I interpret Joe's tweet to be more along the lines of it we keep kicking ass, a ranking will take care of itself.
5. Virginia Tech That's one way to end East Carolina's six-game win streak against the ACC. The Hokies stomped on the Pirates early and often in a 54-17 win, and man, that Justin Fuente offense sure looks fun, doesn't it?
They said our offense looks fun.
THEY SAID OUR OFFENSE LOOKS FUN!!!!!!!

Buyout dropped something like $10 million when Miles was the head coach at the first whistle this season. Very much a Mike London situation, where money overrode any displeasure with the coach.
Also expecting his first child.
I'm pretty sure it's not a John Daly if it doesn't have horse tranquilizers in it.
A shot of vodka and a shot of rum goes great in an Arnold Palmer. Just saying.
But if any school does, it will be in the SEC.
But what's not an outlier is a new coach at a P5 program making more in his first year than his predecessor did in his last year. That's pretty standard these days.
There is something deeply ingrained in our fan base to believe that we really aren't good enough. How many times did we hear in Beamer's final years that we'd better enjoy whatever success we got, because we'd never do that well under whoever took Frank's place. How many times have we heard we'll never bring elite recruits to a place like Blacksburg, as if we were outer Siberia. It drives me crazy.
Preach, brother.
Our fan base needs to learn to be a little less
about coaches leaving us.
Fuente makes more than Frank.
It's just kind of a thing with coaching changes at major programs.
People downvoting opinions they disagree with. SMH.
What is this, Reddit?
Desperation is sinking in after only four games.
I hope we drop 70 in South Bend and are the final nail in Kelly's coffin.
We lost our one game because of fumbles. We have since fixed the fumbling issue.
The game has changed. By my estimation, there's only one thing left to do...

Five...four...three...two...one...
Hard to tell, since you started your disagreement with an appeal to authority.
In 20 years - I bet we will be playing at Lane Stadium - Beamer FIeld. (If we don't have a new stadium - If so, Beamer Stadium)
Perhaps. And that will be the natural transition, identifying Beamer as part of our history and legacy, not as the identity of our current play. Think Bear Bryant at Alabama. They honor his memory without identifying the team that plays under Saban with the Bear.
"BeamerBall" is here to stay for a long while.
Yes. That's why I picked 20 years. That wasn't an arbitrary number. Once we have a student body that was not alive when Beamer last coached a game, he'll be a historical figure to them, not a beloved coach. They won't call running back a kick or blocking a punt "Beamerball," because they won't have any frame of reference. It's not a disrespect thing. It's just the way that the present transitions to become history.
I actually knew a handful of people who were unhappy with the Fuente hire and wanted Herman because Houston beat Memphis last season. I don't think the average fan fully grasps what goes into making a coaching hire for a P5 program.
We won't be calling it BeamerBall in 20 years, guaranteed.
Bro, do you even science?
Under the old regime, three 3-and-outs to open a game had me reaching for the Pepto. Now, I just assume Fuente and Cornelson haven't found the crease yet.
For years we've seen our defense give up a long scoring drive to open the game, then Foster figures out what the other side is doing, adjusts, and it's on lockdown the rest of the game. Now our offense does that same thing in reverse.
So if they're really serious about it, here's what needs to happen. A national review board is set up to review all potential non-called targeting in all games. (Coaches can submit a play they think their player got targeted.) If the review board finds targeting, the guilty player will be suspended for the first half of the next game. In addition, the officiating crew responsible for the non-called will be reprimanded. Enough reprimands will result in discipline or dismissal.
This, of course, will swing the pendulum too far the other way, with anything approximating targeting drawing a flag. But if the NCAA is really serious about eliminating helmet to helmet contact, that's the way to do it.
I thought that second touchdown looked odd when I watched it, but I never went back to research. So I guess one blown coverage, one missed tackle.
Eh, he was trying to score. If you were just running to get time off the clock, he'd have run backwards.
No judgement. I respect the hate. After 11 years you guys had a lot of angst to get out. I'd imagine if UVA ever managed to get their football program's head out of its own ass enough to ever beat us, they'd pile on as much as they could.
Solid comeback. You guys just need to learn to play with the same intensity from start to finish.

Sounds like you're muddling two different arguments here. Are you saying LSU won't offer a G5 coach more than what Miles was making, or that Herman won't accept what LSU offers? On the first point, I think you're probably wrong. On the second, you might very well be right. People forget that Tilman Fertitta, Houston's chairman of the board of regents, has a net worth of $2.7 billion. And he's just one of the billionaires with ties to the program. This is Houston, after all. That school is drenched in money from the oil tycoons. LSU is going after the coach of the one G5 school they can't outbid. If UH is all in on Herman, and I think they are, they'll match any offer LSU makes. If Herman leaves, it won't be for a larger paycheck.
