I was just double-checking because I could have sworn I've seen student sections on the sidelines in view of TV cameras, as DBU mentioned. Mainly just making sure I've not gone completely crazy yet...

How long does it take that kind of upgrade to pay for itself? What are the financing costs in the mean time? It looks comfortable with the padded seats, but how much did the price of tickets go up? If VT raises ticket prices, what does that do to attendance?
Questions like these are the reason why you will see any upgrades to seats being done on a trial basis. Don't be surprised if you see cushioned seats in 1 to 3 sections in the lower part of the bowl next season.

They might be behind the home bench, but typically there is a 2-3 (minimum) row buffer behind the visitor's bench for family and boosters of the visitors.
He certainly isn't getting any football related information from the "grounds".
I've been looking around to verify this, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. In fact, there's a couple examples around the ACC that have students behind the team benches. So as usual with college athletics, who really knows what the rules are...

# | Virginia Tech Football Recruiting: Jerod Evans Commits to the Hokies After watching the film, reading this article, and thinking about the readiness of some other Juco QB's to play right away, it's hard for me to imagine this guy not winning the job in the spring. I'm tempering expectations, but I'm certainly on the verge of being very excited.
The Benedictine kids are leaning Duke heavy for most of them. I went to school there and talk to some of my classmates who have parents or other connections there, they are not sure why but several of the kids really like Duke over any other school.
First, I think they should make ACC bowl selection based on conference records only. If teams want to qualify for a crappy bowl by scheduling crappy OOC teams, they can, but they should not punish a team for playing a tougher schedule by letting others who did not jump them in the bowl selection order.
Second, I would like to see them say you need to be at least .500 in conference play to qualify for a bowl.
Let the punishment/reward for playing OOC teams be in good football for the fans, payouts for teams needing money, or whatever that school needs it to be, but it should never hurt a teams ability to go to a good bowl to play a tough OOC schedule. You win, its improves your chance at NY6, or tie breakers for tiers, or whatever. Beating SMU, the Directional School of Dentistry, or anyone with only 2 wins, should not be more rewarding than losing to Bama, anOSU, etc.
I can understand favoring Duke the last couple of years, but the tide is turning..... Winning will cure this problem.

it's impossible to know this for sure. What we do know is that with an NFL caliber O-line and skill players around him, LT still couldn't manage to stay in the league. He's currently on the Dolphins practice squad, if I'm not mistaken. There was a lot of potential there but for some reason it's not working out for him. I had hoped that he would make it with some proper coaching in the league but I just don't think that's going to happen at this stage. It's too bad, really, because he was terrific in every other aspect of the game. A good leader and fighter who never gave up on the team and always carried himself well. He was a great representative for VT and I'll always appreciate him for that.
TO be fair, LT would have continued to do great things if we didn't take a huge nose dive in offensive talent after 2011
Looks like neimo isn't keeping up his TechHoops site any longer. That's too bad, I always enjoyed his highlights.

FWIW he turned out to be a good and tough player, but he did throw his fair share if INTs.

Great, physical attributes are nice. But I really take away from this that Evans is very athletic, definitely smart, and a leader that has the camaraderie of his team. All excellent qualities. This will be an interesting spring for sure.
Admittedly, who can keep up? A quick glance at our football schedule makes one think ECU is in the ACC.

That certainly doesn't prove your point, particularly since the point you're trying to make is a comparison of Urban Meyer and Bronco Mendenhall, who was the coach of those players.
I'd say your entire team fighting on the field is as much an indication of discipline as maturity.
