I miss this rivalry. I hate UVA, but it comes nowhere close to what my hatred used to be for WVU. We could have had some epic matchups with them right after we decided to stop returning to Morgantown given the emergence of Pat White and Steve Slaton. I understand why Weaver had to end the series, though.

One of my favorite VT games! I was in the MVs and seeing Davis come at us 3 different times in the 3rd quarter was so awesome! We ran them out of the building.

Vick standing in the pocket delivering a laser to the TE up the seam for a 72 yard TD on 2nd and 19. Slowikowski (sp?) was running as fast as he could, I wasn't sure he was gonna make the end zone, but he got there!

I got an email the other day saying that VT takeover day on the ACCN is April 26th (Sunday). Perhaps they'll replay the WVU game. I hope so, missed it totally the other day.

It would be cool to just get a WVU-VT montage. It was always an epic matchup. My personal favorite was the 2004 game where Jim Davis blocked the field before the half and Vinnie Fuller returned it for a touchdown. WVU was ranked 6th and had national championship aspirations after being co-Big East champs the year before. We put an end to those aspirations the same way they did to us the year before.

I've flipped off my fair share of WVU fans in my day. It can't be seen now because HokieTapes was taken down and I don't think Phreak's highlights included it, but at the end of the 2004 game, backup tight end Jared Mazzetta flipped off the WVU fan section after Bryan Randall kneeled the ball.

Might be my favorite VT result. There were 2 WVU guys at work (one was actually very nice) and the mom of a WVU student (she was also quite nice). I do not talk trash and consider it bush-league, but will respond. They were giving me a hard time for a couple days and I remember the "someone's going to the championship game" line mentioned. We are back in the office the following Monday. The 3 of them are sitting in the kitchen with forlorn looks. I just walk by the table and comment "someone's going to the championship game. And we know who it isn't."

which year?Thanks, Mod!
Oh shit, this is the game where Andre Davis went OFF. And also one of the hardest hits in Lane Stadium history
Someone should record this hit with sound for a better version than the potatovision clip on Youtube today.
Wayne Ward 4 President
I was in the band in the far endzone and we heard this hit.
Oops, yep, thanks Mod! My bad, I think this was the first Forum topic I've ever originated.
I didn't want to put the score or any details in case anyone might not know the result.

Yeah, I'd like to see us play them on a more regular basis.
Am I the only one that still gets nervous watching games I know we win?!
or cringes watching the end of the opening drive in the national championship game?!

Signal boost - this is now. Thanks CapeHokie for letting us all know!
Just bought a bottle of bourbon and tuned in. Is it weird I have goosebumps?
These are my favorite endzones
I hate that they skipped through a whole 1st quarter where we shut them out to show a WVU scoring drive.
TIme constraints? That sucks

THEY DIDN'T SHOW A LEE SUGGS PUNT BLOCK!?!
Time constraints suck.

Wayne ward just got ejected for targeting π€π€π€π€
Man it feels so good to watch VT when they hit on all cylinders. Took that shit for granted.
I want to go to TOTS and drink 3 rails so badly.
Watching this with my roommate who had never seen the Wayne Ward block before. He said "oh shit!"
God what could have been this year and years after with just some simple changes.
My biggest thing is that we should have used our momentum to recruit beyond VA more effectively.
This was a beautifully called 2nd half by Rickey Bustle.
So weird he went from that to being the HC of a high School team in Georgia now.
No! I missed it. I blame work. Need Hokietapes back.
I wholeheartedly endorse this comment.
Uhh did no one see that the VT FSU national championship is on the ACC network???
I honestly don't think I remember ever watching this game before. We were so close in the third. Ricky Bustle and Vick were unstoppable together.
my feed stopped after the 3rd quarter. as far as I know, the game ended after that...
According to my guide, they're playing this game again at 5 AM on ESPNU.
My DVR is set.
Mine too

If they air the 2005 game, I'm sure that the part where MV5 told the crowd that they were #1 would be lost to "time constraints".

Ah yes, freshman year, so many fights in the stands, and that game came down to a huge interception, we rushed the field. It rained.
I read online that things were less than pleasant in the south end zone after the game.

The collective "Ooooh" when Ward makes that de-cleater still gives me goosebumps
This was one of the games that hokietapes didn't have on his youtube page and could have copied and put on there for us. Damn you youtube!
Anyone know where/how I can watch this online? Missed it on ESPN
