I have known a lot of people who have day tripped for the Hokies games in Charlotte. For the ACCCG games, I have typically booked a hotel for after the game, but it isn't a bad drive if you absolutely needed to be back the next morning.

Is there any move to repeal that damn law yet?

Have spent several decades on rural property in Giles, lot to recommend it, but Floyd is way cooler in many ways. Any of those areas will give you access to property at an affordable rate. The New River makes Giles special, but again, the town of Floyd is pretty darned attractive from a diverse lifestyle perspective. Wythe and Bedford never made it on my radar, but I'm sure someone will tout them.

Unrelated, but if we're talking video games, I need some new Overwatch teammates on PS4 to get through this rainy, likely very hungover bye weekend inside my house. I'll gladly heal.

Mitchell is getting a lot of looks and several schools are expressing interest. He is taking every visit. Duke is letting him attend a basketball game during ACC play.

Another factoid is that Union H.S. is a consolidation of Appalachia and Powell Valley schools. PV is where Thomas (and Julius) Jones went.

Thomas Jones Sr. works at the same place where Mitchell's Dad works. I also work there but in a different capacity. See them both frequently, though.

We did the same thing against ECU though. We laid 24 on them in the second quarter. We're not as good as Houston but it feels good to be capable of dispatching teams like them.

I sure hope we can get him! I watched film on him and he has great vision and break away speed. He can get to the second level quick. He's definitely a smaller sized back but could have great potential in a spread offense, especially with his quickness and agility. I hope we continue to win games as it will probably have a great impact on winning him over.

Regardless of whether or not our recent success makes a difference with these recruits decisions, it feels great to be proud of our team when showing them off to possible prospects again.

Not that I wasn't a proud hokie fan when we lost but its great to be without that feeling of embarresment in your gut when reading about recruits visiting during miserable losses.

Lovin the hope for the future, and the future is now!!

I'm not sure about GT/Miami.

Miami is starting three true freshman LBs. That could be a very rough day vs the triple option even though they have otherwise played well. If they perform well it will say a lot more than if they struggle.

Gotta agree with most that Miami GT is pretty important. It's the canes first "test" but GT doesn't appear to be that great either so how much of a test is it really. I think da U wins that one fairly easily and the chants that they are back grows.....even though they still have not really played anyone. I think Richt was a great hire for them and he'll definitely have them competing but I don't know if this is that year.

UNC FSU is another intriguing game. It will be interesting to see how UNC plays that one. I can see it either being close or UNC getting steamrolled. I think UNC playing FSU while we have the bye sets up nice for us as I agree with others in that any outcome for UNC (unless they stomp FSU which I don't see happening) helps us.

UVA Duke should be fun to watch and Duke isn't as good as they have been in recent years and it's always fun to see UVA lose. I think Duke takes that one.

I'll also be interested to see how Pitt fares against Marshall. I think they'll win but how will it look.

Louisville Clemson should be fun as well and I think it's a win win for the conference as both are highly ranked. As long as either of them win out the conference will have a spot in the playoffs, especially if Louisville wins. If either of those teams loses the ACCCG I think the ACC won't be in the playoffs. Even if we win out I don't know if we'd be ranked high enough to get in with how Houston is playing. We'll see on that one though.
