thank you for saving me the trouble of typing it out. i hate MLS' shady behind the scenes operations as much as the next guy, but the DPs are paid for by the teams, not the league. The league can use league funds to help with transfer fees, but salaries are paid by the teams. DCU could go out and sign DPs if they wanted to, but they don't want to (yet...fingers are crossed for the future when they have revenue from the new stadium!)
A top flight US league can never be like a top European League. The US spans over 3000 miles and 4 time zones. The US has tens of cities that should have pro sports franchises in most sports including soccer. No European country has to deal with that. For all of MLS' flaws, i think they have done a decent job of incubating this league to ensure it doesn't fizzle out as many before it have. Soccer fans, like myself, have trouble getting our heads around split tables, unbalanced schedules and playoffs, but MLS has to be creative in ways leagues in Europe don't have to (and don't kid yourself, those Euro Leagues are looking at US sports for ways to increase excitement and $...see the Championship promotion Playoff and relegation playoffs in England and Germany respectively).
We complain about there being too many teams while simultaneously clamoring for markets like StL and Detroit and Miami to have teams. MLS is going to be a 30+ franchise league at some point. Could they consider splitting into their own MLS1 and MLS2 to have a self contained promotion/relegation structure while attempting to keep the top 18 or so teams in the MLS1 year to year? Maybe, but more likely you will continue to see a 34 game regular season with expanded playoffs to feature the top teams rather than an increased focus on the regular season.
That sounds about right... Having lived in eastern NC for a few years, NCSU fans (not all, but many) have a close resemblance to WVU fans.
Forgive me for the stereotype if it doesn't fit your experience.
I won't lie, I fully expect NIT. But I think it would be an awesome way to STICK IT to the haters (being the committee) if we sneaked into the dance.
Pitt was doubling him the whole way. There's no way he was getting the ball.
Most of my work when I was with 11th Engineers supported 3/7 INF. Seemed like we always were moving around with Alpha Company. By the time the airport happened they had moved me to the 92nd Engineers to teach demolition work in support of their construction efforts across theater so I had to see his name come up on the memorial board at Tallil Airbase. He went out the way he lived though, hard headed and tough as nails to the end. When they finally got him out of there they found something like 17 fragments or bullets between vest and helmet. He unfortunately gave all that day.
i don't know, he hurt his knee at Air Force (or Air Force prep, whatever that is), so maybe he was still recovering from that? Or did he play a year at JUCO in between?
If the kick was so great, why did they plaster "LAME" across the bottom of the screen, eh?
"Salary level is minorly effected by your current ownership group and more so by the MLS management level"
This isn't true at all. The reason some teams have vastly higher salary spend is due to designated players, which are at the discretion and paid by the individual MLS franchises. In terms of salary Corporate MLS spends just about the same amount on each team with some degree of variation due to Generation Adidas players and allocation money. The variation is not significant enough to account for the large disparity between the teams.
For example, DC United hasn't spent a lot of money on players because it is on the verge of spending over $100 million dollars (can't remember the exact amount coming out of their pockets, but I am pretty sure it is even higher than that), and its ownership group is not interested in amounting heavy losses. LA Galaxy on the other hand are out of their own pocket spending $4m dollars on Gio Dos Santos, $4m on Robbie Keane, and $6m on Gerrard (all approximately).
Also the reason that LA was able to get so many "stars" on their team is because of LAG management, location, and luck rather than anything underhand by MLS (http://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-galaxy-european-players-20160...).
This isn't to say Corporate MLS won't favor certain teams in the form of providing some financial assistance, but that is to help a team who is aggressively (i.e. spending a lot of money out of their own pocket) pursuing a player that Corporate MLS considers important for the league as a whole, but as far as I am aware the Dempsey transfer is the last that has occurred.
For all the most roster rules, MLS has documented them here: http://pressbox.mlssoccer.com/content/roster-rules-and-regulations
My understanding, though from a story by a bartender in Louisville (now thats a sauce), is that it WAS ACC policy, but that Louisville led the charge to get this changed, as papa John had spent millions to update their basketball and football facilities for beer sales right before their admission to the conference. This why we will have some beer sales in Lane next year. Not sure if true or when it takes affect, but I believe in the future tournament and championship vendors will be able to.
He just really had to go to the bathroom which is why he called off the dogs.

I feel like that guy may be related to Kenny Powers.

Missing dat #BeamerSWAG. Got da panda sads );
H/T Andy Bitter:
Mitchell will make $260,000 in 2016 and has a letter of appointment that runs through June 30, 2017, which is in line with all the other position coaches on the staff without additional titles. That's what Torrian Gray was set to make this year as well. Mitchell made $275,000 in his final year at West Virginia, which shows how eager he was to get out of Morgantown and an uncertain situation with head coach Dana Holgorsen's future.

Sounds like some couches might be getting burned in the near future.
It REALLY pisses me off that the rest of his bod will not cooperate and match the level of his talent and greatness.
As long as you don't say that Doris Burke is bae...you should be good
Flip girl for dude.
I'll add that the two games that Masha started at QB in '14 were wins against Coastal Carolina to win a share of the Conference title and the playoff autobid (Coastal was the #1/2 FCS team in country at the time depending on the poll) and JMU (#15 FCS) in the 1st round of the FCS playoffs.
As an LU alumni/fan I'm actually more worried about who will be taking over for John Lunsford, LU's kicker who did this to force overtime against Richmond as a Junior:
sure... just don't start confessing to tampering with peep holes at her hotel...that really sounds like a euphemism, but it's not. It could cost you millions plus time in jail.
I can't put my finger on why, but Doris Burke is very attractive to me.
Wait... I can say that here, right?
Suck it 'Cuse!
Right. What were we talking about again??
Does that mean they're selling alcohol or you're in a luxury suite with some random NC State fan?
You had me at 24oz!
It's Faux Newz and Fakebook, what more can be expected? At any rate I'm not gonna let any of these other haters affect me from being positively impacted by this. I choose to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative (in this instance).

Can we rename this thread? I do not see a single comment about a wide receiver unless you count TE's.
