I agree. Mullen is honestly top on my list right now, barring some other unforeseen candidate with significant P4 winning experience surfacing. I think UF fans probably feel stupid for running him out of town. Napier has been significantly worse at everything since arriving there.
- I'm going to think that Dan Mullen to VT is a huge success regardless of who the QB is.
- I think Dan Mullen could turn Drones into a top 30 QB.
- I think there's only 5-15 good college QBs in any given year, and after that all that matters is the scheme and the talent around them
Colandrea would get intercepted on his flight back east so I don't think we'd have to worry about him making it here.
What would give you a better chance at a conf championship and a favorable playoff seed, going through Oh St, Mich, and Penn St or FSU, Clemson, and Miami?
In five years, we may be relegated to mid-major status, Indiana is assured a seat at the adult table.
Also, Indiana is not exactly fertile recruiting grounds and the school is basketball first.
Look at the number of NFL players from VA post-Beamer. VA isn't exactly a fertile recruiting ground anymore.

Game on Paper summary. Three factors:
- Big drop off with the QB change: When Sellers left the score was 7-14 and SCar was driving. When you look at the comparison between Sellers (4.87 EPA) and the back up (-6.65 EPA), it becomes clear what the issue was.
- Vandy was scoring quick
- they had 3x as many explosive plays. Just look at the drives in the second half
- Vandy scored on 3 of their last 6 drives for an average of 5 plays on each scoring drive
- Of the 3 drives Vandy didn't score on, one was a 10 play drive with a pic, and the other the two were in the final 4 minutes (ie; just to kill time)
- SCar turned the ball over like crazy:
- Three turnovers in Q4 - leading to 10 vandy points
- Two turnovers on downs
- One missed FG
- Zero punts
I am not. Unless 50% of the team quits we are going to tan Woffords hides. I imagine somebody has already told Drones if you quit you have to repay your NIL funds.

Starscream meltdown was most memorable to me.
Prior to Sellers going out it was 7-7 and TOP was about 1 minute in Vandy favor.
From mid 2 Qtr, Vandy had an almost 10 minute TOP advantage. SCar possessions after Sellers went out ended in Missed 53 yard FG, Punt, Turnover on Downs, Turnover on Downs, Fumble, Interception. Vandy had an average starting field position of the SCar 48 yard line for those. Short field, gassed defense because their offense couldn't get anything done.

I think "consultant" role is exactly the right characterization here. I don't think Whit wanted to spend much time actually operating a new structure going forward, and the decision on that structure was always going to be made well above him. Pry's failure forced everyone to play their hand now but ultimately the big calls on the structure of the athletic department in the professional era were going to come from the BOV with input from Babcock and a recommendation from Sands.
Maybe Whit doesn't have to show up for that meeting now, but it was never gonna be his bus to drive anyway.
I think this is the correct assumption of the situation. Whit knows what we have done before and who we have talked to. Provide information to know if we should spend time trying to kick the tires on someone.
I just don't think this is true anymore. Tech is a top 20 public university. We're ranked ahead of Penn St, of UConn, Pitt and Michigan St. (to pick some big names with much better football than us.) I guess that could change with time but that ranking has continued climbing while our football has declined. The research budget is $450 million for FY2024. Point is, I think we're actually much closer to being Cal Tech than we are having an Alabama style athletics department.
That's not to say that we didn't get a kick in the pants from the Vick era teams. I'm just not sure that it helping us once means it's a requirement to continue to be a very good, nationally relevant, university.
Not only that but to think we have a bad QB situation here...South Carolina's 2nd string QB is Luke Dotty who came in in 2020 as a QB but has since played WR. They have no one behind Sellers other than true freshman.
Might be why SC only put up 7. I don't know how much it had to do with Vandy putting up 31, though.

Side note regarding #5: I moved into a new place this summer. Bought this doormat. And, to my surprise, a mystery person left this response on my door about a week later. I was bummed that it was anonymous. I thought I was about to meet a cool neighbor.
