You are 100% correct about UT should have had no trouble with that game and most fans realize it. If you'll look at a lot of other threads on Volnation, you'll see that most fans are aware of that. I'm not on the same panic level as some of them are, but there are some questions that need to be answered Saturday, mainly o-line play.
I feel that the DB covering him was a really good athlete. That was part of Liberty's game plan, they said, we're going to stop the run, and hope that our athletic DB's can hang with Ford and Hodges in man. It didn't work out for them. That being said, I think Ford was going up against tougher one-on-one competition than most of our other players were that day.
It makes too much sense. The most famous football alumni of each program just retired in the past 10 months, and both were undeniable Hall of Fame talents and household names at their respective jobs. Biggest game ever deserves the biggest picking panel ever. Peyton because... well, Peyton. Beamer because... well, Beamer, but also on a more personal note with GameDay in that they openly admit they wouldn't be where they are now without Beamer realizing it was an opportunity to sell the VT brand in the early 2000s with their events. Overnight the show went from a fun thing to a Saturday morning staple in the fall.
I've got to believe Fuente has his reasons, either because he thinks it's better for the team, or better for Teller in the long term. This would include discipline for some error in judgment.
As much as I'd like to see Teller playing every down, I trust Fuente's judgment on this one.
All of that said, I sure hope they work this out so that Teller is on the field a majority of downs on Saturday.
That's what I've been hoping since both announced their retirements.
Lets make this a thing. We should get to hashtagging the week before the ECU game. #easterncarolina
Personal prediction: there will be 2... Peyton Manning and Frank Beamer
I would expect Peyton Manning and possibly Bruce Smith to make an appearance.
What results over the last two years has made the SEC look bad outside of this one bad first week? (where they played twice as many or more P5 teams than any other conference)
I think the perception can change but it will take time and more than one bad opening week where they go .500.
They still have 9 of the last 11 NC's and a winning record against every P5 conference since 2000, sooooooo.
I'm making no argument for UT here, we'll see how our teams compare this Saturday, but I don't place a lot of faith in early games or preseason rankings. We've seen world beaters fall off and scrubs steadily improve every year. Bout mid season things will start straightening themselves out.
wish the 100 meter got reported with splits, but just doing the simple math, someone running 100 meters in 10.7 seconds averages 3.91 seconds per 40 yards. Obviously the first 40 is slower than the last.
MRW I hear that. Also I immediately begin to discredit the announcer.
When do they typically announce/leak who the guest picker will be? There may be some material available there...
(Hunch it is Peyton Manning or Mike Vick, or both)
LET'S FUCKING GO!!!!

But another point is that nobody team, Ole Miss, beat the national champs, Alabama, the last two years.
Verified Virginia Tech Athletics account shared it, with a shout out to TKP:
I don't think that was Ingram late, I think it was Roy Upchurch. But yes, they pummeled us late
Butch Jones thinks there was too much cowbell
Unfortunately I don't.

So Murphy must be a 4.3 forty guy? Do we have a time on him?

Labor Day: It'll get after ya...

"I hate Neyland Stadium... It looks like a garbage truck worker convention."
I almost peed myself on that line.
