Both schools are very much reaching their athletic goal. They want to be good at everything, and they are. Make no mistake, hiring Bronco was a big move that is meant to make them relevant in the ACC. They are already one of the top athletic programs in the country.

VT took the ACC membership and focused on football ahead of everything else, because it paid the bills. That worked. We then transitioned to one of the best AD's in the country and he clearly wants to improve basketball (both genders), reinvest in football and build up the rest of the athletic program.

Ask fans from both programs. As of right now, both fanbases are happy with where they are.

Not that surprising considering the complete overhaul South Carolina invested in their basketball program. Major overhaul completed in 2015 on the interior of Carolina Coliseum, to include all new office spaces, lockers rooms, weight room and upgraded practice facilities that are all located inside the Coliseum, combined with a brand new dormitory directly across the street from the Coliseum. Thats just the upgrades to the basketball facilities and doesnt include major investments in about another half dozen sports.

Couple all that with the fact that as the roster stands now, Holden will likely start at USCe as soon as he is eligible and competition wise, the SEC will allow him to shine a bit more than if he had come to the ACC where he would have been an equal to type player rather than the star of the show. Thats the only downside to how well Buzz does everything else. We have the talent that is equal to or better than Holden already on the roster. Hell, some of the talent transferring out might be better than Holden. Its a much better problem to have than we are used to.

It's even sort of misleading as it is... It's more of a probation than a suspension, but you have 0 chances to mess up while on that. They'll still be allowed to go to classes and such. Not sure how much football they'd play though, depends on suspension passed down by Fuente and co.

Blacksburg Police stopped me on the way back from a party and busted me for having a .03 BAC.

Point. Zero. Three.

The only JR I ever got was because I didn't manage to pull my flag off the wall in time for a random inspection... oh noes, flammable objects on the walls! (Because posters aren't... *eyeroll*)

Originally, I couldn't imagine a scenario where they aren't eventually playing football again for us. However, some of this stuff about how harshly VT handles this stuff is worrying me somewhat, but I don't think it's worth panicking.

I agree with that fully. But I could also argue that a better way not to get caught is to simply not have the drugs in your possession in the first place. As the video above so eloquently puts it "Stay off the weeeeee-duh!!"

I didn't suggest that "everyone does it", and I know that everyone didn't do it even back in the less restrictive mid-70's when I was on campus. But, it would be safe to assume that the vast majority of students did, and still do.

If the school wanted to suspend every student that participated in either, Lane Stadium would be a lot quieter on game days as the VT student section would resemble the crowd at UVA's 'Spring Festivus'.

Good points. And, I hope others do learn.

Unfortunately, I see it as a case of two inevitables. First, out of 100+ football players, there will be a fair amount that recreationally smoke marijuana and and eventually one or two will be caught. Second, an overreaching law and VT policy that punishes those caught in possession of marijuana.

I see one inevitable as fixable. The other inevitable, well, I just find it hard to ask 18-22 year olds to be perfect all the time. And, I just cannot bring myself to be disappointed with an 20 year old acting in fairly typical manner.

SHhhhhhh, hes optimistic, the offense is going to be the new Oregon.

Memphis put up 66 points against Tulsa jogging, we put up 55 and it was monumental...

...Except that the puppy was a dog. But the industry, my friends, that was a revolution...

VT FOOTBALL RULES!

Man, a lot of rough stories here. I lived in Pritchard, 4th floor, in 2003. My RA was awesome. He, to my knowledge, never wrote up anyone on our floor. Guy across the hall peed on his computer one night after a party and got nothing but a broke computer. We used run into the RA all the time at 2am when we got home and all he ever did was tell us to go to bed. We had someone who was 21 on the floor and he would get us beer all the time, RA basically said, "Don't let me see you do it" and everything was fine.

my freshman year ('03-'4) I lived in Thomas as a civilian. Almost all of us on the hall were freshmen. Our first RA got caught buying beer for a hall party. Dude was 19 and using a fake ID. It did not go well for him. Another RA (assistant RA maybe?) left because he was too much of a stickler for rules so his room was vandalized on a regular basis.
Someone let slip that Thomas was going to be renovated that summer so in addition to the normal weekend activities, everyone did their part to jump start the demolition. The last RA just shrugged it off. Only time I saw him give a JR was when one of the other freshmen got drunk and locked himself out of his room. The RA had a, well, lady friend over and the freshman had particularly bad timing. RA was so loud cussing him out it woke me up down the hall.

ah life in Thomas...
