# | Pry "hopeful" that coaching staff will remain intact this winter I hope we put more money towards the OL and DL. If someone comes in with a big offer for Drones, then they can have him. We can spend significantly less on Pop, grab a cheap backup similar to Schlee, and hopefully spend more on the trenches.

Yea, That's the question I was begging.
There will be no changes at all. Book it. Pry is going to sell Whit on how we were just a few plays away, and sell the hope of Pop for next year. And Whit will go along with every bit of it.

Yeah the problem is we paid Drones and the WR's the most (other than I assume Tuten) and we didn't get our money's worth from them. Money would have been better split between OL and DL.
Given Miami, FSU, and Clemson, it seems surprising that not a single 5-star came to the conference. I mean, Norvell WAS 13-2 just two years ago, so I guess that's what dropping to 2-10 does. Considering he fired both coordinators from the 13-2 season, maybe they were the recruiters?
Also, hard to imagine since Miami was at #4 in recruiting rankings last year. They're at 14 with 15 four star players, so that's not bad.
Hard to believe GT is at 18. Reiterates the unfulfilled potential post...
And FSU and Clemson at 25 and 26, down from 12 and 11 last year.
If OKSt really thinks they are going to do significantly better than Gundy, more power to them.
This year was a disaster, sure, but he has fielded consistently solid teams in a region where he is totally dwarfed in terms of resources and cache by most of his regional competitors.
He has hired a multitude of assistants that have been picked up and advanced in the coaching world.
Honestly, he has exactly the type of resume of someone who could be successful in Blacksburg.
This is a total pipedream, but if OkSt really does part with him, VT Admin should fire Pry that night and scrape every donor dollar together they could find to make Gundy an offer.
Seems like his 8th year QB would be ripe for the taking... go get him Pry. A lot of experience.

# | VT, UVa, UNC and NC State fined and reprimanded by the ACC for weekend fights I think this is a result of the fact players do not stay or play at a program longer than a year or 2. It's hard to gauge improvement when the sample sizes are so small. I can't immediately recall the last QB that actually played more than 1.5 to 2 consecutive seasons for us, was it Logan Thomas?

This is kinds of a silly argument. Scheme doesn't matters, talent does. If Bud Foster's scheme had Clemson's talent, VT would have multiple national championships. I don't care about the exceptions, I care about the rule. And the rule is, superior talent trumps any scheme.
You'd think after some of the stuff that has happened, Miami would be a school that has a thumb on their scale.
Update on OkST. Could get interesting with Gundy, doesn't seem like the type to take this without putting up a fight.

This is the most logical take on this. Pro task master, his way or the highway guy who can cut players the night before a super bowl if he wants trying to navigate the NIL world and recruiting not only HS players but his own every year. On face value, I don't see it. OTOH, there is not a better football coach alive in terms of X and O's, game management, etc. He won 7 super bowls as a head coach- he knows how to coach football and prepare his team. I think his sell would be - come play for me, I know how and what it takes to get you to the NFL. And on defense you will learn from the best that ever did it. That could sway some kids for sure. And with even a serviceable roster, nobody in the history of the game is better than taking away what you do best - so if you are a running team, you are going to have to pass to beat Bellichick... I think he would win for sure.
I agree. Belichick has (since 1975 according to wiki) been associated with professional football where grown men are paid to do their job. He is ill suited (imo) to having to deal with recruiting and the transfer portal with the associated ass kissing and lying that entails. Well he may be ok (again imo) at the lying part but will be terrible at the ass kissing part.
What does how/how much a school paye a coach have to do with his coaching ability?
I get what he was saying. My point stands that if he wasn't going to be bringing a certain level of readership, and paying ones at that, I don't think he would have been brought onboard.
Maybe he wouldn't get as many if he was solo, who knows, but I'd be curious what people would have said if he'd surveyed his X followers.
And I love the content put out by TKP, but do we know that TKP paying membership would equate to what Any would get?
