Not saying he would be my guy, but just floating it out there that he is sounding like he is ready to get back into coaching. Now - is a guy that was fired for going 5-5 and 6-6 in the two years after winning the natty the right guy to ground up rebuild a program? I don't know.

I don't remember the exact circumstances of his firing, but I recall it was more than just the on-field performance ...too much baggage there?

Nearly a decade? So, like, right after they lost the Ed O'bannon case?

The NCAA has been doing something that is obviously illegal in this country, and arguably unethical for decades now.

I mean, it literally got to a point where schools had so much money that they didn't know what to do with it. Schools were putting lazy, rivers and waterfalls inside of locker rooms. Rebuilding meeting rooms every five years. Taking private helicopters to visit recruits. All of this in an effort to dazzle recruits without giving them cash.

In an effort to win football games, NCAA schools accepted athletes who would've never been admitted to the school on their academic ability, and then hired an army of tutors to help them pass classes by any means necessary.

It never rains in Tiger Stadium took place in 1976 I think? NCAA versus OU board of regents was in 1984? Spurrier was calling to pay players in the 90s.

Sure, Things have accelerated recently, and the underbelly of the sport is now impossible to hide. But the NCAA chose to stay on the "amateur student athlete" path over and over and over again for 40 years now.

There was ZERO effort made to change the status quo until they started getting sued.

Finally, just remember who the NCAA is: it's not Mark Emerert, it's not Charlie Baker, it's the hundreds of school presidents who represent universities comprised of students, alumni, professors, and fans. It's the president of Ohio State, the president of Alabama, the president of Miami, the president of Virginia Tech, etc. those supposed "leaders" could have fought for change at any time, but they didn't because they were either enjoying the spoils of their riches, or they were too stupid and detached from reality.

Not sure about other sports but Baseball hired a General Manager this summer and believe both basketball teams now have a GM.

Not sure the general tasks differences between these and what would be expected for Football. It is a much more complicated position that requires a significant difference in experience than the hires in our other sports. Baseball's GM only has a couple years experience at ECU post-graduation.

Hopefully the pitchers exceed their rankings AND stick around. Can't afford to develop a guy for a year or two only to lose him to the Wake Forest pitching lab.

Isn't this life in the portal era? Even USCe with SEC money can't afford to have 2 quality QB's on the roster. No one who's worth it will go to just sit behind a locked-in starter.

I thought he would be a surefire starter as well. All the best to him.

I had the misfortune of being at the game Saturday, and I stayed a lot longer than was necessary, so I will add on his behalf that he continued to show good body language, trying to congratulate teammates on made plays, etc. well into the second half.

I immediately pictured Blake Clark's character, Farmer Fran, from The Waterboy. Would need to hire someone to translate as he hit the recruiting trail this fall/winter.

Pass, the wind sprints was such a try-hard, performative loser move.
