over-critical and not warranted based off of this years performance

Me looking for the performance that should protect Loeffler from criticism

To suggest that he wasn't preparing the O properly is to question his ability as an OC, and I'm quite sure that while Auburn wasn't rosy for him for much discussed reasons, his tenure with Temple wasn't a fluke.

So he has had four consecutive years of poor offensive production, but his one year in a non-power 5 conference should prevent us from questioning his ability? That is an awfully long leash you are providing him.

Brewer holding on too long for sacks? How is that on Lefty?

This will be my last reply because the above mischaracterization of my argument is silly. The lack of execution doesn't just include "Brewer holding on too long for sacks". Poor execution permeates every aspect of the offense. I would go so far as to say that "Poor Execution" is the defining trait of this offense.

Rewatch just about any game over the past three years and you will see an offense that struggles to get out of its own way. I waited three years to write an article this critical of Loeffler, and the reason I finally wrote it was because three years of game tape shows he isn't improving execution.

Look at the improvement of execution at Michigan in under a year. An offensive coordinator that can't get his team to do what he wants isn't a good one.

That's correct for the general budget, but as a VT employee I can tell you that there are more 'funding sources' than Walgreen's has drugs. Some items are funded through fees, special programs, the VT Foundation, and so on ad nauseum. VT also gets some major projects funded as separate line items straight from the General Assembly. I'm not the expert, but it's amazing to me that a single professional development trip can involve monies from three or four separate funding sources. Kudos to the Finance gurus that keep us straight. If our small department is that confuddled, I can only imagine that the Athletics Department finances resemble the swamp on Dagobah. No matter where you get the numbers, I'm sure (outside of the Athletics administration) getting a true picture is somewhere between .

The minutes of the Board of Visitors meetings often provides some excellent insight into how the university funds - and spends - money. Take a look at the "Presentations" section to really get a look at what's out there. The Building and Grounds Committee is always a good read.

I think Fuente would make an outstanding coach for us. I think he would be a coach that stays with us for a long time. I hope that he and Whit will recognize the need to surround himself with a top-notch recruiting staff, and that Fuente will hire assistants with recruiting experience in VA and elsewhere. I think he could be a great recruiter, but he doesn't have those connections in areas where we will be competing against OSU, FSU, Clemson, Penn St, Tenn, etc for recruits. But the guy can definitely build up a program and get the most out of his players.
