OT- VT Honor Court allows accused rapist back on campus?

http://www.collegiatetimes.com/news/rapists-should-be-expelled/article_53c50696-1dbf-11e9-9727-7beb00b3cd94.html

I saw this linked on Facebook from someone who didn't go to VT. This is a terrible look for the school, the Honor Court, and the legal system in general. I haven't researched this at all, And I'm not looking to start an argument, just posted as an FYI.

"This is a terrible look for the school"---but you didn't post to make an argument (on something you admitted you didn't research)?

My comment was more referring to the fact that a non-VT person shared this article online, which is where I saw it.

I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them!

Not that it changes any of facts here, but this article is from a year and a half ago.

Correct, but the victim re-posted/shared it because the accused's 4 semester suspension is now over and he's back on campus.

I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them!

Alright thanks for the FYI.

In this country, you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Yes, I realize this is not a court of law, but if all that has happened so far is the allegation, then no, the accused should not be expelled. As the father of a young daughter, rapists should be more than just expelled. Jail is tame. Personally, I think they should get their balls cut off or allow the person who was raped to use a literal nut cracker on them. But because someone accuses someone else of doing something terrible does not mean they did anything. See Duke rape case and the UVa fiasco ... and I can dig out lots more if you want.

Let the case run its course in full. The things that the person was required to do seem pretty weak, so my bet is her case and accusations were pretty weak. Was there are DNA test from a rape kit? Putting a restraining order on him so he cannot come in contact with the accuser is fine. And if he breaks that, then expel him without any need for a court of law. But - as we have seen before - we should not ruin a person's life without evidence and reasonable "trial" in either a court of law or at school.
