This was my freshmen year and believe the game was blacked out on local TV which resulted in 20 guys in Pritchard Hall sitting around a radio listening the game going crazy. Amazing year of my life. Thanks for the reminder!

I think blocking of transfers applies to graduates as well. That's why Brewer came to VT instead of any school in Texas. IIRC, he wanted to stay in Texas but was blocked from all P5 Texas schools.

Could also potentially hurt. Duke has played Miami, Pitt and UNC well the past couple of years. Nevertheless, I imagine that Duke will still be good. I have heard that Cutcliffe has some experience coaching QBs.

Fun fact:

I was told by VTFC's current faculty adviser that several years prior to my freshman year the fencing club was approached by the athletic department about the possibility and feasibility of starting a varsity women's fencing program at Tech. The club voted no on it, citing the preservation of "club culture". "Club culture" at that time was essentially being a drinking club with a fencing problem. I doubt that was the only reason it didn't go through, but I hold that era of club alumni in strong contempt to this day.

Starting a women's program first is how it's done in fencing nowadays. It's hard to justify the addition of two new sports, so adding women's first is the go-to for new NCAA programs. I'd really like to have an opportunity to get in Whit's ear about this a few years down the road because fencers (generally) make fantastic students, and we would be able to recruit VA uncontested. Bringing a new fencing program into the ACC is also a little more appealing now with the addition of the ACC fencing championships, which will be broadcast on ESPN3 this year.

I know you're not a real odds-maker, but these odds would make you bankrupt. Considering it's mostly a 2 person race with a sliver of a possibility of a 3rd player, everyone would place 50% of their money on Lawson and 50% on Evans. Since it's probably 80-90% chance that Evans or Lawson win, and you're paying 3:1 odds, you'll lose money.

I am not trying to blame them. One of the cardinal rules of officiating is to call the game consistent, even if you may find yourself erring one way or the other, be consistent through the entire contest. That is my gripe. Most of those plays with the offensive player lowering their shoulder were called charges early and Gill was every bit as aggressive with his shoulder there and got the call.
