Can anyone explain why Jalen Hudson has been a non-factor all season? Can't imagine he'll be getting any more minutes with Wilson now back and Outlaw/Hill still potentially returning as well.
If the choice is "make him head coach or he's gone," then Whit may have to eliminate Bud from the process before he can even make a decision.
Deal is far from done, but yeah it is looking like he is kind of hiding something during the interview.
SC AD said that report was false but I still think he may end up there.
I don't think we face Illinois again until the Playoff, so we've got at least 14 games to prepare.

Seeing as Whit hasn't said a word about who is or isn't getting consideration, this seems like a bit of an overreaction.
You never left home when it was the best opportunity for you? Bud needs to do what's best for him, at the end of the day.

On a more serious note, I would have thought that he might be interested in the UMD terps job considering that he is familiar with the recruiting territory already. It made a little more sense. If he does become the HC at UMD, it'll be in my backyard, i might actually go an support Bud
That's cause Aaron Moorehead is not around. Look he turned Josh Stanford, Dimitri Knowles and then Willie Byrn into contributors, are they Isiah Ford or Cam Phillips, no - but they contributed. Zorn Burden is not the same as Moorehead. The new coach needs to be bring in some solid coaches.
We will see Rich Rod's name pop up once, hate it or not.
Because the head of that family is stepping away after a great career. At some point, you need to move on. I must be the only one on this website that won't be totally disappointed if Bud doesn't get the job. Who's to say he's going to be a good head coach?
Also maybe this is generational, but loyalty doesn't always serve its justice. I look at it from job experiences. Just because you're loyal with a company doesn't mean they have to automatically be loyal back.

Maybe this coaching search thing every 4 years isn't all it's cracked up to be. Thanks for all those years of stability Frank.
Bud has done as much for VT as anybody. Not doing everything possible to retain him doesn't give me the feeling of a family atmosphere we have been preaching. My fingers are still crossed that he stays.
I'm not. Losing bud would more than wipe out whatever offensive gains we hope to get with the next coach.

They had a high number of turnover again, but this time they were spread over the entire team and not just from the guards.
So we've got one of the greatest defensive minds in college football history on our staff, a guy that other schools want (Illinois is just one, I'm sure there are going to be others at many different levels), and we're just willing to watch him walk out the door without really giving him much consideration.
Alright, as long as everyone is comfortable with that.
Maybe Loeffler's offense is to complex for our players? I don't doubt that the guy can coach QB's and he knows how to design plays; I just don't know how successful he has been as OC for VT... To be fair to the man, to a certain extent, it's not all on him.
On his current coaching staff, he probably had input only on Coaches Searles and Zon Burden. He didn't pick Shane as RB coach, and in the hierarchy of the team, Shane out ranks him as Associate Headcoach. Nor did he pick Bryan Stinespring as his TE coach & recruiting coordinator.
Then there are the unfortunate circumstances of coaching turnovers due to Coach Grimes leaving after one year and Coach Moorehead leaving at year two of his tenure.
Then there is the fact that in year two he didn't have his starting RBs for half a season and towards the last four games, we were down to our 4th and 5th string RBs? Logan Thomas as QB for one year in his first year as OC and then Michael Brewer as a new QB in his second year as OC, only to lose him for 3-4 games due to a broken collar bone in his third year as OC.
To say that OC Loeffler has had difficult circumstances is putting it lightly. But ultimately, the buck stops with him, because he accepted the position of OC. IMHO, I think he needs to pair down his playbook for the college level. Next year, if he is still here, he will have a new QB again. Three years of data would seem to indicate that we would have a 6 or 7 win team with a new QB who needs to grasp OC Loeffler's playbook. I don't believe that would be acceptable to our fanbase.
