That had to be the best and worst 10 seconds we have played this year.
They have no space or necessity to bring in Erick. They would have to cut their lowest payed player to bring in Erick, and that player would be Jarell Eddie
Per his Hudl page, Dillon rushed for 26 touchdowns, 1,886 yards and 10.1 yards per carry as a junior.
In other words, "First Down! Hokies!" Every. Damn. Time.
Gotta love the way he refuses to go down. His yards after contact are impressive.

# | What returning offensive ball handlers have the most to gain and most to lose under Fuente? Juice had a "setback" in his rehab. Not sure if that means he completely retore his ACL or if he aggravated it slowing his return. He was pushing really hard to get back on the field last year and was trying to do it in 8 months instead of the usual 12.
I think this is something lots of fans on message boards, not necessarily on this site, don't get. They blame the training staff when a guy gets hurt. Then they blame the training staff when the guy hurts himself trying to get back too quickly. Or they blame the training staff when the guy doesn't come back as quickly or as good as he was before the injury. Rehab has as much, if not more, to do with the one doing the rehab as the trainers and doctors working on them.

You can almost see the hesitation play-to-play in person beginning after the under-8 MTO in the 1st half. It's hard for the bigs to play the game (for either team) when each official is on a different planet as to what they're going to swallow the whistle on, and when they're going ticky-tack.
Ok, Hokies! Time to party and get some recruits!

# | What returning offensive ball handlers have the most to gain and most to lose under Fuente? He wasn't. Marshawn didn't play this past year. I also don't understand why he wouldn't be available until the latter part of next year. Typical ACL recovery time is one year, which for Marshawn, was about a month ago. One would expect that he would be cleared for spring ball if his rehab has gone well. Unless there's something we don't know.

# | BUZZKETBALL CENTRAL: Wake Forest Demon Deacons (10-5, 1-2) at Virginia Tech Hokies (10-6, 2-1) 9 PM RSN/ESPN3 I always watch (most of) the game again when I get home after a win, and after I saw this comment I wanted to see if it was true. I did not notice it at the game, but I wasn't close to the action either.
Not enough time to watch it all, so I went to the pbp to see when Allen shot or drew a foul. To be fair, I didn't look at turnovers nor 3s (focused on drives as that is what was mentioned).
Here is what I saw; I apologize for the sloppiness as I was typing on my phone as I watched.
Time of drives (in case anyone wants to look too):
5.30 1st
15.32 2nd
4.23 2nd
4.18 2nd
1.24 2nd
1st drive. Wilson brings it up, few passes, great drive by Allen, has to finish it.
2nd drive. Robinson brings it up. Gives it to allen. Drives and scores, draws foul.
3rd drive. Allen takes it up court, robinson did ask for the ball but Allen kept it. Ran offense, multiple passes, but to no avail. Allen drives and shot taken with under 5 seconds on shot clock. Wasn't the greatest but had to put up something. *this was when they reviewed the shot clock.
4th drive. Allen catches the inbounds and has a wide open lane. Hard foul by Wake takes him to the line.
5th drive. Henry grabs the board. Gives it to Allen and he takes off, catches wake napping, and makes an easy drive for 2. Robinson asked for the ball from Henry (kinda) but it made sense for him to go to Allen who was already up court.
In the end, I didn't see what you saw at the game or on the replay. Perception bias??? Or did I miss something (wouldn't be the first time). Maybe it was on a 3 or other drive?
If young ends step up, I'm not worried about the front four. Should have lots of depth and size this season, hopefully we can rotate guys in and out to keep everyone fresh.
The other award he is up for, Top Value Performer, is a little upsetting when you really think about it. By far the lowest paid starting QB and the Bills could easily get two great years out of him for like a combined 3m and then dump him. NFL contracts are an absolute joke and are in no way to the benefit of players. I know a lot of people on here are aware of that if you have read any of the articles supporting Kam's holdout earlier this year.
To clarify, he will be paid 1 million this year to start 16 NFL football games at the most important position on the field. Almost criminal.
Edit: I'm well aware of his current contract structure, but I still believe he is being cheated out of a deserved paycheck. Other guys are getting paid way more to perform at a lower level in a profession where the wrong injury can derail a career. If that does happen, God forbid it, I would like to know he made more than a backup linebacker for his time in the NFL.
I'm a little terrified they will draft Chad Kelly and he will receive favorable treatment from the Bills because of Jim's influence and the fans will be up Tyrods ass with every mistake because his backups last name is Kelly.
Once again Bud singling out Tremaine Edmunds at the backer position and what he said was telling, imo.
He didn't just throw Tremaine to the fire because he was the most "ready-to-go" THIS year (after Clarke), he actually threw him in there to make Tremaine better & prepared for next year. Kind of goes against some saying that Lydon is the guy and Tremaine was just a stop-gap that was more ready as a freshman.

Both guys have had really good games recently and both guys have had mediocre-to-bad games recently. I just know I've seen enough from Allen to be very much OK with him taking a ball to the rim himself.
Pridgeon was set to sign with Baylor on JUCO signing day Dec. 15th and then announced he wouldn't sign anywhere until he visited VT.
Which means he was going to have to delay his decision an entire month minimum due to the dead period. I think that says a lot.... although he has gotten some CB's to Baylor lately. Would be so huge if we landed him, considering he's a higher ranked JUCO prospect than Evans (top 5 overall).
This is great for both VT and Bucky. Hodges is a talented player but needs a little more experience to really blow the scouts away and get picked in a round that is more commensurate with his abilities. Against UVA he had a HUGE block for Ryan Malleck. You have to love the Walking Deadesque lean he's got on this crazy block.

Justin Robinson's last 3 games before tonight:
NC State: 6pts, 3-5, 1 assists
Virginia: 5 pts, 1-5, 6 assists
Duke: 8 pts, 2-4, 3 assists
I just don't see where Robinson is meshing with the team better than Allen is, outside of tonight. Not downing Robinson, but I just agree to disagree.

They will fall eventually.
Could we talk about Dadi for a minute?
I just can't get over the way his VT career ends with such a fizzle. Especially since he was such a high draft prospect in the preseason. His regression over the course of the season reminds me of the same phenomenon that hit the front seven in 2012.
But here is really why I can't get past this:
This was sophomore Dadi in 2013, getting a helmet sticker from Mark May after his three-sack performance against Pitt. But as it turns out, this was also arguably the high point of his VT career.
Back then Dadi hadn't cracked the starting lineup, although he was making a strong argument to do so after this game. But we never used him in this fashion again.
One of the things I know from my practice is, people perform the best when they get to play to their strengths. Pitt showed us exactly how to make Dadi successful - unleash him, let him attack from different angles and locations, make it impossible to lock in on him. Against Pitt he created chaos.
I can't help but think had we taken this a step further, designed or evolved his Pitt role into a hybrid position just for him, he might have become one of the most dominant defenders in VT history. He had the physical abilities and the intensity, all he needed was a role that matched.
