I wonder if the ACC leadership will actually do something when they realize that falling behind in football will make the conference way less competitive in basketball too? Probably not, it's easier to collect a check and deny that things are as bad as they are.
Portal/NIL/pay-for-play was last straw
+1 for Shenandoah Valley and the air fried oysters. I have not tried air frying them but now I might. As long as they're edible
In fairness, Jim Boeheim, Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Larranaga and Roy Williams are 80, 77, 75 and 74 respectively.

Yeah, it'll do a lot of things and most very well. My biggest problem with it is that our kitchen doesn't have a lot of available counter space for another appliance so it's just not as handy as I'd like for just quickly heating something up and that limits my experimenting a bit. I'll say this about the oysters, though. If I were cooking for company, I'd fry them in a big kettle of peanut oil I'd just cooked a big batch of wings in for an extra flavoring. Bigger mess, no difference in prep, but I know I'd like them better.

Rough half decade for acc hoops.
The Texas to Virginia pipeline is becoming a thing! We're up to 2 QBs and 2 DBs now.
Moved up from FCS Houston Christian just last year and was the Bearkats most productive DB with 57 tackles and 12 PBUs. Not sure how legit Sports Illustrated is anymore, but they report the following:
Pro Football Focus gave him a 77.4 grade in 881 snaps, including an elite 91.0 tackling grade.

# | CBS: Duke is paying QB Darian Mensah $8m to transfer from Tulane I've mentioned it before, but I know some people who work in this space as well. There is absolutely ZERO incentive to leak or report any of these numbers honestly. Absolutely none. Every single recruit, school, trainer, NIL marketing agency, family member, etc. leaking any sort of number is doing so to provide themselves some sort of market leverage, advantage or free marketing.
I'm sure the NIL could be structured at playing requirements. Remember, the person/company is supposed to be getting value from paying. And paying for the name, image, and likeness doesn't really give any value if the player doesn't play. There is some risk that freshmen won't live up to expectations, or play much as freshmen, but ultimately, a company won't want to pay for someone who isn't going to play because people wouldn't want to buy a jersey with that kid's name on it, or have the kids picture in an ad.
You would say, if you are a starter, you will start all games unless held out by injury, including all post-season games your university is eligible for.
Except NIL aren't contracts that can even hint at playing requirements. Only way I could see it working is if you specified a specific amount of NIL to be paid for bowl game media appearances but that still might not make them play. They could travel to the bowl, meet the media and still decide not to play. It would also only be an addendum to their base NIL agreement since bowls aren't a guarantee.
A better option is on renewing any bowl agreements, force the bowls to commit to an NIL pot as a set aside amount to be distributed to the teams. That way it doesn't even have to come from the schools. Still not sure how you break that up though. Also not sure it would be enough to motivate the players to play.

And last week it was on full display just how involved ESPN is with this downfall. Every single game was rife with complaints about how unwatchable the playoffs were, how certain schools were more deserving of the teams taking part in the competition we were watching. They didn't get their way so they damn well made sure that everyone they pay a salary to threw a tantrum to make everything as miserable as possible for the viewer as a warning to never disappoint them again.
Quite frankly, all it did was push me further toward never watching again. And its already bad enough having a 60 minute discourse about the playoff and a discussion about teams that aren't even playing when I'm watching a VT game, I don't want that when I'm watching the actual playoff, too.
There is not one damn thing about the whole NIL deal is funny. It's a tragic self inflicted and possibly fatal wound to the beloved and enjoyable (sorta) institution of college sports,
While I'd love to say they were great, and my wife thought they were, I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed. Still and all, better than the mess of deep frying, and they cooked in 8 minutes per batch which was nice. I will admit that I'm still learning the air fryer and while some things are no brainers (like frozen sweet potato waffle fries), and unbreaded shrimp are very good as well, some things fall a bit short of the idea of sparing the evils of deep frying with little trade off.
The oysters were super fresh and local, and turned out very crispy, a big plus for me, but could have been a bit overbreaded. I'll try them again another day. Big plus in the clean up department for sure. My air fryer basket can be washed and put away in two or three minutes with no dirty oil to dispose of.
