Killz 2 is great but if you have serious stain/color to cover up you need to step up to Killz Original Red Can. Warning it is oil based so open a lot of windows unless you want to be high as a kite/pass out. And yes it is still a primer and can be top coated with latex or oil based. Don't let some moron at the big box store tell you not to use it because its "oil based." It absolutely is but it absolutely is a primer still. The "don't put latex over oil based paint" is leftover from the old days when most already installed paint was oil based especially high sheen. You cant coat anything on high sheen unless you prep it right first. Primer is flat.
We were camping near Yellowstone, sleeping in the truck, many, many moons ago. I woke and had to pee. I got up and was headed to the restroom in the dark and saw something move right in front of me. I almost, like honestly coulda reached out and touched that buff. There were several of them filtering through the campground I realized as my eyes adjusted and the moon came out. Slipped back to the truck and relieved myself by the nearest tree. Never without a jug again until I got a real camper.

I feel like On3 is kind of clickbait outlet. I'm sure the original report from Extra Points has more substance and context.
If Tech's recruiting doesn't improve significantly it will get difficult to even maintain their current level of mediocrity. Money is a big factor however the quality of the staff doing the recruitment also needs review.
The results so far are not good.

For what it's worth HE said Coach Key went to admin and asked that they rethink their admissions requirements for athletes when hired so GT could field a competitive team.
AND he got some big time alumni donors on board to pony up for players.....

It's a possibility for sure. I don't see it at all, but it's definitely possible. I think this loss looking back will be a "wtf how did we lose that one".
Either way even if they are good, they aren't hold us to 9 points good. Even with the drops and mistakes and if they are a good defense we should've scored at least a touchdown on top of what we got.
It's a bad result, could be an outlier, but I'm taking note in case a trend develops and not throwing this data point out

Is this what they paid players? Is this the salaries of recruiting staff? Is this how much the school spent having coaches travel around? Some combination of above? How accurate is this? Does it take into account NIL Collective spending?
I call BS on the Oregon number. Nike spends more than that on the Oregon football team in a month.
As noted above there are quite a few big schools not on here. Is that because they dont publish data?

Whether you think this relies almost entirely on the scheme fit of the QB. There are countless examples of QB's who looked awesome in one scheme and terrible in others, Grayson McCall at Coastal is a great example, awesome in Chadwell's system, terrible in the others.
Drones is perfectly suited to be a one-read style QB, along the lines of Jerod Evans. (If you saw Evans in a multi read pro-style system I guarantee you would say he was terrible.) Bottom line is it's on the coordinator to run the system that's best suited for the QB and talent that's available
Yeah sums up a lot of my feelings. I like Pry, he's very personable and fits right in with VT culture (starting to think that might not necessarily be a good thing), and he seems like he truly loves the school and wants the program to succeed. But I think it's really bearing out now that he's not a very strong football coach. I think his defenses had the benefit of a lot of top end talent that Franklin and his ace recruiting staff were bringing in at PSU. He himself was never known as much of a recruiter. And although I liked his approach of coming in and rebuilding relationships in VA, doubling down on the Beamer family approach to VT football, that just really doesn't resonate anymore in the modern landscape of college football. It's a business - top recruits are interested in what they can get paid, how they can develop for the NFL, how they can compete for national titles. We don't really offer much of that currently at VT when we're focused on being folksy and family feeling.
Really have been rooting for him but I just struggle to see how this works out to be honest. I think we need a true seismic shakeup.
To use an analogy, when Fu came onboard, if the program was a house, things were getting a bit dated and the foundation had started crumbling. But we thought we could slap a new coat of paint and put down some new vinyl flooring and keep on rolling. But the cracks continued to show.
With Pry, instead of overhauling, we just doubled down on the nostalgia and convinced ourselves that nothing was wrong with the old house to begin with. Now we have water in our crawlspace and bats roosting in our attic. The whole thing needs to be gutted IMO.

I'm a pretty firm believer that you've got a pretty good idea what you've got in a coach after he's been in the same job for 3 full seasons. I would be completely done on Pry were it not for his staff changes. I think that bought him a year. But there were still big ugly appearances of poor management and lack of attention to detail in the first game, which is, I think, a bellwether that he hasn't fixed the major issues that have plagued his HC career. I'm very skeptical that these hires will be enough to save his job. Siefkes looks brilliant early on. So did Marve, though. The first game that he had "play calling duties" was a pretty good one. I'm not sold on Monty but, again, it's only been one game. I think there is a better-than-good chance we finish OOC play with a 2-2 record, which is right on par with what I've come to expect from Pry. If he beats Vandy, ODU, and Wofford I'll feel more encouraged going into ACC play. I guess if I had to describe my perspective at this moment in time I'd say I'm cynically skeptical but not completely out on Pry. Not yet.

Just say that NIL has made your job (as a college football coach) a lot harder (it has). I'm sympathetic to that. Lobby congress for an antitrust exemption. Talk about how we need collective bargaining so we can agree to contracts. Talk about the need for centralized authority.
But if you're going to say that the kids don't need money (because they have 'warmth' 🙄), conveniently omit that you're in the top 0.01% of income earners, and want your conference to continue to operate without any oversight... dawg, get fucked.

I am in agreement. This matters a ton for perception, but not for season goals of winning an ACC Championship, hence the dig at the 'ol Beamer comment alluding to OOC games as preseason.
I don't think there's anything wrong with holding this position. I think I would fall a little bit further toward a possibility that Pry can be the guy, but I don't think this take is off-base at all. I am giving him this season to show me something that he failed to prior. He earned that right for me by firing both coordinators. Monty is a win now hire, and I like the Siefkes hire so far as taking a chance on someone on the cutting edge. Early returns are solid on Siefkes.
hey had a Wisconsin high school recruit doing a commercial for IronJock underwear (they're a Wisconsin based company). He was spouting off about he was a 5-star recruit, and how many P5 offers he had. It's really discouraging where this is heading.
This shit is direct evidence that the problem is the adults around this kid. High school kids don't go out looking for advertising opportunities.
fair enough. These are valid points. If it was game 2, or even season 2, with Monty I'd be completely on board. But it was his first game for VT. There were some positives even though the offense failed to produce touchdowns. If that trend continues then, yeah, I'm right there with you. But it's been one game. Beamer once said that the greatest improvement you ever see in a team is from game one to game two. If this offense manages 30 against Vandy I think we cool the takes on Monty. If it's another slugfest in which we only score fieldgoals, then I'm not against raising alarms.
I will say, though, that I don't know how much of it is the actual coach. I'm of the (admittedly very silly) belief that Blacksburg is just not meant to have good offense. Nobody can seem to make offense work here. The only good offenses we've had were propped up on the shoulders of supremely talented players. And, frankly, at this moment we just don't have that type of talent so it seems completely unreasonable to me to expect our offense to be anything better than bottom 1/3.
...I mean, just about every game is "can't" lose for Pry (in quotes, of course)
That said, of the next 3, Vandy is the most losable. The pain of starting 0-2 just isn't quite the same as the pain of losing to either ODU or Wofford. If VT and SCAR both win their next 3 games, that loss to them in the opener is more forgivable. Going 2-2 is pretty much exactly what everyone expected. Pry has thus far been a perennially .500 coach so .500 out of conference fits. He has 0 non-con P4 wins as a head coach so losing those two non-con games to SEC teams is exactly on par for him. I don't think Pry is at risk of losing his job with a loss to Vandy. However, if he loses to one or both of ODU and Wofford, then I think that is the last nail in the coffin.
Being completely frank here, I like Pry a lot but I just don't see him being a successful head coach here, or anywhere, really. His teams consistently shoot themselves in the foot with lack of focus and poor attention to detail. Winning coaches don't allow that. Especially in year 4. He just doesn't have it. I have accepted this. I will continue to watch VT football until he no longer coaches for us and I'm resigned to the fact that we're just going to be a bad team that makes back-breaking, costly mistakes week in and week out under him. It's a shame. I've seen enough in the 3 seasons he's been here to know that we're extremely unlikely to ever win more than 7 games with him at HC.
