OT: Congrats to my fellow spring 2020 graduates

We don't get the graduation we all imagined, but we did it nonetheless. If you are a spring 2020 graduate, make it be known!

graduating in aero and ready to be done. it's been an amazing four years!

Graduated High School In 2002. I've taken a lot of twists and turns, 4 states, 5 schools and 1 Associates of Applied Science but I just finished my last three classes Friday and I'll have my Bachelors in Emergency Managment in my hand "soon". Then on to Masters program. But of course I finish up the year where there is no graduation ceremony or celebrations.

Congrats to all my fellow grads

I similarly graduated HS in 2000 and VT in 2016. I hope you aren't in the same boat I was though. I was the first in my family to go to college. After my long road, I just wanted my degree and could've cared less about the ceremony. My grandfather on the other hand, that man was beaming. I really feel for 1st generation grads that can't give their family that.

If you play it, they will win.

Congrats on that paper. Long read, but seems very much worth it in the end.

I have two little sisters graduating in Spring 2020. Hate it for everyone missing out on walking across the stage to get their degree.

Graduating this year with a Bachelors degree in Neuroscience! Hate not being able to go to graduation in Lane, but so grateful for four amazing years and pumped to be a HOKIE FOR LIFE. LETS GOOOOO

P.S. and grateful for 26 games in Lane and 47 games in Cassell over the last 4 years, EVEN the losses (except for 45-10 to Duke.....i mean, what in the world was that...)

My degree is in finance and economics. Planning on pursuing a MBA. I hope I don't have to start that online.

If you do, it isn't terrible. I will finish my program in December (it is a 2 year program). I did engineering undergrad, and I honestly think that the type of material really matters when taking an online course. Most of the things they go over in MBA school aren't conceptually difficult, which makes online a little easier- it's just the amount of work.

I see. Thanks for the info. That eases my concern a little bit. Marshall has mostly followed the lead of other schools so far when it comes to online vs. in person and other important decisions, but the fall is less clear cut, so we'll see.

I'm currently pursuing my MBA part time and the switch to online hasn't been without it's faults but that's more just how I learn and being someone that needs a separation between work/school and home. I would also reiterate what is said above... It's more the amount of work with cases, papers, and exams more than it's the concepts that will take the majority of your focus. Especially with your background. I'm jealous as someone with a Biochemistry degree and only taking micro and macroeconomics while in college. Been starting one step behind from my peers in my cohort but it's really engaging to be learning things that are so foreign/new to my day-to-day in the lab. Feel free to reach out if you want a resource going through it

Congrats y'all. How's the job market treating you? Do you have anything lined up yet?

It's not great as far as internships go. Part of why I'm going straight to grad school.

Not currently looking but there are hiring freezes for most local government positions.

I have something lined up, but my start date is currently TBD based on when they can get back to the office.
