So there was a comment about jokingly run out of the tunnel with a Texas flag. It got me thinking about Iowa State and they allow their players to have the state flag or country where they came from. I think this idea would be great for the Hokies. I know Texas people in general have an enormous amount of state pride but I think any kid would be happy to rep their state on their teams helmet.
I posted this idea to twitter and Beau Davidson "liked" it as have a good number of other fans. My question is this, is anyone really quality at graphic or photoshop work who could do a mock-up of what it would look like? I'm posting Iowa States for reference.
What is everyone's thoughts on this?

I think that's a great idea. As you said, a lot of kids do love the opportunity to represent where they are from and any time you can give them that opportunity, that's a powerful recruiting tool.
Texas, Florida, Virginia and North Carolina kids would love it.
Which is pretty much what our entire roster is made up of. Just sprinkle in some Georgia boys

If you or someone else can find me good pictures of the back of helmets then it's really easy. I have an exam at 2 but after that I can churn these out pretty quick.

Just be careful as the Chilean national flag is very similar to the Texas state flag, although I wouldn't care since I'm Chilean.

So group thoughts here. Since I can only put 4 pictures in a tweet do I do an idea tweet followed by 5 separate tweets for each "blank2VT" for a total of 6 tweet thread? Or other ideas y'all have for this?
I think maybe put the 4 state pictures together, and then follow that with the Bradburn pic since it's a little different/not really a pipeline.

I really love this idea. Great for personal pride, "This is Home Too" etc. May I add a second option for consideration?
Only thing that bumps me about them is that it's a little busy, visually - and a lot of the flags won't be ones we, as fans, may know...
What about a decal (same-ish size as the flag decal) of the players home state, outlined in burnt orange?
Could serve as a riff on the state flag idea without simply ripping off ISU's idea (let me reiterate: I would be totally cool with simply ripping off ISU's (great) idea, but I think the state outlines could look a little more stealthy/"easter egg"-y).

Dalton Keene's is going to be pretty boring.
Not trying to hate, but I don't like it. It's a cool idea, but the state flags look too blocky and out of place.
I think it'd work a lot better and look a lot nicer if somehow they were a little opaque and had the helmet color from underneath coming through. Or another way to show the state flag without as blatant visible outer borders of a flag.
Or we do a burnt orange state/country shape decals denoting the player's home state/country.

To those mentioning the idea of a state outline, I think it would be a cool way of incorporating the player's state in little more discrete way. We also already have a Virginia outline on at least some of the helmets similar to what y'all are talking about (see below). I'll try and mock up one for at least Texas, but I'm guessing it's beyond my very limited photoshop capabilities.

So I'm a fan of minimalism and I think it would be better if it was a small orange outline of their state. Could be maroon for white helmets, etc...
