Last one I can think of is Michael Brewer but he's a transfer.
Best I can find is Michael Malone in 2002, Moses Malone's son.

Interesting, that wouldn't have been too random either with Moses Malone hailing from Petersburg.

Well, according to an article in the Roanoke Times today, that Michael is not Malone, but Michael Moses a walk on. Further states that it has been at least '87 since we signed a high school kid from TX, until yesterday when we added 4 star Alec Bryant.
Does he count?
His name was Michael Malone - Moses' son.
