Yeah, I hear you. Two thoughts on that:

1. I don't think Beamer needs defending. This observation isn't an indictment on Beamer. Many of us have lived through things.....relationships, companies, mindsets....becoming stale. If you aren't diligent, it happens. Sometimes it happens if you are diligent. Seemingly, Beamer tried to keep the things that were good (Foster, defense, commitment to quality kickers) and replace what wasn't good (OL, recruiting, etc.). I feel comfortable saying that Beamer sensed this was happening and made measures to stop it. Those measures just didn't work, or other holes sprang through the dike as one was patched.

2. I thought specifically about Rogers and leadership as I was typing this. He's a remarkable kid. But, when he came in as a freshman and immediately overtook some of the leadership role (certainly by his Soph year), that was a bit of a redflag about how some of the upper clansmen were not effectively filling those leadership roles. It seemed to me, just throwing this out as a hypothesis, that many of the seniors the last five years didn't deliver the performance or leadership that was anticipated due to strong Soph/Jr years. Complacency? VT2016 won't have a lot of seniors, but those who should play key roles are Clark, Baron, McGlaughlin, Rogers, and Ekanem. How will those players finish off their careers? Or maybe it's a good thing that we don't have a lot of seniors, easier to buy into a new system when you have multiple years to commit to it? All interesting subjects to discuss (for me, at least).

Reminds me of a well spoken young receiver who was enthusiastic about coming to VT and starting right away. Ford-ish.

And thats right, Phillip. Many of the Bayside players went to UVA, but you come on over to VT and win some games.

seems like this kid is always getting hurt :(

hate to see that for the guy. He seems to be doing everything right on and off the field. It really saddens me that his career has been marred by injuries.

I actually spoke with him over the weekend. He's walking around just fine, but has some tendonitis in that knee. This is largely precautionary and from what I understand, very similar to what Bucky had to deal with during fall camp. As far as I can tell, if it was game week, Brandon would be playing. This is all assuming nothing serious happened in the past week or so.

Doesn't seem likely based on his prior history of injuries. Hopefully Stroman, Alleyne, Johnson, and Ladler are able to step up and contribute.

I'm not sure he should mess around with what's worked schematically for the last decade. Sure we've been gashed recently on D, but I don't think that's due to scheme issues - just mainly not having the right ppl for said scheme - you could argue that my point illustrates your point, but I'd rather a 6'5 270 guy move to the OL than trying to put him on the DL and therefore change an entire scheme just to accommodate him.

Both Fuller and Fayson never seemed to be completely healthy for us - why we so snake bitten? Wish we had had those two back there ball-hawking like they did their freshman years last year!

This is where the real value of a S&C coach comes in to play. Nearly every joint is stabilized and protected by muscle. These kinds of injuries can be prevented with proper training. It sucks to see it happen but Hilgart will hopefully begin to head off these types of injuries.

There are some TKPers that previously supported via PayPal at a higher level than the price of The Key Players Club, and there were others who did at a lower amount. (A few even joined and kept your recurring support via PayPal intact which is insane.) My hope before the launch was over time they'd balance each other out. Thus far, more of the higher level folks have opted into The Key Players Club.

I don't think that's a bad thing for TKP. I'm happy to see we continue to deliver content and an experience our longtime supporters still value. Hopefully more and more of you will continue to join. In the end, TKP is only going to get better as a result.
