If it was a traffic stop for failing to yield when merging onto a highway (may or may not be related) that lead to the search, was that stupid?

Yes. If a routine traffic stop leads to an officer searching your vehicle, either you're driving under the influence, talking back to the officer, or have an illegal substance open in plane sight. I classify all as stupid, and one as dangerous to those around you.

I'm in the minority, but I hate Berman. I can't say exactly why, but he's definitely my least favorite ESPN personality. I'll take First Take with Skip/Stephan A over Sunday Countdown with Berman.

No. We don't know how the situation went down. If it was a traffic stop for failing to yield when merging onto a highway (may or may not be related) that lead to the search, was that stupid? We just don't know the situation.

But to be honest, I have a much longer, dangerously political answer of why I can't be disappointed. This isn't the venue for those opinions.

So a little off topic... A month or so ago, Clay Travis had Colin Cowherd on his podcast. Both Clay and Cowherd are personalities who are best in small doses. They also happen to be two individuals who have at some point left a larger organization in order to get more autonomy and daily independence. One thing they both agreed on - If you report unbiased news, there's really a cap to how much you can make. The best way to maximize your revenue is to create a persona and market it (case in point - Skip Bayless leaving ESPN is a bigger story than Mike Tirico).

So, bottom line, I'll rarely tune in to Skip Bayless, but you can't blame the guy for going out there and trying his best to get paid.

These scholarships are funded by donors...its somebody's money....you know the media always says that rich don't ever help those in need...well you know what to put it bluntly some of these football players couldnt afford to go to college and they are getting somebody's money even if they are putting their body on the line...I don't mind the suspensions...enough is enough..players need to be disciplined...I hope this gets the message across.

Regardless of the legal aspect they broke team rules. I don't care if Fuente had a rule that they couldn't eat Owens Cheesesteaks, if Adonis and Gaines broke that rule, Fuente and Co. Could punish them as they wish.

My class didn't know who was going to be drum major, because we were the first class in a long time to not have a single exec court case.

I was an RA for 1 year and HRA for 2. In my day there was a certain over zealousness in the RA culture. Some RA's were just assholes but most were strict rule followers. Not in the asshole sense, rather in the just doing my job sense. That is what we get taught. Keep to the rules and just follow the procedures and if there is anything write it up and pass it up to someone more senior. One fact that most people may not know is that VT has one of the largest undergraduate RA populations. (I believe that is still correct) And I think this empowerment leads them down the dark side of being overly strict or rule abiding, but generally good people. But consider the VT on-campus pop is like a small town and the only ones actively policing it are other undergrad kids, so having them follow the letter of the law is good for Res Life. It's a delicate balance.

I wrote up my fair share of JR's but it was really only when people were either being too stupid or I caught them with other RA's and needed to write them up. My RA's were sometimes overzealous and when I was reading what they wrote up, would sometimes just go talk to the students and tell them "not again, or at least not in my building" and the JR would go missing.

I also tried to get my staff to understand that college is as much for social interaction as it is education and learning limits is healthy. So if someone does something stupid use your best judgement as to if that stupidity was in good fun or overtly damaging. Drinking in the room versus throwing a vending machine in the pit.

I was also on duty as HRA for some more serious things including a few rapes and 2 suicide attempts. Seemed to happen on my days for some reason, which lead me into becoming a counselor and getting certified.

Overall, being an RA is a pretty easy job that comes with free room and a shitty salary. In fact, I always believed being an asshole just made your job harder because nobody likes an asshole and the students on your floor will just try to fuck with you. Why have that? Be cool and let the stupid shit go with a talk and a warning.

But the greatest perk was that I could write myself an excuse to pretty much any missed quiz or late assignment. Gotta know how to work the system to your advantage!

See a lot of comments regarding breaking the law and all of us being young and making mistakes. I agree for the most part that they did not violate the biggest law of the land, however they took a risk, got caught, and now they have to pay for it. Like someone said earlier about speeding, hes gonna do it again, and thats fine its not gonna be the end of the world, but he shouldnt get upset if he gets caught and gets a ticket either. Like someone who speeds, they took a calculated risk and in this case the odds turned out against their favor. Sucks to lose names weve been hearing so much good about tho lately. My hat is off to those hokies taking fewer calculated risks.

Wasn't a JR, but I once got exec courted by the corps because I went with the navy unit, on government orders, to do a required flight physical. And yet I never once got in trouble for showing up still drunk to morning formation (in fact I got promoted), organizing boxing matches in the basement, making hard cider in a closet, helping orchestrate a coup, rigging drum major tryouts, or the litany of other shenanigans I got into.

Start community service now with an organization of your choice.

It could be different with Fuente/whoever deals with this from the new football staff, but most athletes end up doing community service in Cassell or somewhere within the Athletic Department. Before Jarrell Eddie was warming the bench for the Wizards, he was painting handrails in Cassell.

Speaking of black VT gear, do any of y'all know where I could get
a T-shirt with the Boise State game pro combat graphics?
