Multiple people should have been banned from every having anything to do with children, education, and sent to prison, but it wasn't really an NCAA issue. We can agree to disagree.
However in the last 20 years, we had at least two programs running fake departments to keep players eligible or directly paying players. Both Miami and UNC far deserved the death penalty.
What would the NCAA (lol) do to Boise? after a 3 year investigation into Jeanty playing for Penn State the second half? let them self impose a bowl ban for the potato bowl?
No, Penn State needs to lose because they are Penn State. That's all the explanation that is needed.
The format isn't broken, there is no reason to fix it.
Let this continue playing out. Let schools get used to this format. Let it breathe so we can settle in.
But no, we will see only one SEC team in the final four and declare it a national emergency that requires immediate attention so that it never happens again.

Penn State Football is the most important thing in thousands of peoples lives... over church/family/job. If that wasn't the case, there would have been some measure of backlash from them harboring a pedophile ring for years. But nah, they quickly went back to selling 100K seats every game, major bowl games, 5 star recruits, etc.

Fuck them forever for prioritizing their football pride over child rape. If any program ever deserved the death penalty, it's Penn State.
We know that perhaps as early as next year and certainly for 2026, the top 4 teams will get byes whether they are conference champs or not. That change is coming. What is also coming is whatever the committee can do to further tip the scales to the B1G and SEC, they will in fact do.
Maybe this will force a change in the host format moving forward. With every home team winning in the first round, and every team with a bye and being the listed home team losing, it's pretty clear that there's a lot to be said about NOT playing these games at a neutral site. Getting a bye after already having 3 weeks off looks completely irrelevant after the results for this round.

Your last point is what I take issue with. If you have to make up things and argue hypotheticals- whether you are trading in your car or trading ND a top tier home for their olympic sports and stealing one of your conferences top bowls- if hypotheticals are what you use to sell the deal, its a shitty deal for you. Period. If the car dealer tells you ... well if you go down the street you are really going to get a shitty deal perhaps... yeah he got the better end of it. Bottom line is the ACC is on life support and the bowl agreement is worse than ever. ND did nothing meaningful for the ACC.
Meh, do what Frank Beamer always did... any even remotely questionable fake punt/punt situation, he simply left the regular defense out there and put one guy back to field the punt. Kirby should have just left his base defense out there - ESPECIALLY if he thought they were stupid enough to actually snap it on 4th down. You want your base defense in there anyway. Especially when they are all 4 and 5 star NFL prospects.
