I couldn't agree more with this statement, and quite frankly, it made me laugh out loud. Kanye West has slowly declined in the past couple of years. His cocky attitude and his "I don't care about anything but Kim Kardashian" personality really annoys me. Don't get me wrong, his old stuff is pretty good, but his new stuff is just absolutely awful, and the only reason I listen to it is because of the people featured in some of the songs.
I don't like Kanye in the least, but he has a right to be paid for his work. You should really consider paying for the album.
Watching a Kanye performance is like watching someone overcook a decent-quality steak. It might have been tolerable, or maybe even good, if he hadn't over-seasoned and burnt it. Oddly enough, though, there's a pretty big market for over-seasoned and burnt steak.
#Sauces - heard we're getting a TE graduate transfer student named Sergio Valente. /s
Hooker did it Mikey! Hooker did it!
Man, wish I could be there again to go to these games. In my four years at tech I never once went to a mens basketball game because there really was no reason to.
edit: Although I'm sure there were more fans there than at a UVA spring game. ZING!!!
The biggest difference between this team last year and this year is CLOSING. We couldn't close out almost any close games last year and this year, we're putting in that little extra to make it happen. Hokie Hoops is getting fun to watch again!
Wait, does bronco mendenhall also hate berman?
Post Pitt analysis:
#1. Bibbs and Clarke gotta score. The Hokies are 3-0 when Bibbs gets at least 18, and 4-0 when Clarke has at least 12.
False: Bibbs had 9, Clarke had 7.
#2 Allen needs points, but not too many. 0-3 when Allen goes for 25 or more.
True: Allen had 10
#3 Henry cannot be a scoring threat for us. 0-3 when Henry is in the top 4 Hokies scorers for the game.
True: Henry had 0
#4 Robinson cannot be our top scorer. 0-2 when he is number 1
True: J-Rob tied for 2nd with 10 points.
#5 Blackshear needs 13.
False: KJ had 2
#6 The #2 scorer cannot score fewer than 12. 0-6 in that scenario
False: The #2 & #3 scorers had 10 each.
#7 The #5 scorer needs 10. (4-0)
False: The #4 & #5 scorers tied for 7 points.
#8 The #3 scorer cannot have fewer the 8 points. (0-4)
True: The #3 scorer had 10 points.
Four and four. Sure glad Williams&Co held to that #9 trend
.
Also, no white guy who's been mentioned on twitter has ever been elected to the presidency.
The win wasn't miraculous in the slightest. The fact that we went into the break with the lead after being unable to put the ball in the basket for the better part of 20 minutes was a story, though. Maybe not miraculous, but pretty close considering we had 10 points through 12 minutes.
Sitting in Cassell last night watching us get down by 9 in the 1st half, it suddenly occurred to me that I didn't immediately think, Oh no, we're gonna get blown out! In fact, my emotional state was OK, we're gonna calm down and chip away and make this a game. I think I could see that the guys' confidence and thinking was the same. And voila, it turned out to be a very exciting game and the crowd was into it again. No where close to a full house but loud nonetheless. And when Devin confidently stepped up and made that 3, the decibels were off the chain.
No one can argue or analyze too much when you get the W. But we should have won by 20. We need to clear up a couple of areas; 1-make your free throws and 2-stay focused and cut down on empty possessions but overall I am very pleased with this year. A side note, I have been hard on D Wilson but last night he played solid. I wish he would do that every night because the team is better when he does.
Congrats guys, you continue to play strong and as a team. It makes Hokies Bball fun again. Seeing the Cassell fun with cheering students has to be rewarding to the players and Buzz. Thanks for exceeding expectations and keep it going! Have fun and rock Miami!
I thought for sure the place would be packed last night. I think it's time for free donuts and a standby line.
I don't listen to Kanye because he cannot work and play well with others.
I don't have time to tolerate that stuff and won't support it. There is too much other talent out there that I want to support.
I will preface this by saying excellent recap, Joey, and a great game. Keep up the good work.
But I do think 'miraculously' is too dramatic a word for what we saw last night, especially considering the recent performances in front of the home crowd and the hard work we've seen on display from game to game. Maybe we can float the word 'miracle' when we get to the Sweet 16...
...a deep three that miraculously sent the Hokies into the break clutching a 27-26 lead.
Unfortunately it'll be spring break for students. Maybe, juuuust maybe some will stick around for the game but I wouldn't hold my breath
Really hoping Faniel commits, if we get Hooker too, that's a hell of a pair
"I think when you have a breakthrough, you realize the battle only intensifies."
I'm just going to go ahead and get a tattoo of that.

And, if my memory serves me correctly, the crew tonight has been abysmal every time they've officiated one of our games. Dissapointing too, because I always liked Ayers in the past.
No doubt that Ultralight Beam is one of Kanye's best songs since MBDTF. Between the gospel choir, the vocals from The Dream, Donnie Trumpet, and Chance's verse, this is one of Kanye's most well rounded and most uplifting songs. Same with Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 and 2. The transition from the Metro Boomin tag to Cudi is heavenly. The transition from part 1 to 2 is seamless. However, I do think Pt. 1 is the better half, mostly due to the hook, although Kanye's verse on Pt. 2 is also a highlight of the album.
I enjoyed famous, however, the original version supposedly had the Nina Simone sample, that is heard at the end, instead of Rihanna on the hook. Apparently there was a version with Young Thug too. Luckily, for once, Swizz Beatz didn't ruin the song with his dumb adlibs or a verse.
I enjoyed the production on Feedback, but otherwise there's nothing there that exactly draws me back to the song.
The energy and production on Highlights is infectious and it's hard not to feel good after listening to it, although I'm not a huge fan of the Ray J line. The only thing that hurts my opinion of this song is the usage of a certain sound effect in the middle of the song that sounds like my alarm clock. I hear that enough trying to get up for my 8 AMs.
Like you said, Freestyle 4 is a banger. I Love Kanye, while not something I'm going to listen to on shuffle, I think it's fine in the context of the album. It's just Kanye being Kanye and I'm fine with that.
Waves is another track that I can't help but to feel happy after listening to. Glad Chance convinced Kanye to include it. I definitely think Chance gets writing credits for Kanye's second verse.
The mood of the next 3 tracks are a perfect closer to the album. FML is great and The Weeknd's hook is solid, as always. Real Friends probably Kanye's best lyrically on the album. Wolves, for the most part, lived up to my expectations, after waiting for a year for a CDQ version. Also, it originally had Vic Mensa, not Vince Staples. I agree that the Vic and Sia version was more enjoyable. Ideally, we will get a version with Vic, Sia, Frank Ocean, and Kanye's verse. After Kanye's tweet saying he was going to fix Wolves, I'm not sure what to expect. A full rearrangement with Vic and Sia? Or is he just fixing the weird moment around 1:25 where random drums come in and then fade out? Either way, it's a good track.
I think that starting at the Silver Surfer Intermission, it seems like Kanye tacked on bonus tracks, even though they aren't listed in that manner. Anyway, 30 Hours, I completely get the annoyance with the Last Call-esque outro to the song, but I like listening to it just for Andre 3000's tiny bit. Really wish we could have gotten a complete verse though. No More Parties in LA is comparable to Real Friends as far as lyricism, but again, I kind of consider it a bonus track, though a great bonus track. My one complaint would be that the beat gets stale by the end. Facts is a fun song, though not necessarily a good one. The new beat helps, but it feels like Kanye jumped in the studio and was having fun, again, it feels like a bonus. Agree about Fade, good beat, great for head-bobbing.
I'm not going to give it a score because it's so hard to rate Kanye's projects without comparing them to one another and my ranking changes daily. I can say that it's not as good as MBDTF, but better than 808s and probably Graduation. Overall, it's a great album in my opinion. Judging by Kanye's twitter, we might be getting another project this summer, though I have my doubts.
Just an update on our possible seeding for the ACC tournament
We need the @CassellGuardVT Saturday!!! We can still get to the 6 seed in the ACCT!!! Lottery closes tonight!! pic.twitter.com/NJz5qX9jZx— Ryan Dye (@Ryan4VT) March 3, 2016
If you can get to the game, be there. Cassell is becoming one of the tougher places to play in the ACC again. And it is marvelous.
However, someone needs to explain to this Yakker that basketball has 5 players, and the student section would be the 6th man
I was hoping there would be a discussion about this album. I wasn't sure if it was an interest for TKP, so I didn't start one, but here it is!
Full disclosure... I torrented TLOP because, well, Tidal. I love Kanye and all, but he shouldn't be making it Tidal exclusive.
I think this album could have been thinned out some. 18 tracks seems long to me. The Silver Surfer could have been cut, along with the waste of time that is "I Love Kanye". A couple of songs, like 30 Hours and Lowlights could be cut as well. Lowlights just doesn't do it for me, because Kanye doesn't even show up.
For me, Fade is one of my favorite tracks. It seems to be a bit underrated with the whole "Bleach my asshole" and Taylor lines. But the rhythm and lyrics of Fade work very well together. FML also falls into the category of songs that don't get talked about enough.
Facts is one of the bangers on this album as well. I know it's a pretty crap song, but man, it can get going.
Kanye was able to get some really good collabs on this album. Chance absolutely kills Ultralight Beams and with all the talk about him stalling the album to include Wave, he does a pretty good job with it.
I'd give this album about a 7.5. It doesn't seem to live up to the amount of hype that it went through. I'm excited to hear his new projects coming out soon, and his new album coming out this summer.

If there was a game where they allow students in for free, this would be it. I know they did for UNC, but that was a special case.
The athletics department should be doing everything to make that place full and loud.
