Yea, I'd like to understand the issue (if there is one) that is causing there to be surgery considerations.
I heard something about his Achilles tendon(s), but that is very much 3rd hand info and I haven't put much into it.
That is what I have heard many times. He injured it as a kid, and it didn't heal properly. He might be getting surgery over the offseason, but from what I've heard, it's normal.
There aren't many quarterbacks that gain Heisman consideration without having at least one go to guy unless they are the running type that scores a lot of TDs on the ground but I understand your point. Just didn't want Pennington compared to Manziel at the pro level. There is no comparison at this point and wont be unless Alcohol can turn it off and convince someone else to give him a chance and he puts that chance to ultimate use. Cant imagine he is going to survive the regime change in Cleveland this offseason.
He'll (the owner Nick) be open for another year or two for sure. Still has the lease on the building. He has two young daughters however and he loves those girls to death. The guy is there from 9 or 10 AM till almost midnight daily trying to make ends meet. Just hard to compete with the monster that is VT dining and students only doing down town to get wasted.

Both y'all have good points. As much as I don't like Johnny Alcohol, he did do some great things at aTm, but his greatest plays were always 'scramble around and then throw a hail mary to Evans', and Evans truly was dominant at his position in college.
Pennington was above average and did have a nice long career, nothing wrong with that.
My only contention is that he wouldn't have been in the Heisman conversation had it not been for Moss.

Out of Conference games could be tough matchups:
ND could be tough across the board
Georgia could be tough
Houston could be a tough matchup for Louisville
Tennessee is going to be a tough game
Ole Miss and Florida could be tough games
Oregon has potential and its against UVA, not sure how that will work out
Really the biggest question marks right now in late-January are what USCe and Auburn teams are going to show up from what I can see, spring might clear some things up, but it will be a good look if the ACC can pull of the majority of those wins.
I find it interesting and good that Wiggins (an offensive coach) was there too.

Ive never been a huge basketball fan since the tumultuous end of my AAU career in the 8th grade, and I dont think Im alone, but I can honestly say, this is the first time since early High School Ive been excited and mindful of college basketball.
FWIW: I never went to a game while in Blacksburg, I have considered and looked at the schedule to see if I could make it up for a game from Virginia Beach...and again, I feel like I am not alone, even if they lose, they are really exciting to watch and they play like a scrappy team you can be proud to get behind...Id love to hear if anyone else shares this sentiment.

Hah, funny that you bring this up. UNC had a similar problem when they opened a new building on campus a few years back. They were getting high levels of lead in the water, so the administration consulted the engineering department at UNC. To quote the article:

So, UNC's engineering department basically said "Uh, go ask VT." I find that humorous.
He only played one year with Moss and that was as a redshirt sophomore. I do agree that Moss elevated his profile.
