Staying at Thunder Mountain Campground (it's the campsite with Holston River Brewing actually inside of it). Me and some buddies stay there for the night race. Brewery is good (what we can remember) and they will likely have bands playing there Friday night as they did last August race weekend. Camping isn't the greatest, but compared to the other places around the track, it's pretty damn "cheap", $100 for the race, $150 for the game. They have bathhouses on site (for the love of Christ bring flipflops). Gonna try and get out there by Thursday. Plans: drink alcohol, grill meat, and mingle with other Tech fans and the UT fans.
ALSO: tent camping for me and the lady. They're out of RV spots I believe.
ALSO-ALSO: it's outside of turn 2 about a quarter mile walk down the road. Not a bad walk at all.
NC State is the closest natural rival in terms of school size, programs offered/engineering based, stadium size, geography, etc.
I'd say Pitt or Louisville. I think both of those teams are pretty even to where we are at the moment in terms of talent and on field results. While not being "great" teams like FSU or Clemson, they're at least competitive and have winning records year in and year out which is more than can be said for teams like Syracuse, BC, or Wake. The other one that I would say is UNC just because they're on the upswing and we seem to regularly be competing with them for a lot of our recruits.
I would take NC State.
Man, between reruns of Gilligan's Island and The Beverly Hillbillies, and some really boring fishing shows, I somehow managed to miss this one. Was it really like a big Hokie game? I will now duck, cover, and surrender the requisite turkey legs I stand to lose as I yawn. /s (sorta)
Pitt is probably the best fit for a fourth, as much as I hate to say it. Clem and FSU would be better for us but there is no actual rivalry there. UNC would take LOLUVA over us. Probably gotta go with Pitt.

Louisville. With that many rotating spots especially if the ACC goes 9 conference games VT would see Clemson and FSU etc a lot more anyway.
January 3, 2000: Sugar Bowl: VT vs FSU (National Championship) Just signed in off of Christmas leave and about to start Airborne school in FT Benning, GA. Watched in a bar.
November 1, 2003: Miami vs VT: Just back from the invasion of Iraq and was in FT Campbell, KY for a school you need to get promoted to E-5. Missed the game.
December 4, 2004: VT vs Miami: In mine and my roommates living room, packing for Christmas leave and a year long deployment to Iraq.
November 5, 2005: Miami vs VT: In Samarra, Iraq no AFN but we had internet that was slower than dial up. I attempted to follow by using the shitty play by play bar graph thingy that ESPN.com had. It would update every 20 mins which pissed me off then we got mortared which took out the generator.
September 8, 2007: VT vs LSU: Laying next to my 8 month pregnant girlfriend (now wife) at her house in Georgia.
November 26, 2011: VT vs LOLUVa (38-0, bro): Watching in my living room and packing for a 9 month deployment to Afghanistan.

Does anyone know how strictly they enforce the "one tent per campsite" policy? I assume once the lights go out they aren't going to walk around and kick people out if they have two tents instead of one. And what do they consider a tent? If I hook up a lean-to tarp to the back of my vehicle will that be considered a tent? What about a pop up canopy with a tarp around the sides? What about a tent inside of a tent? So many questions!
Yes, I believe too that Fuente's system will play to the strengths of Evans and Motley.
That's a good point about Lefty probably not preparing Motely enough. I understand how difficult a job it is to come in off the bench too. Motley had no chance against OSU and that is not his fault. And had Brewer not come back perhaps Motley would of shown some growth in the later games.
Got a 5 person RV...with 10 people confirmed to go.
Hoping that if someone sleeps in a sleeping bag on the roof of the RV, or 'falls asleep' in a chair just outside the door that they let that kind of thing go.
Going to an epic time. Arriving Friday night, leaving Sunday.

At least we have a new name for the offense - we now run the REAL PRETTY OFFENSE, and that's pretty great.

Our number of people interested keeps growing so we are going to end up with a giant amalgamation of RV's and tents. VT Footbal and NASCAR are some of our favorite things we do every year. Adding a mix between the both is something I cant wait to put my body through.
I thought we played too tight the entire game, had a lot of turnovers from rushing passes, and let their passing get us out of shape. We never really found or composure. It felt the team thought they needed to be perfect to win (and they probably did), but giving up the early goal blew any chance we had to build confidence and play our best. We brought one of our worst efforts against one of the best teams. It would be nice to rebound with a good performance and something to build confidence on.
