I had the exact opposite experience. I was pretty dickish going in. Started a "Let's Go! Hokies!" chant on the way in the gate because a big group of Hokies had a smaller group of BSU fans kind of surrounded as we moved toward the gates, so we were all basically shouting right at them. I guess in the grand scheme of things, starting a cheer isn't that dickish, but I was doing it to be loud and intimidating. So at least somewhat dickish.
After the game, we tore into what was left of our tailgating cooler (for those at the game, you know the lots did not open nearly early enough to provide for a full tailgate). There were some Boise State fans who walked past us, obviously trying to just get to their cars. I yelled after them and they turned back, obviously gearing up for a confrontation, and I said, "I hope you guys win the whole fucking thing now."
Offered them a beer and hung out while the ungodly traffic cleared out. I mean, they straight up outplayed us. I didn't see any reason to be salty about that to their fans.

Made the mistake of buying a ticket in the visitors section when Miami came to Blacksburg. PD was escorting Virginia Tech fans out of the section for their own safety. My friend and I stayed in the seats we purchased and recieved many threats from Miami fans. With all the neck tattoos it felt like a prison yard.
Their whiskey is shit, be warned. Picked some up at the ABC store about a month ago... And it's real tough to drink. They keep a piece of wood in the bottle because they kind of have to to give it flavor.
In the end nothing's going to be done. Even if there existed undisputable proof that that was the case, what do you honestly expect to be done? A hand slap. A verbal lashing. Perhaps a meager unpaid suspension. But that's it. No real, actual change.
I think by showing up to the game you're already accomplishing that
Top of the Hill is the most frat-tastic bar in Chapel Hill. I think they actually have a distillery now so it might be worth checking out.
A little bit of a hike from the stadium if you're only walking, but down at the west end of Franklin street right beside Cat's Cradle (one of my favorite music venues) there's a Hampton Inn (I think?). It's got a nice restaurant/bar right underneath it, a parking deck, and there's always Cat's Cradle for evening entertainment.
Plus you can mosey your way down Franklin Street after the game and check out some of the local places.
There are bad calls, there are missed calls, and then there was Clemson-Louisville. It really looked like the ref's were being paid to ignore things. How did they not do anything against Boulware when he CHOKED Jackson!!!
At least it's down at Texas A&M. I wasn't too fond of the idea of Gameday being at Bristol and then Knoxville within two weeks.

Here is last year's coverage map when the ECU game was the reverse mirror. The opposite game was Western Michigan at #1 Ohio State. Obviously, this had no bearing on this year, but it might give an idea of a safe area for our game. As in, the ABC stations that aired VT last year will likely be getting it again this year. However, since our game this year is higher profile, and the opposite game is lower profile, we could get a lot more coverage.
...Aaaand UT gets GameDay for the 3rd time this year next week....
I haven't had any problems with Carolina fans at their stadium, and Keenan is actually pretty nice. They do have a more traditionally wine-and-cheese crowd but they also have a huge working-class following. Duke, however, is pretty much the opposite of all that.
Good news is that at both stadiums there will be a large Hokie following. So do what was mentioned above and go find some Hokies to sit with unless you're either already in a large group or you have better tickets.
The corners of the stadium, especially on the visitors side, are going to be more likely to have away fans: 100-102, 110-112, and the 200 levels of those sections. Judging by this thread, we'll be everywhere though.

What I find surprising is the (and this is neither a jab nor an insult) number of members on this community (and beyond) that are actually, really shocked that a number of games are called unfairly. As a Hokie, you'd think we should be well-versed and familiar with it. It happens ALL THE TIME. EVERY SEASON. Unless we literally have a way to change it, do you honestly believe anything is going to be done? No. You know. I know it. Everyone knows it. Can't do a damn thing except piss, moan and take it up the ass.

UCF is no slouch. They took Maryland to OT in College Park. Admittedly, Maryland isn't a P5 behemoth, but it's still a G5 giving a P5 all they can handle. Plus ECU had 5 turnovers against UCF. They only had one against us.
I'm not saying we're as good as we looked against ECU. I'm just saying it's probably better not to try to extrapolate anything about us from the outcome of UCF/ECU.

While I love Lane at night, 3:30 is probably the best all around time slot for actually attending the game. Sufficient tailgating time and the ability to make it home before midnight for most people in attendance.
Think to yourself "What would a Miami fan be doing on the road", then do the opposite of that
I choose to look at it as we will win at least 40% of the games that are at 40% or greater. So a solid chance for 6 more wins.
I think one thing to remember is to direct your anger/shit talking at the field, and never at the home fans
