The way Norman is holding out right now, I'd draft Fuller and not think twice if he's sitting there at 30, unless there's an absolute no brainer that fell. You do that and the defense is probably set for the long haul and you could then focus all energy on rounding out the offense, which only has small holes in specific places. But seriously, you draft Kendall and the secondary goes from a arguable weakness to a big strength with the addition of Fuller and Boykin.

Didn't say Gray was the ONLY Dean of DBU. But he did coach Kyle and Ken. The dean that preceded him was Lorenzo Ward (Vinny's coach). Foster may be the DC but he ain't the dean of DBU.

Yep. The days of Brew standing back there getting killed are over. Our Q's are gonna move around, as are our protections. Having lots of guys that can play meaningful reps is gonna be so important.

I'm all for a 2-deep - it fosters competition, and in cases like LB and QB, is very necessary. But, there are position groups like DL and WR where the notion of "starters" and "backups" becomes more fluid because of the constant rotation of fresh players. (One interesting sort of ceremonial thing that it does is allow the coaches to acknowledge the upperclassmen by starting them, even if they're being pushed for playing time by the young guys, because you know the whole group is gonna get a lot of run.)

I'm not saying that I want to see a platoon on the OL. Far from it. Continuity is key (play). And in the past few years we've had trouble finding 5 guys who could execute the scheme. But from the sounds of every teensy weensy little bit of info or video we've heard or seen, we have 9 or 10 guys who are seriously pushing for PT.

It might be the most encouraging development of spring ball.

I like that he pump fakes and accuracy, but is it just me or does he have odd footwork when he throws? He seems to be throwing off his back foot, and does a hop.

Great stuff French.

Very interesting to see Vinny Mihota lining up at DT again. Would not be surprised at all to see him toggle back&forth between end and tackle this season. Use Vinny on the end for some extra thump on early downs, and move him inside for some rotations on passing downs? He's big enough to hold a block, but quick enough to twist/stunt/etc.

And in no small part it's because Gaines has looked so good. I'm sure the coaches are trying to find ways to get him on the field - blitz packages etc.

Imagine being a QB coming to the line, 3rd & passing distance, and seeing Ekannibal, WoodyB, Vinny, and Housh, with Tremaine Edmunds lurking.

edit: Or Williams. Or Settle. Or Hill. Or Walker. Or Sobczak. Hot damn, I love our DL.

I shudder to think.

Stage 6: VT fans say that stars aren't important anyway and that we are better off with 2 or 3 star recruits (insert list of former 2 and 3 star recruits who turned out well)

I think this is more accurate for Stage 6.

even if suarez came to city i would still find him deplorable he is on another level of either costa or fellaini. Costa is bad yes I will agree but name any other player in the world that has bitten someone else on THREE separate occasions, or deliberately cheated in a world cup, or has taken more cheap shots on players that Luis Suarez has. That guy is really talented but is an absolute jerk on the field.

I'm not viewing it through how the media portrays him or anything else because i pay 0 attention to espnfc or goal.com or any english media. I watch the game and make judgement myself and the guy is a nutjob, and theres no painting around it or trying to make him seem like some sort of media creation. I dont understand how you can possibly defend or claim someone is vilifying Luis Suarez.

I'm not a Chelsea or Man U supporter but Suarez is hands down the worst of em

And Fellaini went unpunished for that deliberate elbow and he has had multiple issues in the past with deliberate elbows. Teams have the one annoying person that if they are on your team they are great, but if they are on the other team they are the worst thing ever. Diego Costa is another one; no denying he can score goals, but I can't stand him.

I know Suarez is a bit of a nut job, but he is also pretty interesting.

Huth (sp) was mugged on a play and the ref just watched.

Stage 1: highly rated recruit announces commit date
Stage 2: VT fans start looking for clues suggesting he'll commit to VT
Stage 3: Crystal balls come in 2-3 days before commit date for team other than VT; these are dismissed by VT fans because the experts just do this for attention
Stage 4: Evan Watkins predicts the recruit will pick Not VT an hour before he picks Not VT; reality sinks in for VT fans
Stage 5: Recruit picks Not VT
Stage 6: VT fans say he wasn't that great of a fit anyway and VT will just get (insert list of highly rated recruits at same position)
