RIP Coach Boone. The man did a hell of a job in a tough situation.

RIP to Coach Boone! Probably my favorite movie as a kid. Also one of the better movie soundtracks of all-time IMO.

I wonder how long the real coach Boone would last in today's CoddleTheKids culture? He was a hard-ass who told it like it was, and was not scared in the slightest to flip the table in order to get shit done.

We played T.C. Williams the Saturday after the movie opened. Coach Boone and a bunch of former players were there. Wish I had a chance to meet him. We crushed them, but it was a cool experience. My high school was in the movie as well. They referred to it as an "all white" school/team, which was not true at all. The school was desegregated from the time it opened in 1968.

My wife and I will occasionally yell "Left Side..... Strong Side" at each other. No real significance, it's just fun.

RIP Coach.

My brother played RB on West Springfield's varsity in 71-72, and there was some ugliness between the two schools back then. I remember a mini-riot during a basketball game at West Springfield between fans & players.
