No, they definitely were full on board the VT train the week after we won that game. It was when we proceeded to trip over our own shoes in losing to ECU and letting that cascade when the narrative changed to Ohio St just having a bad game.

That's how the media operates more often than not anyway. Even when VT beat Ohio State in 2014 the media narrative was more that Ohio State played poorly and beat themselves rather than giving VT credit. That opinion only became stronger as Ohio State went undefeated for the rest of the year and won the national title.

I feel like FSU and Alabama have poached top VA recruits far more often than Tennessee in recent years. That being said, in the 5-10 year ago range Justin Hunter and Jerod Mayo were excellent players for UT.

Unfortunately I think this is true. When UT showed poorly last week they took away your chance to shock the world. You'll still have a win in front of the biggest crowd on a national stage, but the narrative will be that you only beat a team that needed OT to beat App State

If I remember correctly, no one picked us but Kirk and Des reiterated that we would be a tough out and would make the game "closer than the experts think". In 2015 a couple heads picked us for sure (I certainly remember Mark May doing so).
