You can come to my neighborhood and watch it. I live on the northern limit of the mangrove line on Florida's east coast.
As I illustrated earlier in the thread, the line isn't moving because the weather is warmer, it's moving because the lower extremes are less severe and less frequent.
And it isn't just the mangroves, there are now land crabs literally 100 feet from where I'm typing this, and snook are now breeding here as well. When I was in college in the 1970's the snook line was about 100 miles south of here. 20 years ago, you'd get the rare snook in this area. Now locals catch fingerlings in cast nets.
Any time there are changes in natural systems, there are ecological winners and losers. Mangroves and the species they support are winners. Cold dependent species are the losers.
The debate I hear really isn't about whether there is climate change, it about man's influence on that change, whether it will occur faster than natural systems can adapt to it, and what, if anything, should be done about it.
People denied that we could poison our rivers, use up our water supply, harvest species to extinction, cause cancer by polluting the air, etc. But man has succeeded at doing all of those things.
I understand the concern with policy changes that impact pocketbooks and lifestyles. I truly don't understand the denial associated with the science, other than it is a natural tendency (I do it) to deny something associated with an outcome we don't like.
There will always be Beamerball; but the Beamer era is over. This is the start of the Fuente era.

Combination of better than expected QB play and weaker teams in the schedule raises my expectations from 7-5 to 9-3. I had TN, UNC, Miami, Pitt and ND as losses at the beginning of the season. The only expected remaining loss I see is Miami. I think we split UNC and Pitt and win against ND.

I completely agree with the new energy in blacksburg! Should bode well for future commits. In state especially! I believe we will have top tier talent rolling in more as well!

[Greg] Hudson had joined the Irish defensive staff in June and has coordinator experience at Purdue from 2013 to 2015 during which they finished 95th, 83rd, and 111th nationally respectively, East Carolina from 2005 to 2010 during which they finished 82nd, 59th, 96th, 63rd, and 100th nationally respectively and Minnesota in 2004 when they finished 80th nationally, in addition to serving as assistant head coach and linebackers coach at Florida State.

# | Virginia Tech Rights the Ship Against East Carolina, Beats the Pirates 54-17 I offer this additional praise of the current staff (Fuente ?) - I can't find who said it, but earlier this year one of them said something along the lines of "we need to see more emotion from the special teams when we do something good". What the staff is selling, the team is buying. We are seeing more celebration as a team for good play. Stroman made reference to the same thing ("I talked to the (punt) return team and they were wanting me to get in there with it on. It really worked out.") and guys were putting their hands in up in celebration before he even crossed the goal line.

Agree here. Both BC and ECU dropped big plays. Probably wouldn't have mattered in those games but will be a diffetent story with other teams like UNC.

Fuente took a team with much less talent and got them in the top 25. I expected the same with VT, considering Fuente was inheriting NFL-caliber receivers, talented RBs, and an experienced O-line. The only question mark was Evans, but his JuCo highlights suggested he was going to be special.
I expect VT to be ranked between 16-25 when bowl season arises. Whether that's 1st or 2nd in the coastal, I'm not sure.

My guess is that the Miami players who have been inconsistent in the past who are now coached by a guy who was inconsistent at UGA with better talent will yield a wildly inconsistent team.
I did not notice any on TV.

In this case it was incomplete because when he bobbled it, he was on his back out of bounds.
If Notre Dame plays like they did against Duke when they play us, I will be wildly disappointed if we walk away from South Bend with a loss.
