What's Waltz's projected seed for the national tourney, though? I know he was #3 prior to the Michigan meet. Did beating Coon help him get to #2? That #2 seeding could be very helpful in the NCAA's since it would mean that he won't have to face NCSU's Gwiz (the only guy in the country who I think would beat him right now) until the championship match.
I'm not sure we would have the RPI we need to make it in.

Looks like the whole crowd in the stands stayed after the game for the picture!
I'll definitely be there. I was hoping for the 7 pm game on Wednesday but its looking like we will be the 12 pm game unfortuantely
I always hated the Octopus of Death that he would become. Totally absorbed the entire map.
I didn't catch the earlier iterations of The Matrix, but I really appreciate this analysis and find myself agreeing with it throughout. Nice work!
Really liking this team and the chemistry, hard work, and grittiness, and The Matrix highlights how the players are unique, contributing to that chemistry aspect.
I'm just going to fantasize about us winning out to close the regular season (Pitt and Miami at Cassell are totally winnable), than making it to the final of the ACC tournament to put us on the bubble with a 21-14 record (10-8 ACC). a man can dream right?
Best anecdote ever.
I'm glad someone got the reference and shares my hopes and dreams. :D
I feel like they are building it up for him to leave the group and go off on his own. Him and Rick don't seem to be on the same page anymore. This also allows for a reunion down the road rather than killing him off completely.
11-15 Alabama State would like a word with you.
I clicked that stormtrooper link hoping beyond hope that it was a stormtrooper shooting basketball.
Great article, Brian.
First boring ACC win for VT in a looooooong time. Feels good to be lulled to sleep watching a lopsided win in our favor
I have been conditioned to go to Boston and come out disappointed. It wasn't pretty, but they did what they were supposed to.
The growth and maturity of this team is so tangible. I enjoy watching the pieces fit together and mold into those pieces.
I can't wait to see Blackshear get stronger, but watching him off the ball is a joy. From hedging on screens and deflecting back to his defensive position. A shot goes up and he instantly is boxing out, maybe not getting the rebound but his fundamentals and really good.
Robinson and Clarke continue to show more glimpses as to while this is fun, the future is brighter.
Glad to see VT take care of business on the road and come away with the W. Their inability to box out was baffling at times and VT could have easily won by 25+ if they had limited second chances by BC, but this game is one that VT has lost in the past. There is something to be said for being able to hold serve against the teams you should beat. They may not have the wins this year against the upper echelon that VT did under Greenberg but they also don't have the head scratching losses.
I've been trying to decide what my favorite part of this picture is since it was posted last night. Is it Seth Allen interviewing Robinson? Buzz sweeping the floor? Perhaps it's Galloway being an 8 year old. I'm glad this is one that will hang on the wall for a while.
No doubt; and I know nothing about the state's natural resource folks.
Most of my state contacts are in Florida and some in Georgia. Florida's game and fish leadership and their research arm is top notch. I've been brought in on a couple of AFWA task groups looking at various policies and organization-wise it doesn't get any better that FWC.
I also know several of the stats people with USGS who did quite a bit of wildlife population work for us. These folks, as well as the group at the Florida Wildlife Research Institute are legitimately world leaders in what they do.
Any time public interest (votes) or big money (contributions) is on the line, politics will try to find its way into decisionmaking. On the fed side, I made a point of maintaining a firewall between the science and policy. I wouldn't let researchers weigh in on policy, and I wouldn't let the policy people see anything but the final outputs from the scientists. It was always critical to make sure there was no hint of bias in either direction. As you said, trust in the process is crucial to public buy-in.
Man, it felt nice to be the asskicker in an ACC game for once.
Best part of a road win:

No way, killing him off would hurt the ratings of his new show.
You could tell by all the celebrations that Donlon is well liked.
It is a Freaker coozie, yes.
Agreed, good quote. I feel like our basketball team has done a lot of positive rock hitting. Are we on the right side of 50 now?

That may be the most visually incongruous thing I've seen in months.
My mind tells me it's impossible, but, there it is: A flabby marvel of grace.
