The Rangers didn't look good against the Isles and are looking pretty bad out of the gate against Carolina. This game is a bloodbath so far. As a Rangers fan, I'm terrified that we're not going to pull it together, since we can't string two passes together and skill guys are going out of their way to hit instead of play their game properly.

As a rangers fan myself - their defensive end is near impossible to watch. Looks like little kids soccer everyone puck watching and chasing. Quinn needs to figure that end out quickly.

First fight of the playoffs is 43 year old Justin Williams who gives Ryan Strome a bloody nose. I love hockey so much.

Get Angry, Bud!

I don't think I've ever seen so many penalties called in a postseason game. These refs are going to have the strongest arms in the world after this game and no saliva at all.

Dream finals for me would be Caps defeating the Avalanche (I took the Avs to win the West last time I was in Vegas at 4-1)

Go Canes. Nice win in the first game, hope we tighten the clamp on Monday. Our PK and PP look very very good right now. Trochek and Vatanen appear to be excellent deadline additions. Hope we get Dougie back, we'll be crazy deep on defense.

Overtime alert! These 5 vs 12 seed matchups are looking pesky

Winnipeg might be in trouble depending on how serious the injury to Schiefele is. I only caught the replays of it, but that didn't look good.

Can any Pens fans offer insight on Jack Johnson? It seems every goal that is scored while he's on the ice is hyperanalyzed to find a way it was his fault. He was on the ice for two of the Habs' three goals yesterday. The first one he checked a guy who had the puck basically attached to his body, and the puck fell into the net. Then on the OT winner, Johnson was left and went to the corner towards the puck only for Schultz to run down there as well from his right position, and Johnson is being ridiculed for it.

He played awful last season and the fans are upset with his play and huge salary. He's played okay this season but not up to his salary. I don't blame him for everything bad that happens but I'm pretty sure he blew the coverage in that 2007 VT vs bc game too

West Virginian by birth, Hokie by choice

Yeah, that was wild. That's about as heartbreaking as it gets if you're the Blues.

I was at the game where the previous record (0.2 seconds left) was set. I never thought I would see it broken.

Pretty cool.

Proud author of one plaid comment.

Svechnikov Hat Trick and the Canes absolutely bury the Rangers in Game 2. First postseason Hat Trick in Canes franchise history as well, and he's only 20 years old.

Rangers are not the same team as before the break. Just sloppy, rusty, and rudderless. Sad times for me.

My only comment is to say that I would not want to face the Flyers right now.

I have seen plenty of comments (from sports media in general) that the Bruins didn't bring any intensity in the game yesterday. Thats all well and good, but the game still mattered potentially for seeding. If the hottest team in hockey gets the 1 in the East, along with reseeding for the actual playoffs, I will take my chances. Flyers win the next 2 games they get that seed

Caps looking pretty underwhelming with no Carlson in the lineup tbh

Bummer Caps. But hey, hockey's back!

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

The Caps looked like they had spent quarantine like they did the summer of 2018 during the first period. They were much better in the second, but their only two goals were kind of junk goals. Vasilevsky was unreal, so hopefully that's the best they face. I'm hoping we can get anything but the 4th seed to avoid the Pens in the first round. I'm not sure I can deal with that kind of stress immediately.

You seem to be giving the Pens the pass already. Montreal isn't going quietly into that good night.

Without Carey Price, Montreal is down 2-0. I don't think a tendie can carry a 12th seed team past what the Pens have. I do hope I'm wrong though!

Canes looked pretty darn good making quick work of the Rangers in that series. The Svechnikov-Aho-Teravainen line looks downright scary right now and both Mrazek and Reimer played excellent in net.

And now we should be getting Hamilton back for the next round.

Svechnikov and Aho were unbelieveable. I really wanted the Rangers to make an RFA offer for Aho because there was buzz that the Canes may not match (their owner isn't great.) Turbo was just along for the ride for the most part.

The Rangers desperately need a legitimate number two center. Chytil is a wing.

dundon stinks

Wait? Why the hate on Dundon? He bought the team only two years ago and has poured a good bit of money into it, not only with the team but also the new practice facility and upgrades to PNC through whatever agreement they have with the stadium. Not to mention the Stadium Series (hopefully) coming to town in 2021. The contract thing with Waddell was strange, but that is all I have that might be a negative?

As for the offer sheet by anyone, the Canes were going to pay whatever it took to keep Aho. They actually got an amazing deal thanks to Montreal.

I do not like the Rangers, never have, never will

Yeah, I actively root against them just so the Caps don't have to lose to them in seven games in the playoffs for a fourth time in my life time.

Looks like the Canes are peaking at the perfect time again. The Caps will likely either get them or the Pens, and I think I want the Pens.

The Caps have either 6 or 7 penaltys so far and we're just past halfway through this game. The discipline is non-existent

Did the Caps...switch places with a pee wee hockey team during the break? They look worse than bad.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

They look awful no chemistry and giving penalties away for fun. They may not make it out of the first round here.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

It's shocking how far the Caps have fallen off. They went from a team making cross ice passes with precision to not being able to drop it back to a defenseman at the blue line. The power play is horrific. They can't generate shots. They commit dumb penalty after dumb penalty. The defense constantly gets lost and gives up open shots. I'm genuinely concerned that they'll get swept in the first round by whoever they play and just blow the roster up. Letting Trotz walk was genuinely the stupidest thing that I think I've seen a Washington sports team do, and yes, stupider than anything the football team has done.

Yeah, the football team is already in a bad place and just piles on every bad decision with another bad decision. The Capitals had just won the Stanley Cup and let their coach walk.

I'd say it was dumb but lets not forget Trotz didnt seem to want to stay either. It sucked but currently this team looks lazy and lost.

Even though Igor is the better goalie right now, I was sad to see Lundqvist go out with a whimper instead of a bang. Lundqvist's first start for the Rangers was during Marcus Vick's starter run. It has been one hell of a run.

Let's hope they can stumble into Alexis Lafreniere or Quinton Byfield

The uncertainty around Hank has me very uneasy. Igor is obviously the future and more than likely the now, although I'm guessing he will struggle a bit in the upcoming season with an expected sophomore slump. Hank has been the franchise since 2004. The losses we had were not on him, Game 1 was a mess all around, and game 2 he gave up 2 that he should have had, but you can't expect to win games 1-0.

I'm so thankful that we got to have Hank for the duration of his career, but I almost wish he went to a franchise that wasn't doomed to failure. 2012 run ended by rivals in the ECF, 2014 ended by a freight train in the finals, 2015 the big what if, what if Zucc didn't take the McD slapshot off of his head. We were humming and that injury might've been the final nail in the coffin for Hank's cup potential.

Will we trade/buyout/keep Hank? Will he retire? Either way, there is 1 year left on his deal, a flat cap, and $6M in dead Shattenkirk cap this season. There are so many weird things with the franchise right now, I just hope whatever happens they treat Hank right. He is the KING of NY. An absolute legend, and an all-time great and I will likely shed a tear when he is gone, just like when we traded Zucc.

It's the NCAA Bball tournament trap. I love it...except the fact that Pitt now has 1/8 chance of 1 OA.

The juices were flowing for me just watching some competitive hockey, even though a lot of talking heads were making some excuses for teams in the Round Robin.

Can't wait for the "real" playoff games if you will.

As a Flyer diehard, I thought the way they were playing at the end of the normal season they had a shot at the Cup. Now I think they have been given every chance to get it. 1 Seed, reseeding after each round, getting a ton out of their depth lines, and a coach that actually knows what he is doing.

They out scored the Bruins/Lightening/Caps 11-3, even with going 0-11 on the PP and their marquee players not having a single goal. Those will have to change of course to make a run, but I feel better trusting that guys like Giroux and Voracek will start to score than having to hope 3rd/4th line guys will be able to contribute anything. I don't think Carter Hart is going to have stars in his eyes when the games get real intense.

If Caps don't clean up their play between the blue lines, they are going to lose to the Islanders. Very very sloppy. Not having John Carlson potentially isn't helping.

On a more serious note, Anne Frank's drum set is more useful than their PP... too predictable trying to get it to OV all the time. I wish Kuznetsov would shoot more vs always trying to make the pretty damn pass... Tries to be way too cute sometimes.

Canes-Bruins, huh?

Not trying to offend you, I understand the two city allegiance (mom's family is from around Philly) genuinely curious.

Canes and Flyers meet in the Eastern Conference Finals, who are you pulling for?

Yes,that's the Hokie Bird riding a camel. Why'd you ask?

Canes because they are the local team and also because I am a season ticket holder so that would be a decent ROI, even though fans can't attend.

Don't get me wrong, it would be cool to see the Flyers win it, but it would almost be a shame for their first Cup in 45 years to be with no fans in attendance and no parade afterwards. That city would normally go nuthouse for a Cup.

Either way, both teams are going to be at the top of the East for a while. Both are stacked with young talent that is already performing at a high level. And it looks like there's going to be a fanchise goalie for Carolina at 13 overall in the draft (thanks, Leafs) which realistically should push Carolina over the top within the next 5 years.

Jackets Lightning rematch... As a CBJ fan, i am not sure that i am ready for this (they are going to play pissed). However, we are undefeated in the playoffs against teams that wear blue and white. Also undefeated if we start the series in a city that starts with a T.

Hello fellow CBJ fan. Please please repeat of last year.

Thanks Carolina.

We actually won something!

Laughing with Laf, a New York Rangers story.

I needed that after the pain of last week. 1OA is a nice salve for that wound. Not Pittsburgh was priority 1. Us winning was just the cherry on top.

Just happy that it's not Toronto because now we still have a 1st rounder this year. And relatively high, too.

I wouldn't mind giving you all the 31st pick.
