On a more serious note, these are the kinds of days where I miss my departed father. Even though he's been gone for years now, he's the first person I immediately want to call to talk to every time a great older comedian dies.

So this comment really makes little to no sense. The system is definitely not a free market. No one can even pretend it is. These guys are not really allowed to get what they are "really" worth simply because of the salary cap, let alone the slotted rookie salary scale.
