If Jaquan Yulee commits to VT I bet he ends up as a DT, for some reason we never have big ILB's and that is what causes us to fail against the run, Miami got an early enrollee Shaquille Quarterman who plays ILB, ranked number 2 at the position by ESPN, he is a 4 star like Yulee but is 6'0 240, whereas Yulee is closer to 260, that is DT size for us. Until we start getting bigger inside linebackers our run defense will suffer, I almost hope we don't get Yulee because he won't work out for us just like a lot of the other big recruits we get, we use smaller guys and in some cases it helps, others it hurts like the run D but oh well I'm not the coach just ranting. I hope this changes.

We've always enjoyed going to the VT hockey games. I just have to remember that it starts early in the fall and not remember in January!

FWIW, there are no logo changes coming. The only thing that's going to happen is a standardization of colors and proportions. Whit said as much. The leaked documents were a brainstorming session from Nike people and are not actual proposals or logos being considered by VT administration.

Great post - I'd upvote it...if only it were true...

Maybe 10 programs in the country can get away with no changes, and half of THEM have strayed in varying degrees at some point in the last few years (see Notre Dame; Nebraska; OSU; Oklahoma; Michigan; Texas). In fact, outside of PSU, USCw, 'Bama, Auburn(?), Wisky(?) I can't think of a school that HASN'T done it. We certainly can't presume to be above it.

I think the prevailing "wisdom" that uni's have gone nuts to lure recruits is short-sighted. Recruits learn to love the colors of whatever school they think will best serve their own interests. This stuff is for Nike more than anyone else - TV, retail, etc - and it's not like we pay for them, right? We've suffered through some truly awful iterations (Ninja Decepticons v. Boise, one-orange shoulder monstrosities, the aaaaalmost-cool grey/maroon ensemble v. Bama, those (gag) turkey (gag) track lids). But some have been absolute fire, including pretty much everything we wore this season, and I for one am happy to do whatever we need to do...to keep us...out of Adidas or UA. Yuck.

The key there is booster.

As a poster here at TKP, you may be considered a booster in the eyes of the NCAA. A number of institutions have explicitly stated that message board posters cannot contact recruits (Cincinnati is an example). Tech does not have this highlighted but they also don't have anything about social media last I checked.

If you've ever been a member of the Hokie Club you are most definitely a booster.

Go Panthers!

I really like Cam, and frankly I want them to win it all just so all the tools that keep writing the Charlotte Observer complaining about him having fun on the field dtart frothing at the mouth

We've had some great linebackers that were great because they could outrun the blockers to the point of attack. Chase Williams & Jack Tyler did this very well before our current crop.

Our problem recently is backers running themselves out of plays, or seeming to guess wrong about which gap to hit, or simply getting swallowed up by blockers big & small.

Until the LB situation is resolved, and assuming no schematic changes to minimize the exposure to what is a weakness right now, I have low expectations for Foster's D. (not that the D will suck, but that it will suck by Foster's standards).

When it comes to teenagers on Twitter, it's time to turn in the grammar police badge.

I never really see incoming recruits as really an option for immediate impact outside of the skill positions unless they are can't miss type players or there is a real huge need due to injuries or attrition. Especially at positions that require players to make a lot of reads like linebacker. Usually a year in the weight room to bulk up a little and to grasp the defense is needed.

Keihn had already been surpassed on the depth chart when he transferredl, think he was only a 4* on rivals too

I posted elsewhere, I think the coaches identified linebacker as a position of weakness, and are pushing to get more competition and depth.
