Miller is now subject of a federal investigation

Federal authorities are investigating whether former Temple men's basketball player Hysier Miller bet on his own games and manipulated the outcome of Owls games he played in, according to sources with direct knowledge of the situation.

we all hope he's wrong. Unfortunately, I think we all also know he's probably right. I'd be SHOCKED if we finish 6-6 or better and Marve is fired. In fact, I'd be pretty surprised if Marve is fired even if we lose out.

That said, I'm in complete agreement. I hope he's fired regardless. Defense has been a big problem for us for all 3 years he's been here and it hasn't improved at all. This season was a massive disappointment and the biggest culprits are completely bungled end-of-half management choices and the failure to get a stop when we really need one. Pry can't really fire himself so he's left with firing Marve. I don't have a lot of faith that he'll do that but we'll see. I'll be encouraged if he does. If he doesn't, I'm writing off next season as a painfully dismal one.

5 years ago if I couldn't watch a game because of some event I couldn't get out of I just wasn't present. Half my mind was always on the game. Now, though. If I'm going to miss the game because I'm having dinner with friends, I don't care.

This is so real.

Even during Buzz's first season when we really sucked I watched every game. Now half the time I don't even know when we're playing

Yeah I agree we've been bad under Young. He's definitely a top 50-60 coach in CBB, but I'm not sure he's top 40.

He recruits very well but they can't seem to develop guards or wings that aren't spot up shooters. Our best year came when Tyrese Radford and Mutts would drive the lane consistently, that combined with the 3 point threat, and Chester Frazier as our defensive coordinator made us damn good team. After Frazier left our defense has been shit. Mutts regressed later in his career as MY had him sitting beyond the arc shooting threes and he never again attacked the rim with the same intensity as his first year. Even Sean Pedulla was much better (at helping the team win) his freshman year when he was relying on pure basketball instinct rather than MY's coaching.

Bottom line is our best season has come playing a style of ball MY wouldn't usually play, with players he wouldn't choose to recruit and once he has got his guys in he can't retain the good ones AND more importantly any player that's not a pure shooter or athletic big playing the 5 has REGRESSED after being 'developed' by Mike Young

yeah, he's for real in a tricky spot - it might depend a bit on what happens with the coaching staff in the off-season. I don't expect Pry to make any major changes but if he does, I would expect it to be Marve. If he surprises everyone and lets Bowen go, then maybe we see a mass exodus on the offensive side, including Drones.

The Drones injury has me wondering about next season. Originally, it seemed like he would use this year to build his draft stock and jump to the league. Now that seems very unlikely. Does he come back in 2025? Does he transfer?

With a young receiving corp next year, coming back does not seem like it is in his best interest. I'm not to sure what the market would be for him if he opts to transfer, though.

I used to care so much. I would go out of my way to watch VT sports and get really emotionally invested. If we lost it would tank my weekend and bleed into Monday. Wins would put a little extra pep in my step for the rest of the week. I really enjoyed watching other games, too. Especially knowing we had won already. Nowadays, I hardly make time for VT. Our schedule doesn't revolve around the football games as much as it once did because, frankly, it just hasn't been fun to watch for over a decade. Even some wins left me feeling a bit down. This year's GT game comes to mind. I've never felt more like we lost a game after a 2 score win. Like, yeah, it was great to win but my goodness was it hard to watch. And not fun, at all. The upside of all of it is that I'm so much less emotionally invested that when we do lose it doesn't ruin my weekend. And I can actually truly enjoy my time out doing whatever it is I'm doing while I'm missing a game. 5 years ago if I couldn't watch a game because of some event I couldn't get out of I just wasn't present. Half my mind was always on the game. Now, though. If I'm going to miss the game because I'm having dinner with friends, I don't care. I'll enjoy my time with friends and not even give the game a thought until I get home. That's nice.

amen. I've been pissed twice all season... the 2 number thing at Vandy, and the zero defense in the 4th Q against cuse. Other than that, meh.. I knew we weren't beating Clemson and Miami. In terms of hoops- I know we aren't a tourney team, and that's 85% of what I care about- gambling and watching March madness- most of the time that means no Hokies.

One bright note - our rapid decline has likely led to an improvement in my blood pressure because I am completely apathetic when it comes to VT sports at this point.

I didn't even realize we were playing last night, might watch a quarter of the Duke game Saturday, might not. Gone from die-hard to don't give a fuck in a matter of a few years.
