We also lost our recruiting department which meant all the players to scout and everything was just not in a place Fuente's team could find so they were late in talking with the kids which can be seen as insulting. But not having Bud to back you up hurts too. Fuente was rebounding once we hired more recruiters but 34th just ain't cutting it.

His rankings in H.S. seemed to assume that he would grow more...possibly why we shouldn't be giving 15 year-olds "stars"..but that's another conversation.
My guess is he lands at a decent G5...maybe comes back up to P5 if he plays really well there, he's probably got 6 or so years of eligibility left to figure things out.

The ultimate sign of loyalty is your boss giving your ass a job. You would quit in a heartbeat and leave him 2 weeks to find a replacement for 5K more a year and make no apologies. But in your case, your co-workers wouldn't equate your employment terms with your bosses and nor would they pretend it was a crime if he chooses to leave on his own accord, but you can't do the same- when in fact you can anyway. I've never read an article related to bosses leaving but employees being questioned about loyalty anywhere in my life. Only on CFB blogs are the 2 jobs the same and have the same rules- else hypocrisy. lol
If your boss is asking for loyalty, but displays none themselves, then that's hypocritical. It doesn't matter that the two hold different positions
Both Brent Pry and Justin Fuente are below average recruiters if your expectation is to finish 4th or better in the ACC, much less anywhere nationally. In order to do that, signing a 4 star player isn't a miracle. At VT, it currently is and parades are thrown and if the kid is a 4 star from ViRginIA, he's the next Mike Vick/Cornell Brown- regardless. THAT is how far recruiting has fallen.
In what other job/profession anywhere in the world do we pretend two entirely different jobs/roles are the exact same? I can't think of one. Does Tim Cook has the same job as a UI developer? nope. Does Whit have the same job as a low level athletics graohics person? nope. Do you have the same job as your boss? No. Only in the baller complex are player and coach the same job- only there. Who gives a fuck if coaches leave due to signed buyouts by their employer? and how in the fuck does that relate to the job of "football player". tell me any legitimate reason Pry has the same job and rules as our punter... go ahead?
I believe Nico was wrong here, but I also find it ridiculous that coaches are attacking his loyalty, even head coaches that were under contract at a school and left for another giving a bigger paycheck...so doing the same thing they are criticizing Nico for.
Fuente was a decent recruiter when Foster and Wiles were on staff - Recruiting drops off for the 2020 class, which is the first class without Foster & co.
My belief/interpretation of this is that Foster and Wiles had so much equity with high school coaches that they could get VT into almost any kid's top 5-10. Fuente couldn't really close the deal, but Foster/Wiles had enough equity to keep VT in the top 30.
Foster/Wiles leave, and the bottom falls out. Not only can Fuente & Co not close, but they can't convert at the top of the funnel either. This leads to them abandoning the recruit-the-state strategy, which leads them to fall even further into the hole, which leads to more losing, which leads to them eventually getting fired.
If he goes to UNC, he's taking a pay cut. They are using a lot of creative accounting to get to $20m in 'rev share'
New norm in a league without rules. Waiting to see new NIL deals with incentives for performance and playoffs in mind. Basically "base" NIL contract with escalators.

Conferences are meaningless now anyway. there are 16 teams in the SEC and 18 in the ACC. Not enough round robin to mean anything. Look at 80% of the SEC hoops getting into the dance. Regular season was meaningless
Glad I went with the fitting I did the guy was straight forward didn't try to sell me on anything. My numbers with my current club weren't drastically improved by any combination he came up with said money would be better spent on lessons to nail down consistency. Didn't end up charging me for the fitting at all.
Good thing I didn't blindly buy the Ping driver I wanted. Absolutely hated it during the fitting. Titlest GT3 was the driver that came closest to my numbers but I struggled to get a good launch angle. Cobra Darkspeed was awesome probably the best feeling club but I got really hooky with it. Qi35 was the straightest but I couldn't get it to go anywhere.
