn't make it past golden Hokies.
Negative.
If that were the case, I wouldn't have 4 tickets.
Seriously that's the exact note I was given by VT ticket office and Hokie Club.
They probably just told you that because it was a quick and easy way to tell people they didn't get them without having to explain the priority point system. I, like ScottRVA below, am O&M and have been donating, getting season tickets, away games, etc. for a while.
I am Orange & Maroon - and I got two. (Near the top of the upper level, but still got them). BUT I have been donating 10+ years, bought bowl games, away tickets that give extra points in your ranking.
Or... do what I'm doing and just drive to Charlottesville Friday morning and buy one on the street. There will be tickets flowing. Always is.
'Tis true.
This entire thing reflects very cowardly on UVA. They are so insecure and scared of VT taking over their stadium again. You know what you can do keep that from happening? Show up to your damn team's game. Absolute pansies.
Unfortunately if enough Hokies make the donation and buy tickets i would expect uva to continue the policy
Just consider it part of the purchase price. They sell out one game, every other year.
These assholes got so worried about ticket sales and us taking over Lane that they literally had to quit selling tickets on their website 2 days before the game. We're living rent free in their heads, boys.
Rent free with a compulsory $100 donation that is
UVA trying to keep Hokies from coming:
Isn't that theft if they "donated" then only got tickets refunded? Or was it only the people that used the workaround to get their tickets that got refunded
There's nothing quite like owning someone else's stadium. Let's Go, Hokies!
I mean, its *technically* their stadium
I guess the scam where you weaseled out of the donation didn't work.
Anyone who did this apparently will get their tickets nullified and a refund.
So if anyone here used the donation loophole, you'll be needing to re-buy your tickets, I think.
Do we really need any more motivation?
It's UVA, fuck them and everything they stand for. I want to beat them 100-0 every time we play them, regardless of the circumstances.
So if you make the "donation", that makes you a booster correct? So let's say you just happen to see current or prospective UVA athletes and happen to give them Hardee's coupons. Would this be a NCAA violation?
I doubt it. If it was then you'd have and endless sea of NCAA violations. Could you imagine what the likes of Auburn and Alabama would do if this was a possibility? They'd probably be able to show you donated to VT Athletics or have season tickets and get it dismissed as a conspiracy against them.
From the NCAA website.
But if you're a "booster" for multiple schools, you'd probably get all schools in the same amount of trouble for such a violation, even if it's a recruit that we aren't pursuing. Best not to risk it.
Good point. I was thinking that you would cause issues with your own school after I posted that.
Next year, uva@c folks are only allowed in Lane if they wear Tech gear, are already collecting SS, and are also members of the Hokie Club.
I'm OK with requiring a donation for that game in Lane.
From Hokies or from Hoos.
Mostly, I like it being a sellout. Not sure what the recent numbers have been.
So could I earmark the donation? Like "For maroon field paint". Or "tissues for football team". Cause that's what I would have done.
I am thinking about (last minute) running over there Friday for the game. If I can, where should I park? Where to scalp tickets? Never been there before.
Only a half-serious reply, but ever since watching this movie I always figured I'd seek this place out the next time I made it to Charlottesville.
So if you made a donation to LOLUVA are you not a donor/booster now? So just buy a LOLUVA hat and slide some cash to a recruit that they want and we don't and... forward the video to the NCAA?
This isn't all that hard. It's an unethical-pro-life-tip but if that's the game that LOLUVA is playing, then... game on?
Agreed. Someone find out what makes an official donor. We may have a serious loophole here!
I think you'd find that if you also qualify as a VT booster (and any booster club donations or season ticket purchases would qualify you for that), VT would get in just as much trouble as UVA, even if the recruit isn't a current target.
Probably. Maybe it's enough to make a LOLUVA fan twitter account and tweet at recruits.
