High school games in our area are being played Thursday/Friday/Saturday sometimes mainly due to lack of officials. I know some guys who will work 3 games a week.
Georgia tech should be on a Thursday night
I really thought with NIL coaching salaries world take a hit as players make the plays, not that coaching isnt important but almost 100x the value of compensation is insane. But with the transfer portal coaches are now WAY more important because they bring the players with them.
Excellent. Miami is the only game near us and not having to pull the kids out of school to take them is solid.
Well aware of the brand we built (and let collapse) with the Thursday night games... Friday nights I dont recall being a thing until well after I graduated, and I only ever remember a real odd Wednesday night MACtion style game we play 20ish years ago (can't recall if it was against Pitt or WVU, but I remember the hangover).
Not done yet but one of the best vacations ive had. Staying in Waiokola. Stayed at awesome beaches, eaten great poke + bbq + fish, had a lot of mai tais, watched every stage of a Kilauea eruption, helicopter tour, jumped out of a plane, green sand beach, Hilo, water falls, black sand beaches, been to every cardinal direction "ern" most part of the island.
The only thing I haven't pulled the trigger on is the manta snorkel just seems so commercialized and frankly I'm ready to relax. Two nights left maybe I'll change my mind. Beach and a whole day of exploring Kona awaiting my flight is all I've got on the schedule now.
relationships get you in the door, money gets them in the door
Some daughters play. Our rival high school had a female linebacker, and was like 2nd team all-district or something. That was also 1997 so our little backwoods county schools were way ahead of times you could say.
It certainly helps to also put the money where the mouth is
Franklin really has me believing that relationships and the transformational over transactional dynamic in college sports is still very much alive. It's one thing to hire a staff that says it's all about relationships, it's another to hire one that absolutely eats sleeps and breathes it. You can listen to James Franklin talk for 10 minutes and get fired up. Now paying attention to him closely, you can tell he is a truly dynamic personality and leader. Think we hit the home run here.
Not even a baseball fan, fantastic call.
Hokies has clinched a top 8 seed in the acc tournament. They will be getting a first round bye
SOUND UP....
A walk-off win you have to see to believe. @HokiesBaseball won their fourth consecutive @ACCBaseball series with this signature victory at English Field.Go #InsideTheBooth with @EvanKHughes for the call. pic.twitter.com/EZrTosRVRB— Virginia Tech Sports Network (@HokiesAudio) May 15, 2026
That dude is cooked. Speeding is his least worry.
The felony charges are for purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana, and sale of a schedule I or II controlled substance.
Yep thats exactly how I saw it. Here is your SECN lineup
Chattanooga at Alabama
Tennessee Tech at Mississippi State
Samford at Auburn
Wofford at Ole Miss
UGA losing 2-0 to College of Charleston in the 5th
Wahoos losing 3-0 to Indiana in the 1st
LSU run ruled Akron 8-0
It's funny what you remember sometimes. After 40 short term is gone, but the random stuff from ages ago I know spot on. I think part of it also is trying to forget VT football the last 10 years my brain has decided to block everything lol
I would be more interested in what the composite average would be as that is you true indicator of how good the class is.
I don't actually have kids, but I love telling Dad jokes.
It makes for a bit of a faux pa
I was also going to add that SECN needs fodder for that weekend, but then I realized that we're talking about the weekend before Thanksgiving when half the SEC schedules their cupcakes, so there's Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State all sitting there with games against lower level competition.
Arch being like top 3 in Heisman odds would give a lean toward texas yes, but the ryan silverfield angle is a 'push' at worst for us imo because we have the same story with Coach Franklin. Also Miami's new QB is a Heisman dark horse. so that could also be a 'push'
Ark should be better than they were last year, but it's the SEC still. Of their 10 games before Texas, they have Georgia, Auburn, Tamu, and Utah. other games are 3 toss ups and what should be a Lock win as well. but if we're looking at a 2-8 or 3-7 arkansas going up against Texas as opposed to a VT that has a winning record and what should be an elite Miami team, and it's a nationally relevant rivalry historically, I could see Espn picking our game vs miami
If Arch Manning is in the Heisman conversation Texas will be enough.
Also Ryan Silverfield is now head coach at Arkansas and signed a really solid class plus portal went well so expect them to be much better.
Henson lost a stall match 2-1
Zain basically ran away the entire match and got rewarded for it.
Henson got put on a really questionable shot clock in 2nd period because he hadn't scored because Zain kept dancing away.
Looking at the 247 class calculator, adding in the top remaining players who are "warm" to us to get us to a class of 20 gives us a class score of 249.79.
In 2026, that would be 15th nationally, 2nd in the ACC (Miami)
2025, that would be 16th, 2nd (Miami)
2024, that would be 17th, 4th
2023, 17th, 3rd.

When everyone can pay, the things that matter are how much (and what) they offer, who they are, and who you work with.
